message 1: by Jon (new)

Jon (jonmoss) | 529 comments I finished the standalone fantasy novel the Master of Whitestorm (my review) last night and I'm half finished with A Study in Scarlet, both of which I'm enjoying immensely.

I started reading the next Vorkosigan novel this morning - Memory.

After Memory, I'll read Flesh and Spirit by Carol Berg.

Not sure where I'll head after that. I'm not enthused by my book club reading for February/March, so I may just tackle more of my own-but-unread shelf. I will read a few mysteries this month as part of my local library's Readers in the Rue Morgue contest. Typically, it doesn't take me long to read through a good mystery, so those will be fun.

message 2: by Amelia (new)

Amelia (narknon) I just started our month's read: the Master of Whitestorm. Then I also want to read the other one: Song of Arbonne.

Plus I want to keep reading George RR Martin's books. I finished the first two in the Sword of Ice and Fire and now I want to read the other two, but it took me longer to read them than I thought it would, so I might wait a bit to read the others.

I also have The Crown Conspiracy waiting in the wings. It sounds so good.

It's so hard to say for sure. I'm a one book person. I don't like to be reading more than one book at a time, yet I have so many books I want to read.

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments Reading A Song for Arbonne by Kay for the group discussion. I think the prose is kind of odd and uneven, but I like it all right so far.

message 4: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Dixon (ronempressblogspotcom) I'm waiting for the galley of "Under Heaven" by Kay. The drool is running down my lip in expectation. For all you who are interested, I'll let you know when and where the review is posted.

In the meanwhile, I'm reading "Maledicte."

message 5: by Landon (new)

Landon | 20 comments I'm finishing up Last Argument Of Kings, and I am going to read the First Thomas Covenent series. Afterwards I'm thinking of reading Red Seas Under Red Skies, before starting the Wheel of Time Series that is sure to occupy me until the end of the year.

message 6: by Arthur (new)

Arthur (astra) 1/4 into When True Nights Falls by Celia S. Friedman. Coldfire Trilogy, Book2.
Good sequence so far. Not enough depth but very much readable.

message 7: by Chris (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 916 comments I started the Vlad Taltos series by Steven Brust with Jhereg last week, and Yendi this week. I'm enjoying these quite a bit.

I also started Intensity by Dean Koontz so that Becky would get off my back about it squee for me.

I have plans to get to the group reads for this month too, in time to join discussions.

Once that's all set, I'll probably add some Joe Abercrombie to the mix.

message 8: by Julie (new)

Julie I'm also reading A Song for Arbonne, something new, although I actually had to buy the hardcopy because it wasn't available on Kindle. I also want to read the Master of Whiteborn. I've most of Janny's other books but haven't read that one yet. After that I'll have to see what jumps out off of my to-read list....maybe the new one by Robin Hobb.

message 9: by Jon (new)

Jon (jonmoss) | 529 comments I finished Memory (my review) early Sunday morning. Later, after watching two movies and gorging myself on chili and cherry pie, I started reading Flesh and Spirit by Carol Berg. The first chapter, while only ten pages long, grabbed my attention. I like her prose and can't wait to pick it up again this evening.

message 10: by Jon (new)

Jon (jonmoss) | 529 comments I finished Flesh and Spirit (my review) yesterday. It was extremely hard not to continue right on to Breath and Bone, which I have in my possession. But I wanted to read a couple of library books first that are due in next week: Arms-Commander and The Red Wolf Conspiracy. I'm already one-fifth to one-quarter of the way through Arms-Commander ... I love Recluce! :)

message 11: by Jon (new)

Jon (jonmoss) | 529 comments I finished Arms-Commander (my review) yesterday evening and started reading Nyphron Rising this morning, which I might finish today thanks to another snow storm rolling through Kansas.

message 12: by Julie (new)

Julie Snow Storm....it's ice here in KC. *sigh* Now if the car would stop sliding down the driveway I might be able to finish A Song for Arbonne. *grin*

message 13: by Arthur (new)

Arthur (astra) Just finished When True Nights Falls by Celia S. Friedman Coldfire Trilogy, Book2 and started Crown of Shadows Coldfire Trilogy, Book3(and the last in the trilogy).

I would say I expected a bit more from the series considering how much price it receives on the Internet. Though it is not bad. 6-7 out of 10.
Damien annoys me with his religious fervency and preaching and prayers. I would not miss him if he were to go. If not for him, I would rate the series 8 out of 10.

On the other hand, I do like Tarrant.

!!!SPOILERS!!!

Jenseny's sacrifice probably is the most powerful moment and it was sad to loose Hesseth :(

!!!END of SPOILERS!!!

The Epilogue is also very intriguing and gripping and I am looking forward to read the last book.
