by Sarah Rees Brennan is the only one that comes to mind. It's newer than the Immortal Instruments series I think. I haven't actually read it so I could be wrong about any similarities but her and Cassandra Clare seem kind of like author buddies.

ooo, I loved Simon. Thought he brought excellence to the point of his character. He wasn't supposed to be a strong character until the end. Most of the story was based upon Jace & Clary, so adding in Simon, I believe, was mostly for the forwarding of the plot and such. When he comes into his own in the end, it's because he was meant to. I picture him with horn rim glasses even though technically he doesn't need them... vampires, what can you do?
