I need help naming my characters!

The first one is a girl. When she was born, her parents (I haven't decided why yet) did everything in their power to keep her from speaking. She never spoke a single word in her life, and a lot of people think she's mute. Because she's never spoken her opinion anything of the sort, she's pretty much learned not to interfere with anything, just to stick in the shadows and watch because she thinks herself to be an insignificant nobody.

I would prefer the name to start with an "N", but honestly, I'm so desperate for a name that I don't even really care what letter it starts with...

The second character is a guy, who's pretty much a mermaid. Well, actually, he's not really a mermaid, with the tail and all that stuff, but he does live underwater... He tries to be nice, when really, he's kind of mean and has a short temper. He is very indecisive. He is also kind of important... His father is somewhat a king... I would like the name to start with a "C", but like I said before, it doesn't really matter.

Can anyone pretty please help me find a name? :)

HELP! I can't figure out what to name this character, and it's bugging the daylights out of me. Here's a description if his personality and his looks.

Personality: Speaks his mind on most matters and says what needs to be said. If he's outside, he's probably picking at the grass--his hands need to be busy, but he's not necessarily fidgety. I'm not sure how to explain it... His favorite color is... uh... forest green? Or maybe a pale blue. He hides his deeper emotions (anger, sadness, love, fear) a lot of the time, or at least he only shows them subtly. He's quick to laugh and has a really big smile when he does. Sometimes it takes effort to get him to be serious, unless someone is in danger. In that case he's extremely protective. He was a bit of a trouble-maker as a kid, but he realized his mistakes and (mostly) grew out of it. He has a high threshold for pain when it comes to himself, but he doesn't enjoy pain for most others. He can make hasty or rash decisions a lot of the time because anger or other emotions cloud how he sees the present.

Appearance: Dark hair that's naturally a little spiky; Polynesian; dark brown eyes; long eyelashes; about 6'1"; slender.


This is very important because he's the romantic interest and kind of the leader. Anyway, I'm stuck between two names: Abel and Gabriel. I love them both.... Argh.

From your description of him I'd go with the name Abel, or maybe Abe if it's set in modern time.

Abel means "a breath" and Gabriel means "Hero of God". It's futuristic, but I thought it would be cool to have older names come back into style. So he would just be Abel.

I really love the name Abel, but I can't let go of Gabriel for some odd reason. Harrumph.
