My mother didn't used to be very supportive of my being hard of hearing either, but now that she is starting to go deaf herself she's very accepting and has even been showing interest in learning some signs. I'm proud of her. I hope your mother starts showing more of an interest as well.

My mom doesn't know sign, but she wants to learn. I sign to my niece, some of my siblings, several of my friends, and some of my teachers. I started signing to my dog too, I want her to respond to signs instead of speaking.
I'm Deaf because I had tubes in my ears when I was a toddler and they stayed in too long and left a hole. Doctors tried to patch the hole several times and ended up just making my hearing worse. It's because of scar tissue and the hole, not because of something to do with the nerve.

oh ok, That good you sign to your niece How you sign to your dog to When your techers start signing..Can she speak too just like you
Water in your ears bc you stay under water to long so Doctors sides you have hole in your ears. I born I was soo sickchild I got I turn 1 year old i got sick bad.

My teacher started signing when her husband started losing his hearing.
How did you get sick?

Well, it's hard to have a best friend over goodreads but I'd love to be your friend. :)

I haven't been raised in a Deaf family, which is why I never learned sign and why I went through surgeries to "fix" me. The more I learn about the Deaf Culture, the more I realize my Deaf beliefs. Though I'm still learning a lot, I do identify as Deaf now. I used to be embarrassed about my hearing and I didn't tell anyone, even my teachers, but now I'm proud of who I am.
