So it's 4 different authors for each book in the series, do I have that right?

message 652: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Naughty Co-Mod (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 1922 comments Yes, that's right. Book 1 was Gena Showalter, 2 was Jill Monroe, 3 was Jessica Andersen and 4 is Nalini Singh, and it's such an amazing installment. So sweet, emotional, romantic, sexy... so, so good.

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14527 comments checked out a few Harlequin Intigue books from the library. Then Sharon Sala's Blood Trails will be up to read.

Do you need to read the previous books, or can I hop directly to this one?

I'm normally not one to condone reading books out of order, but I really do think that Lord of the Abyss (Royal House of Shadows, #4) by Nalini Singh can be read as a stand alone, and here's why....

Each of the siblings has a different power and while they all make their way back to Elden to overthrow the Blood Sorcerer and regain the throne in one final battle, we only really see that battle in the last book, and only from Micah and Liliana's POV, so in this case, yes, it can be read alone. And unfortunately, we don't really revisit the characters from the previous book. Their appearances as brief... if even that long, and we learn enough about them in book 4 that you won't miss out if you read it as a stand alone.

In my humble opinion.

Thanks a lot! I've just put it into my TBR list.

message 657: by Lina (new)

Lina Thanks UniquelyMoi *~*Dhestiny*~*, I've also added it!

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 1922 comments Let me add that the siblings were all sent to different places, so they don't know that each other is/are making their way back to Elden.

Julianna (authorjuliannad) | 671 comments Well, I loved Whispering Rock, and was kind of sad to see it end. After a shaky start, I can definitely say I'm on board with the Virgin River series now. After reading a couple of short novellas, I've moved on to Murder List (Buchanan, #4) by Julie Garwood .

message 684: by Julianna (last edited Oct 28, 2011 08:24AM) (new)

Julianna (authorjuliannad) | 671 comments Lisa Kay and Pamela, I definitely recommend putting Scandalous Desires at the top of your TBR list. It was absolutely amazing, quite possibly the best romance I've read all year. It certainly lived up to my expectations and then some.:-)

I hated to see it end, but now I've moved on to Yours Until Dawn by Teresa Medeiros. It's pretty good so far, but I can tell it's not going to top Scandalous Desires.

I'm starting Blameless (The Parasol Protectorate, #3) by Gail Carriger A Most Unsuitable Groom (Romney Marsh #4) by Kasey Michaels and I'm still working on We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs . I'm kinda stuck on the last one, it has lost my interest. I'll give it one more chance because I was so excited about reading this book.
