audible.com anyone?

I got an i-touch for Christmas and let's just say I am becoming a bit addicted to podcasts, etc. When listening to one of my many podcasts on British History 101 they were mentioning audible.com and the audiobooks, etc that is offered. From what I gathered its a bit like netflix in subscritpion but not quite able to "checkout" a lot each month (one or two a month without extra cost). I was wondering if anyone subscribed to it and what their opinion was of this service. Anyone??

I love audible. One book per month, but it is yours forever. Of course you can order more but pay more. But it really isn't anything like netflix.

What is great about audible is their selection is incredible. Also, it is very easy to download to your itouch. I plug it into my car and listen to a book driving to work every day. I swear by it.

Thanks Meg I was a bit confused...granted I was using my i-touch trying to read the tiny screen and everything. I am very tempted into joining. I will have to deabate which plan to choose from. Also do I want to pay for a year in advance. I like the part about owning the book!

Well mention my name, I think we get a free month that way, and they always have deals, like you sign up as a friend, and then they will give you an additional few months. Also they have great sales sporadically where you can buy $5 books. Regardless, it is great.

Have you been able to give a downloaded audiobook to a friend to listen to when you're finished Meg? I haven't figured out how to do that. I don't think it's allowed. And it should be if you're buying the book, I think.
