Gary This sounds like it could be excellent.

Richard The Road - when you consider that it is an aging McCarthy writing a book for his son, who is very young and who the author knows he will not live to see become a man the book takes on a very different aspect.

As a post war survival novel it is bitterly emotionally manipulative, as a book from an aging father to his son it's quite something. McCarthy's son inherits all the profits from the book

All up I liked it, but I preferred McCarthy's Border Trilogy - All The Pretty Horses and Cities on the Plain were brilliant, the middle one not so much so

Georg i like the book for its occasional sparks of love and compassion that still exist even in the dieing world of 'the road'.
