Demon from the Dark (Book #10)

*Spoilery* (Do I even have to say it anymore at this point?)
I agree with the issues you raise with the La Dorada theory, especially the last one. It seems like Lothaire would need someone to help redeem him, not someone who would push him toward the dark side. And I don't know how KC would take La Dorada from being this really evil entity to being a heroine we as the readers would be able to identify with/relate to. Personally, while I'm hoping for Nix, I'd at least want him to be with a Valkyrie since they're my favorites.
If you want to start a petition, I'll sign it! LOL.

Mel and Harper, you do realize that according to that little recording she just did, that Nix and Lothaire are not going to be together...cs didn't she say she t hinks she's going to end the series w/Nix, now???
Anyways, just wanted you guys to prepare yourselves.

Yep, we know. We were just commiserating with each other. LOL.

Jesslyn, sick as in sick day from work (sore throat, coughing and head ache that passed after a few extra hours of sleep)...then with nothing to read I turned to the threads...
Sorry to anyone else if I gave too many spoilers out in my predictions of Lothaire and the accession...I love spoilers and love hints, but not all people do. Perhaps, wminbc=spoiler alert. LOL
Interesting point Mel that Lothaire traced into the Val Hall...was that because he traced to his Bride or because the Vemon and other Horde Vamps were there? I just don't want Nix and Lothaire...I would prefer him with someone fragile (if not in Lore abilities then in ego/self esteem/age) I am still voting for Sabine and Ryd's kid...It would soo piss off Sabine, but would certainly unite the factions. Carrow's "daughter" may also work???
Nix on the other hand needs someone resonable, logical and very very dominant. The fact that Lothaire had to ask for Malkom's help means he is reaching out...I would like him to get a super-powerful woman that needs him (LaDorada may do, but how to make her good??? Maybe love is what made her evil and love can save her).

Lothaire's book is after Regin's, so I don't think he's getting someone's kid...IDK, I may or may not have said this before and the only reason why i think Nix and Lothaire might work is bcs he's as batshit crazy as she is...
I still think Nix is too awesome for anyone though...I mean, seriously, no one is going to be able to handle her and I don't mean that I don't think she should have an HEA, she should, I just think that if KC were to do hers too early...IE Kenyon w/Acheron...People may not look forward to the series as much as they did.
I almost think it would be better if Lothaire, psycho crazy Lothaire were to hook up w/Annika bcs of the Val Hall incident and bcs she's so level headed...but wouldn't his Bride make his heart beat if he's already met her and wouldn't everybody notice that very large detail??

Oh, Jesslynn, that's an excellent point! We probably haven't met Lothaire's HEA then. Unless there's some weird mystical explanation for it, like he somehow magically covered it up...

The only reason Myst didn't blood Nikolai immediately was because she was hiding her true self, remember? Once she revealed herself to him, she blooded him right afterward.

I was actually just thinking about the the heart beat thing...we don't know if it is or isn't beating...would be interesting.
Acheron...aahhh, moment of love for the big man. His story broke my heart. I/we all knew his live sucked, but goodness, did we really need to read all that horror and then again more horror. Tory was good for him, but I still want her to care for him more, coddle him maybe...but that is anohter thread I am sure and I don't want to join that one.
Nix is crazy and can't have another crazy in her life...she needs a focusing point.

Not necessarily. Remember in "Untouchable" Kristoff said that most made vampires don't even think to listen to a heartbeat and therefore don't immediately notice if/when a vamp has been blooded. The only reason the Wroth brothers would notice is because some of them had been blooded themselves. And when he was around other people - the Valkyrie or Lykae - I think they were too worried about what he might do to concern themselves about whether or not his heart is beating. So it's possible he already knows who his Bride is, but he just ignored it because he has his own agenda going on. I mean, I'd prefer it if he hasn't been blooded yet, but I don't think it's entirely outside the realm of possibility at this point.

The only reason Myst didn't blood Nikolai immediate..."
I just read that part...and was about to divulge, beat me!

All the valkeries say he's crazy...i'm just repeating them! lol

See that's why I found it easy to pair Lothaire with Nix based on what KC had said about her hero being logical, etc..

His book is theoretically supposed to be out next August, but KC wouldn't confirm or deny that in the video. :'(

Yeah, but I think that's just because he's the Enemy of Old and they have no clue what his motivations are. LOL. And because of how ruthless he is. I mean, he did snap Lucia's neck at the drop of a dime, but, to be fair, he did warn Garreth ahead of time.

LOL
I forgot somewhere along the line that he had sex, with who? Did it say? I'm not sure in the large groups that everyone+Lothaire has been in that they would notice or care if his heart was beating.

I think that they would notice if his heart was beating, because he has made so many enemies, if I were them I would want to know, that way I could steal his Bride, didn't they say in Conrads book that you can do nothing worse to a vamp then steal his Bride

Hmm...I don't remember that. I remember hearing that a witch had sex with a vamp, but I don't recall them naming him...

He has a lot of enemies, but the only characters we know who are actively after him are Ryd and Sabine. But I've never seen mention of him breathing or someone noticing his heart beating, at least not that I remember. It's likely that if they had realized he was blooded, they'd be trying to figure out his Bride's identity to use her as leverage.
About the sex thing, I'm sure he'd had plenty of sex before he transitioned into an immortal and his body "died," so there are probably females out there who've had sex with him.

LOL. That was Myst. As far as I know the only vamp she ever laid was Nikolai...

Not necessarily...cs like that one guy, Emma's dad was blooded, but then he went rogue and broke her heart and he was still blooded.

Hmm...I don't think so. I think that once the Bride breaks their seal, so to speak, it's done for good. Demestriu was the only vamp in the series who this happened to, but I don't remember if it was mentioned whether or not he was still breathing, etc.

ah...i get it...it actually sounds plausible..cool.

I know, I'm totally pulling stuff out of my ass right now but it's kind of fun. :)

Hmm. I forgot about the Smeagol act at the end of Lucia's book.
What if Lothaire has a connection to the hidden naturally born vampires and the ring is a talisman to bring them back from a hidden plane? Then we would be able to get Kristoff's book next since he is looking for his relations and KC did say on her video chat that she was moving Furie's story up.

Way to make my theory sound more plausible!
I finally finished DftD and am still working on theories and my opinion but when I came across this quote…
”You want your ring?” Lothaire’s deep voice sounded. “Then come and get it, you bitch!”
…I thought, “That right there makes a case for her being his ex-wife.” But at this point I don’t think she is/was his mate.
My original belief that Nïx was destined for Lothaire was based on this definition from the Lore Glossary.
In the first chaos of the Lore, a brotherhood of vampires dominated, by relying on their cold nature, worship of logic, and absence of mercy. They sprang from the harsh steppes of Dacia and migrated to Russia, though some say a secret enclave, the Daci, live in Dacia still.
KC has said Nïx’s hero will be logical and focused. Lothaire being one of the Daci could explain why he keeps trying to make alliances. Maybe the ring of power has to do with bringing the Daci back.

Sorry for being so long-winded tonight. After finishing this book my mind is just bursting with ideas.

LOL. Yeah, I am going to go down with the ship.

Yeah, this is why I jumped on the Nix/Lothaire ship to begin with. It just makes sense to me because they've both played significant roles in the series, and this before either of them has even gotten a book. I think it would just be weird if KC brought in a completely new guy for Nix. He'd only have that one book to prove that he was worthy of her, so he'd have to be mighty impressive.

About the Lothaire/La Dorada pairing: I was discussing it with a GR friend the other day, she came up with the same theory. I wouldn't be surprised but I don't think if would make sense.
First of all: how will La Dorada turn into a beautiful woman? I know weirder things have happened in the Lore, but: she was a mummie when she had her ring, she stayed a mummie when she lost it, I don't see any reason for her to change when she regains it.
Second of all -and I think this is more important- so far the couplings have always resulted in a benefit for the Lore. Evil characters, or characters with the potential to be evil, were coupled up with 'good' characters (look what happened with Conrad, Sabine and Malkom).
If La Dorada and Lothaire end up together, Lothaire will be pushed (even more) towards evil. That's why I wouldn't be surprised if Lothaire ended up with Annika.
Another reason why it would make sense for Lothaire to end up with a Valkyrie is the fact that in aHLNO he shifted to Val Hall. How did he do that if he never was there before?
I originally saw that as proof that he'd be paired with Nix (same with the fact that in Untouchable Daniela heard Nix talking to someone in an alleyway, but when she turned the corner, the mysterious person was gone, like he had shifted away).
But apparently it isn't meant to be *grumble grumble*.
