Mel (mel_b) | 45 comments True Anja. Quality before quantity.
I was fortunate to get an early copy of DftD. I'm curious how everyone likes it. I'm on the fence about it. It was generally very entertaining (as Cole's books always are) and I loved Malkom (intense!). But the story started to drag on towards the end and I couldn't quite connect with Carrow. I liked her when she was sarcastic, but she could also be a bit melodramatic.
I gave it three stars -3,5 really- which is (too) low but I couldn't bring myself to give the book the same rating as the Wroth's or Woede books, which I gave 4 stars. But I kinda feel a bit guilty...

message 52: by Anja (new) - rated it 3 stars

Anja | 95 comments Well I feel guilty for giving 3 stars to several of the books in this series but Kresley Cole still allows me to buy the next one so the guilt is easily displaced. Also, my 3's for IAD are higher than 3's from other authors I've read.

I'm looking forward to Intense Malkom.

message 53: by Mel (new) - rated it 3 stars

Mel (mel_b) | 45 comments I know what you mean :)

I'll think you'll very much enjoy Malkom. Although he is a little rough around the edges. Like I wrote in my review: he makes Lachlain seem like a pussy cat.

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 309 comments Oh right, I thought you meant she wasn't writing them anymore lol That's okay, 6 months apart isn't too bad, most authors seem to do a book yearly so still relatively quick. I would also rather they be really good, rather then rushed through to get them out on time.

message 55: by Ez (new) - rated it 4 stars

Ez (ezrah-rah) I'm with you there, Suzanne! Six months isn't too bad all things considered.

Mandapanda | 4 comments Only 8 more hours and this book will be released on Kindle! Hurry Uuuuppp!!!!

message 57: by Ez (new) - rated it 4 stars

Ez (ezrah-rah) I have to wait for mine to come in the mail. Should be here tomorrow, though! I'm excited. :)

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 309 comments I have to wait until September, what cover are you getting I seem to be getting this one:

Demon from the Dark (Immortals After Dark, #10) by Kresley Cole

message 59: by Mel (new) - rated it 3 stars

Mel (mel_b) | 45 comments What?!? You're not getting the bare chested guy-cover? What a waste. Besides: the other cover is a good depiction of Malkom: the big torso, the clefted chin, the tattoo. Just the piercings are missing...

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 309 comments I know : ( I want to change it, but I guess I must be getting the UK cover which is different, and I don't want to screw up my order and get nothing *sighs* life is hard lol

message 61: by Mel (new) - rated it 3 stars

Mel (mel_b) | 45 comments LOL. Did you also get the elfboy cover of Lover Mine?

message 62: by Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) (last edited Aug 24, 2010 11:41AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 309 comments I got this one:

Lover Mine (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #8) by J.R. Ward

Which I was waaaaaaaaay peeved about I wanted the sexy red covered one:

Lover Mine (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #8) by J.R. Ward

Clearly we British just can't take the heat!

message 63: by Mel (new) - rated it 3 stars

Mel (mel_b) | 45 comments LOL, you got elfboy! I ordered my paperback version of LM. So if all goes well I'll be having two red hot JM covers on my shelf :)

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 309 comments Show off : ) Sure you don't wanna swap for elf boy lol

message 65: by Ez (new) - rated it 4 stars

Ez (ezrah-rah) I'm getting the cover in the group's pic, which I'm happy about!

Poor you, Suzanne! That cover of LM is pretty lame.

Ez (ezrah-rah) Did anyone watch KC's live broadcast on Ustream yesterday? I'm watching it now, since I missed it. She talks about DftD. (There are spoilers for the identity of Regin's hero in the broadcast, but not anything else.)

You know what would be REALLY showing off? If I told you I got Lover Mine three weeks before release date. Muahahahahahaaaaaa...

I'm trying to watch it now but the sound is not in sync with the video and it is driving me nucking futs.

message 69: by Ez (new) - rated it 4 stars

Ez (ezrah-rah) Mine is okay. A little bit off here and there. Maybe start it again and try to skip forward?

message 70: by Ez (new) - rated it 4 stars

Ez (ezrah-rah) I love that she's drinking a vodka and cranberry juice during the chat. LOL.

Anja | 95 comments Harper wrote: "I love that she's drinking a vodka and cranberry juice during the chat. LOL."

She just needs a splash of pineapple and she'll have my favorite drink.

If I pause it and play again it syncs for a bit before geting out of whack. I am just going with the flow.

message 73: by Ez (new) - rated it 4 stars

Ez (ezrah-rah) OMG, she said that Lothaire's book might not be the third of the trilogy, which would be released next August. That would make me sad. :( Plus, it would be kind of weird if his didn't come after Regin's given the way "Pleasure of a Dark Prince" ended. Hmm. At least she said his book will be "soon."

And now she says that she's not 100% sure that Furie's book will be last and that Nix's will probably be toward the end, too. Does that mean I have to give up on my dreams of Nix and Lothaire? T_T

message 74: by Anja (new) - rated it 3 stars

Anja | 95 comments I haven't gotten that far in the video yet.

She said on her message board a while back that she definitely was almost positive Lothaire's book would be released in 2011. Maybe she is trying to mislead people so they'll be surprised or maybe she'll have 2 books out next year. Doubtful.

Is there a chance she changed her mind about making Lanthe and Thronos a novella and they could have the 3rd spot? I know they are in this book.

message 75: by Ez (new) - rated it 4 stars

Ez (ezrah-rah) It's possible, Anja! I seem to remember seeing in her forums that Lothaire's book would likely be released in 2011, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed about it. But maybe since Lanthe and Thronos are in DftD. I suppose I wouldn't mind that.

message 76: by Ez (new) - rated it 4 stars

Ez (ezrah-rah) Okay, she just said that Lanthe (and Tera!) will definitely get their own books. So maybe she changed her mind about the novella thing? But she did say that Lanthe's book "isn't in the rotation yet," so I doubt it would be the 3rd in the trilogy...

Ah, speculation is fun! LOL.

message 77: by Anja (new) - rated it 3 stars

Anja | 95 comments I would be fine skipping Nix for now if we got Lanthe/Thronos or Tera/Hild. Or maybe a Lykae twin.

Who started the Nix/Lothaire pairing rumors? Based on clues she's given about Nix's man, I found it easy to associate Lothaire with her.

***spoiler for Regin's man*** We know how those rumors about a certain druglord came and went.

message 78: by Ez (new) - rated it 4 stars

Ez (ezrah-rah) I don't know where they started. I just starting thinking about/hoping for it as I read the series and then I realized that there were others rooting for the Nix/Lothaire pairing, too.

message 79: by Ez (new) - rated it 4 stars

Ez (ezrah-rah) I would like a book for one of the Lykae twins, too. Maybe, maybe...

message 80: by Mel (last edited Aug 24, 2010 01:56PM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Mel (mel_b) | 45 comments Harper wrote: ". Does that mean I have to give up on my dreams of Nix and Lothaire? T_T ..."

Oh no! Nix has to be with Lothaire! I can't and won't except any guy from the street! We need someone who we've known from the very beginning!

From what little you saw in DftD I wouldn't be surprised if the last book of the trilogy turned out to be about Uilleam.

I don't mind waiting longer for Lothaire's books if that implies that Nix's HEA will be towards the ending. I'd like her book to be second to last. And it would be so cool if we could get treated to itty bitty Nix/Lothaire tension in prior books.

What are the clues about Nix's HEA? And who the hell is Hild?

message 81: by Anja (new) - rated it 3 stars

Anja | 95 comments Hild is the male fey archer that was with Tera in Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night during the cave in and escape from the jungle. KC has said wherever Tera is Hild wants to be. I'd love to read their story.

message 82: by Mel (new) - rated it 3 stars

Mel (mel_b) | 45 comments Oh yeah. Thanks for reminding me, Anja :)

Well, Anja just answered about Hild. LOL.

The only clues about Nix's HEA is this, something KC posted in her forums:

"Nix's hero is everything she isn't: logical, focused, lucid. He works in a highly dangerous job, and RaquelTheBell, the guy isn't really understanding. He gets very impatient with her."

I think I'd be upset if her hero was a completely new character because she's been such a prominent part of the series. :/

message 86: by Ez (new) - rated it 4 stars

Ez (ezrah-rah) We just posted that at almost the same exact time, Anja. LOL.

message 87: by Mel (new) - rated it 3 stars

Mel (mel_b) | 45 comments He works in a higly dangerous job?!? My god, he sounds human!

message 88: by Anja (new) - rated it 3 stars

Anja | 95 comments There is always the CIA that Nix mentions briefly in Dark Desires After Dusk.

message 89: by Ez (new) - rated it 4 stars

message 91: by Anja (new) - rated it 3 stars

Anja | 95 comments Don't forget that Michael is human but KC has a plan to make him a hero for Cara.

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 309 comments Cara, who's Cara?

If we can't have Lothaire's book, I am hoping for Uilleam, you never have enough Lykae!

message 93: by Ez (new) - rated it 4 stars

Ez (ezrah-rah) Cara is Furie's twin sister, if I'm remembering right. She's only been mentioned in a couple of books.

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 309 comments I am getting Demon from the Dark tomorrow!! Woohoo!

Wminbc | 89 comments I only have like 80 pages left...work gets in the way of reading (LOL). Lovin' it so far...no spoilers...
Will review though on my blog when I am done

I must be the only one that doesn't want Lothaire with Nixie...I wanted him to be with maybe someone/something he doesn't understand or perhaps Sabines' child...something more, mystical and beyond him...someone to make him be better. Nix, she needs a a real man's man. A guy that won't tolerate her craziness...Lothaire reminds me in a lot of ways to Ash. He is misunderstood and can't wait to learn his past.

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 309 comments I actually agree with you Wminbc, I don't particually want Lothaire and Nix to get together either. Although I have no idea who else she would be getting with, maybe some one new. Kresley Cole said she was planning on doing a load more books for IAD and Nix's book was going to be almost last so she has time to introduce a new possibilty for her...

Did anyone else watch the KC video? Lol i loved that she turned it into a drinking game! And also after her reading an extract from it I really want to read the bath scene!

message 98: by Anja (new) - rated it 3 stars

Anja | 95 comments I could go either way regarding Nix and Lothaire. I don't think they will hook up because I don't think KC will put two characters together that have severe issues. She tends to put opposites together but not exactly two crazies.

I agree with you, Wminbc, that Nix needs a strong man. I think Nix's man will be someone new to us. Maybe the CIA guy. Or Gamboa. Or Gamboa is the CIA guy.

I thought KC's video chat was great. She certainly kept herself entertained.

message 99: by Ez (last edited Aug 27, 2010 12:12AM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Ez (ezrah-rah) Hmmm...Gamboa and Nix. There's one I hadn't considered. I've seen some people rooting for Lothaire to wind up with Annika, but I don't know. Guess we'll find out eventually!

Anyway, I just finished DftD. Here is a link to my review. There aren't any spoilers, but I did do a brief summary of the plot that gives you a better idea what the book is about than the blurb on the back.

message 100: by Anja (new) - rated it 3 stars

Anja | 95 comments I'm just going to keep tossing out potential heroes and eventually I will get it right. Kind of like with the celebrity magazines. If you accuse someone of being pregnant enough, eventually they will be and you can claim you confirmed it first.
