Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments Oh! Scribd has the prequel in that series, Jane. Yay!

message 2056: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 As usual I have a couple on the go - A Week in Winter by Maeve Binchy (the last book she wrote before she died); A Killer Retreat by Tracy Weber (a cosy mystery staring a yoga instructor and her petshop owner boyfriend); and a non-fiction 'sea-change book' Up With the Larks: Starting Again in Cornwall by Tessa Hainsworthwhere Tessa tells us how her family dropped out of the London rat-race and moved to a quiet seaside town in Cornwall.

Lots of feel good moments in all of these

Deanna (anovelglimpse) I'm reading The Comeback of Conn MacNeill (Sweet Home, Carolina, #3; MacNeill Brothers, #2) by Virginia Kantra right now. Then I'm going to read the nxt book in that series.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments You know, Sally, as hard as this is for me to believe, I've never read a Maeve Binchy book before, although she's been on my radar for awhile. Any you'd highly recommend?

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments Another author I haven't tried, Deanna. I'll have to check out Virginia Kantra. Hmmm...

I haven't read a Maeve Binchy that I didn't like - Some I have LOVED but all are above average IMHO.

I would start with some of her earlier works like The Copper Beech, Circle of Friends or The Glass Lake and then work your way through.

I guess my least liked were Whitethorn Woods and Nights Of Rain And Stars but even they were 3 star reads.

So really I would recommend them all :)

I have A Week in Winter for a March group read, and have previously only read one book by her, Light a Penny Candle -- I read it in high school, but though certain images have stayed with me over the years, I did not know the author or exact title of it until a couple years ago.

I am currently reading two books, an older rom-suspense by Anne Stuart, Tangled Lies, and The Fault in Our Stars by John Green for another group's February read.

Sally906 I have just finished Operation Valentine by Loretta Hill - a lovely little romance by an Aussie writer

I am now currently reading Mr Chen's Emporium by Deborah O'Brien (another Aussie writer) which is set in a place called Millbrook and split between the current time persiod and the late 1800s - two different women tell their story and I hope we will see the connection between the two women in due course. I am really, really enjoying it :)

The other books I am currently reading are a mystery called A Killer Retreat by Tracy Weber (2nd in a series) and Of Stardust by February Grace which in all honesty i am not very far into to comment on it

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments I still pecking away at Naked Heat (Nikki Heat, #2) by Richard Castle . I'm ten books behind my GRs' goal... eep! I did listen to Missing You by Harlan Coben , which I liked, but not as much as I thought I would. There was too much... "I will tell you what is going on, but not right now." from the characters; it began to bug me.
