Kari | 1791 comments I love Harry Potter! Can't wait until my son's old enough so I can reread them with him :)
I'm with About Last Night by Ruthie Knox , first time reading this author.

namericanwordcat | 591 comments I love Ruthie Knox. I am reading an ARC of One Night in the Spa by Kathy Lyons which is surprisingly deep and interesting.

message 1604: by Heather L (new)

Heather L (wordtrix) Finished Whiskey Beach by Nora Roberts Monday evening, and finished The Machine Stops by E.M. Forster tonight. Forster's novella is notable for predicting instant messaging and the internet. A friend recommended it to me, which I read free online.

Now, on to Life of Pi by Yann Martel for a final August group read.

Anushri Jain | 11 comments I am now reading the secret life of bess by sue monk kudd

message 1607: by Leslie (new)

Leslie (chibilee02) @Lisa Kay - Yea finished it a couple of days ago, and I don't know if I remembered the book differently or whatnot but I didn't really like it. On a certain, intellectual level I understand what all the fuss was about, but for pure entertainment purposes, I wasn't feeling it.

Well, I had hoped to start yesterday but I'm hoping I will be able to get around to The Fountain of St. James Court; or, Portrait of the Artist as an Old Woman A Novel by Sena Jeter Naslund and finish it during this weekend before starting on books for a group read.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments @ Leslie - times change. Scandalous in its day.

message 1609: by Leslie (new)

Leslie (chibilee02) There is a certain four letter word, starting with the letter 'c' (which I think you'll know) that won't sit well with many even in this day and age.

message 1610: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments Oh, dear. No. Not with me, anyway.

message 1611: by Leslie (new)

Leslie (chibilee02) Yea, so I would think that may be a reason why it wouldn't be a book that people will like nowadays.

message 1612: by Leslie (new)

Leslie (chibilee02) Started Sweet Tooth by Ian McEwan today and may start another one on my kindle tonight.

How are you like it, Leslie? She is one of my favorite authors.

message 1618: by Leslie (new)

Leslie (chibilee02) Oh, Lisa, I loved the book! Didn't know what to expect going into it, but I was pleasantly surprised with it. If you let me, I will gush about it. Lol

Just started City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare today. I'm usually hit or miss w/YA books. So I'm hoping for good things from this book.

message 1619: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments Leslie, are you going to read her 'incognito' book, The Cuckoo's Calling (Cormoran Strike, #1) by Robert Galbraith ?

message 1620: by Leslie (new)

Leslie (chibilee02) Yes Lisa! Even before reading The Casual Vacancy I've been wanting to read that book.

However, currently I've started Thursdays in the Park by Hilary Boyd .

message 1621: by Heather L (new)

Heather L (wordtrix) Leslie, I liked both The Casual Vacancy and City of Bones. Have you seen the movie for the latter? I had mixed feelings about it.

Currently reading: Oliver Twist

message 1622: by Leslie (new)

Leslie (chibilee02) No Heather, I haven't seen the movie version of City of Bones. I don't think I will. I rarely watch the movie versions of books I've read. They usually just disappoint me. Lol

Oh, and along with Thursdays in the Park by Hilary Boyd , I'm reading Her Mad Hatter (Kingdom, #1) by Marie Hall on my Kindle app.

message 1623: by Heather L (new)

Heather L (wordtrix) Finally finished Oliver Twist last night (good, but took longer than anticipated to read), and have started Saint's Gate by Carla Neggers.

message 1624: by Sonya (last edited Oct 03, 2013 11:04PM) (new)

Sonya Heaney Argh! I just typed out a post and accidentally deleted it!

Anyway. I’m currently reading a review copy of The House on Main Street by Shirlee McCoy

I was a bit worried at first because I discovered the author usually writes über-Christian books and is favoured by readers who are pretty extreme in their views, but it turns out I had nothing to worry about. There’re some really great characters, and even though it seems far too early for Christmas books, I like it a lot so far!
