Bekah (bekah317) | 2750 comments I mostly read in my bed....it's the most comfy spot in my house, plus..i have a bulging disc in my back...so...any pressure off that spot is great!

message 7: by [deleted user] (last edited Mar 30, 2010 10:30AM) (new)

LOL, Danielle, your're a nut!!!

I have a big chair in the living room by the fireplace. That's where I read this time of year.

I also have a room in the upper back portion of the house(used to be maids quarters), that has a rocking chair that was my great grandmothers, it's sooo quiet up there I love it!

I have a wooden rocking chair on the catwalk that overlooks the foyer that I occassional sit in and read.

When the weather is nice, I usually pick one of porches to read on(I have 3 of them)...it usually depends on which side of the house the kids are playing on where I sit....Pics of the porches will have to wait until the snow is gone cause there are no chairs on them at the moment.(unless I can find some pictures I already have)

Holly (velvetsun) | 144 comments Heidi, I LOVE your house! I'm so jealous!

I usually read in my bedroom. I have a chair next to my bed, and I usually sit there and forget about the world. :)

It is nice, Danielle. Especially when it is sunny, warm, and not windy. I'll have to take pics when everything is blooming.

message 19: by Verity (new)

Verity | 21 comments Sorry, folks. I don't have any pics to post. I can only describe my 'bedroom' (where I do my reading mostly) as 'pink'. I'm a hello kitty nutcase. I have pink bedroom walls, pink pillowcase, pink blanket, pink throw, pink comforter, pink band-aid, pink covers for my shelves, pink slippers, pink bag to smuggle my novels so irate family won't give me grief for buying a gazillion books, pink hello kitty necklace that my BFF made for me as Xmas gift, pink towels, pink watch, pink mug, pink hair scunci etc. U name it, I got it in pink. All featuring hello kitty.

Heidi, your home sweet home looks so cool. I wanna have a house like yours. I have a fireplace but never use it, merely as decoration. @ my old home, I used to have pink carpet. My current home only has hardwood floor =^2

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 3737 comments I love hardwood floors. We have laminate floors. They're very nice. We decided against hardwood because it is supposed to be more pet-friendly. Not sure of that now. V, your room sounds very cute. I haven't really decorated my room, other than, 'Early Bookaholic', LOL.

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

I read in my office room at home I have a couch in there so when my son falls asleep I go into the office and can read for hours =)

message 22: by Jess (new)

Jess | 21 comments I usually read on my bed in my room, but I also have a really big and comfy couch in the living room that I also like to sit in.

message 23: by Verity (last edited Feb 24, 2010 10:25PM) (new)

Verity | 21 comments I luv dogs, cats & rabbits. Alas I can't have pets anymore since they expired of old age years ago. Laminate floors are nice. I used to have posters of Aragorn & Christian Bale (American Pscyho) but now the only thing hanging is a self-made collage that I did in college art class. My art instructor asked if she could keep my collage to display @ the college gallery but I declined 'cuz I wanted to keep it, 'cuz it's only 1 of the v. few things I succeeded in LOL...

D, would luv to see your & others' home pics. We went house hunting quite a lot in the last 17 yrs 'cuz we kept moving. I luv seeing peeps' awesome cribs =^B

I wish I had a comfy mansion w/ a tennis court & swimming pool but haven't hit the jackpot yet .

magnificent you could so role play in there hhehehe

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

i dont no abut any1 else but i need total silence to read .. dead quiet .. and with 2 little princesses running around whom are always dancing and singing littel drama queens ... quiet time is at the wee lat hours or 10.30pm +

message 26: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (ghemomma) | 900 comments I understand how you feel, completely, Rachael!! I have three daughters and I read wherever I find most quiet at the time! In the living room by the fireplace is my favorite spot, my bedroom, the kitchen, the bathroom... you get the point, wherever it is quiet! Usually I don't read until about 8pm though, that is their bedtime!

I dream of one day living in a beautiful mansion on an estate too, Verity! My favorite house is this one house in the town I live in. It is for sale, if only I had 2 million dollars to buy it! It is the house that inspired Margaret Mitchell's Twelve Oaks Plantation in Gone With The Wind. I love the house and drive by it often wishing it were mine.

Bekah (bekah317) | 2750 comments wow, that is beautiful Cheryl! I wouldn't want to clean it.

Verity - post a pic of your collage! We'd love to see your art.

message 28: by Danielle The Book Huntress , Certifiable St. Vinnie's Ninny (new)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 3737 comments Oh, that is a beautiful place. I wonder if it's haunted??? (Don't mind me, I'm weird).

V, when I get my library set up, I'll post pics. It's still kind of rough, right now.

I love making collages. I'd love to see yours, V.

I would love a big house in the country (but not too far in the country), with lots of land and animals. I'd love to raise cows, goats, sheep, and horses.

message 29: by Alycia (new)

Alycia | 1478 comments Love the house Cheryl! It does look remarkably similar to the GWTW house.

Rachael, I like quiet too. I can do music if I am familiar with it and it's not too loud. But I don't have any children running around the house to distract either :)

message 30: by [deleted user] (last edited Feb 25, 2010 09:54AM) (new)

Would love quiet but that seldom happens whe get a chance to read, usually my daughter hs the Tv on, and my hubby and son are in the other living room with that Tv on playing video games and listening to music or watching hockey. My son might be playing his guitar or practicing his drums...my daughter might be playing the piano or clarinet or singing...as I said rarely quiet around here, and all these things are usualy going on at once!!! But I just tune it all out and become engrossed!!

message 31: by Anne OK (new)

Anne OK (anne-ok) | 99 comments You'll find me in my little den/office where I like to curl up in my big old comfy chair and put my feet up on the ottoman (in the winter I'm wrapped in a blanket or quilt) with my favorite beverage and my little dog, Clementine, snoozing at my feet. I prefer it absolutely quiet but that doesn't often happen.

message 32: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (ghemomma) | 900 comments Danielle- not sure if it is said to be haunted, I have not heard that and couldn't find anything on the web about it. But I'm with you, I'm fascinated by old places that are haunted!

If anyone would like to donate to help me purchase the house I'd be nice enough to let you come visit! ;)
