Leslie (chibilee02) Thanks Lisa. Just goes to show that I'm better off reading the book before seeing the movie. Lol

Whoa.

message 1963: by Carol (new)

Carol Dobson | 402 comments I also loved the film of Cold Mountain, but don't think I could watch it again. I found it very moving and at times almost too sad. It had a realism about it which made the episode with the crows seem out of kilter with the rest of the film. Nicole Kidman is always one of my favorite actresses.

message 1964: by Heather L (new)

Heather L (wordtrix) I've seen Cold Mountain, but can't say I remember much about it.

Almost done with The Painted Veil and am actually enjoying this group read.

Looked at the 'blurb' about it. What is a burning piffle? Curious to know! Will put it on my tbr list.

message 1975: by Sonya (new)

Sonya Heaney I've read some good books recently. So many of the good review books seem to become available at the end of the year (so they never make it onto "Best Of" lists!).

Hunted (Hostage Rescue Team #3) by Kaylea Cross Secrets of a Scandalous Heiress (The Matchmaker Trilogy, #3) by Theresa Romain Marriage Made in Money by Sophia James

message 1976: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments The Matchmaker Trilogy looks good, Sonya. Actually, they all do.

Sonya Heaney Lisa Kay wrote: "The Matchmaker Trilogy looks good, Sonya. Actually, they all do."

I've really enjoyed that series. Theresa Romain has a couple of series, but this one is by far the better of the two. I LOVED the last book:
To Charm a Naughty Countess by Theresa Romain

And Kaylea Cross is always great!

message 1978: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments Love the cover of that one, Sonya.

Michele (mzim) | 1 comments I love a good HEA! Check out Brynne Asher, a new author, for a great love story with a perfect HEA! Read Overflow... You won't regret it!

message 1981: by Leslie (new)

Leslie (chibilee02) Currently in the middle of When the Cypress Whispers by Yvette Manessis Corporon and A Feast for Crows (A Song of Ice and Fire, #4) by George R.R. Martin .

message 1982: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments How of you doing with #4, Leslie?

message 1983: by Leslie (new)

Leslie (chibilee02) It's still really good but not liking it as much as the other books. Especially coming off the third book which I loved and has so far been my favorite of the series.

Yeah, a lot of people have #3 as their favorite...then they have to trudge through #4. Good luck!

message 1985: by Leslie (new)

Leslie (chibilee02) Lol thanks Lisa. Yea before I started I heard #4 was not as good. I tried not to let that influence me until I've read the book. I'm over halfway through and I have to agree with the general consensus.

message 1986: by Melissa (new)

Melissa I am reading Kiss Across Time (Kiss Across Time #1) by Teal Ceagh and Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell

message 1989: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments I read it at the same age. My mom wouldn't let me read it until I was 16.

message 1990: by Leslie (new)

Leslie (chibilee02) I finally read GWTW a couple of months ago. Loved it! I probably couldn't have gotten through it or appreciated it as much if I tried to read it at 16. Lol

message 1991: by Heather L (new)

Heather L (wordtrix) I read a couple novellas/shorts over the weekend (romance and mystery), then started Think Twice, a legal thriller by Lisa Scottoline. I'm missing the next book in this series, but have the one after that, Betrayed, so will either be reading that or Chocolat by Joanne Harris for a group read next. Have never read Chocolat, but love the movie.

message 1992: by Carol (new)

Carol Dobson | 402 comments Currently reading Warleggan by Winston Graham. Always love the Poldark series, which is set in Cornwall, in the late 18th century. Like the historical detail.

message 1993: by Leslie (new)

Leslie (chibilee02) I'm currently into A Dance with Dragons (A Song of Ice and Fire #5) by George R.R. Martin . I'm hoping to finally get around to starting The King (The Original Sinners White Years, #2) by Tiffany Reisz .

message 1994: by Melissa (new)

Melissa I can't seem to really get into GWTW so I am going to shelf it and maybe some other time I will enjoy it more.

I think I am going to switch to Lord John and the Hellfire Club (Lord John Grey, #0.5) by Diana Gabaldon I just love Lord John, he is a great character.
