SOLVED: Anthology of stories from different eras. One has plague (wife dies and husband thinks she's still alive), one has a hippy commune. (Might be called "Millennium" but still need to know author so I can find it) [s]

Unfortunately, I'm fairly certain the book is called "Millennium". But there are thousands of books with "Millennium" in the title, so I'm never going to find it unless I know an author name.

I still can't even recall if it's actually an anthology with several authors or just short stories by the same author. There's 10 stories. I thought it was one for each decade, but that might not make sense if it *is* called Millennium.

The most stand-out story of the lot is involving the plague, and that is seriously revolting. The guy is helping at the hospital, but his wife meanwhile gets sick and dies. He goes a little crazy and keeps looking after her as if she's alive. I think in the end he dies too (That's not really a spoiler).

I would have read it at the end of the 90s.

Anyway, it's driving me nuts not being able to find this book. No matter how many keywords I exclude from Google searches I never seem to get any closer to finding out who it was by (or if I even recall the right name). I really hope someone knows the book!

OMG I just solved my own question. The answer was Revelations. I'm still certain it wasn't called that in Australia though.

There's just enough detail in some of the reviews here that I found it eventually.

It did help that I finally realised I wasn't searching for plague, but Spanish Flu or Purple Death.

Anyway, sorted. *looks sheepish*
