Yes, except for the few occasion where the writer pointed out that they were changing languages to accommodate...

yep... clare is right. :D mostly they spoke japanese but they occasionally spoke english.

I didn't figure out it was mostly Japanese until the end. Do they live in the same city Tally lived in?

no japenses live in tokoyo i read the uglies guide and they live in our future MESSED UP continent and she lives by Diego,California

That makes the whole book take on a different feel. I didn't realize that they were speaking Japanese until Tally came into the story. Where is the Uglies guide?

I'm on Chapter 3. Clues so far: Asian-esque names, "Moggle-chan," discussion of people recovering old traditions like haiku and tea ceremonies.

But I hadn't yet guessed that they were in Japan -- just that there were more Asians. :)
