I saw her live in the early 90's opening for the Blasters. She has some corrosive pipes, that girl.

I could never get that winRAR thing to work. What's an iPod?

I gave Heidi a nickname a while back. I'll let her reveal it if she wants.

Which one are you talking about, Gus? "Heidi Salami"??
That was it, Heidi.
Barb, LOVE the Philosopher Kings' track.
Sally, see comment # 304.

I think I did follow msg 304, and I think I decompressed them, barb. *sob* I feel like my mother.

We're getting there..."
Glad to hear it.

I could be coerced talk into posting all my previous Shebangs online. Might take me a couple of days, but if anyone's interested, let me know.

NEVER!

::fingers crossed, wondering if the shebangs include anything from the Ass Clowns::

NEVER!"
Meany. :(
I see what you're saying, Misha. For me, it's not a big deal; I've put my Shebangs on a .zip file, complete with liner notes, playlists, and artwork, so it's not a problem for me to upload them. I just need to make the time to do so.

That said, I wouldn't participate in an electronic shebang. Again, this is my own personal opinion, and I don't apply it to anyone other than me, but for me it feels too much like stealing music from the artists. I don't mind sharing a couple of songs with a couple of people in the name of getting some new fans for musicians I like, but electronic sharing feels a little too widespread for me.

(Although I love getting mail, so fuck you, mother earth!:)
I didn't think you were grumpy, Misha. I just wanted to make sure I understood...I didn't understand, but I do now.:)
I'll do the electronic Shebang for folks who haven't or couldn't participate, just so they'll know what they missed.
However, I am sending this latest Shebang via snail mail to a select few this time around.

At least I decided on a theme. I'm just having trouble narrowing down my songs to something that will fit on a disc. :)

p.s. I will miss your lovely cover art and the little personal touches when we go electronic! But I'll still be an enthusiastic participant!

It was Phil, who suggested doing electronic shebangs. Not you, Barb. All you did was give everyone a free shebang.

If we go the electronic route, I'm done like dinner. I can burn a mean, shiny new CD-R that produces sound when you zap it with a laser beam, but mp3's? Not so much...

Cute, kiddo, real cute.
Cute, kiddo, real cute.

So here's the deal. I love good music of any genre. Problem is, I'm not very good at finding it on my own. By listening to the favored selections of people who are true music aficionados, I can discover bands and sounds that I never would have otherwise.
But I don't have the knowledge, background and artistry to put together my own playlist, and that prevents me from participating in your exchanges. Thus, no new music to explore.
Having a shebang online would move it from the elite world of the artists (you who participate) into the realm of the common man. It would be like having a dozen "iTunes Geniuses" helping me find new stuff.
I would still purchase the tunes I intend to keep, because that's just the dork I am.

Er, more like eleven iTunes geniuses and one fifty-something disciple of vinyl, turntables, old-school Brit punk, garage bands, and mix tapes.

Phil, it doesn't take much in the way of artistry or knowledge. You should join us sometime. In any case, the playlists get posted eventually and you can see which songs people liked best and then preview them on iTunes and buy them.

I've done that a couple of times. The iTunes snippets, though, are not really too helpful. I like to hear the whole song to see where it takes me.
Anything I put together would likely be a compilation of billboard top 100 stuff from various decades. From the great stuff I've heard suggested here, I don't think that would go over well. Like introducing a turd at the flower sniffing party. I'll make do, though, in the manner you suggested.
