I'm guessing the Spring Challenge is March - May?
yay for the Throw In The Towel task.
Read a book with march, april or may in the title (not necessarily as the name of the month).
Wow, everyone has such great suggestions!I'd suggest having a task that encourages reader to read books about other countries, like "Fall Challenge 15.8 Geography Lessons - Read Two Books That Take Place Countries That Correspond To Your Initials." or "Fall Challenge 15.5 Time To Study Abroad (Foreign Language) - Read 2 Books That Were Originally Published In The Same Foreign Language (One You Don't Speak Fluently)." I'd choose a different way than your initials for choosing countries, though.
I also liked "Winter Season 35.1 FUN WITH THE DEWEY DECIMAL SYSTEM" because it encourages non-fiction reading. The mechanism PJREADS used was too restrictive (hence all the requests she received concerning: does this book fit?), so maybe a less restrictive mechanism used for picking books? but keep the requirement that it must be non-fiction.
And ... I'd second Lyn M's suggestion "For March 17th - Read a book set in Ireland, or written by an Irish author"

Its Spring - Days are getting longer, brighter, and warmer. Read a book with a compartive adjective in the title. (ex: greener, bigger, better, fastest, more, better, best, etc)
Spring Cleaning: Read a book with a cleaning related word in the title - mop, sponge, soap, sparkling, clean, etc
"Beware the Ides of March" - read one book in which a murder occurs.
Some people think the month of April is cursed. The following events all took place in April: Hitler's Birthday, Sinking of the Titanic, Columbine, Waco, Oklahoma City Bombing, Abraham Lincoln Assassination, 1906 San Francisco Earthquake, The Texas City Explosion, Martin Luther King Jr. Assassination, Chernobyl, and taxes are due. Read a book that is related to one of these events. (PS: I know you could come up with a list like this for any month if you tried, but you can find people who say its worse than other months).

Many people either give up something for Lent or add in extra positive life changes during Lent. Read a book that betters your faith, whatever that may be.

Read a book written by an author living on a continent you've never visited.Lists lovers: Choose a "best of list" (such as 1001 Books to Read Before You Die, Modern 100, Newsweek's Top 100 Books), and then use a random method (such as rolling dice, picking titles out of a hat, a random number generator) to select 5 books from the list. Read one of the randomly chosen books that you haven't read before.
Read a book that has at least 100 ratings and an average rating greater than 4.25.

Also, when looking at any of the popular books list the average rating & the number of ratings are listed below in faint hard-to-read gray, and it is also the first bit of information in the gray box on an individual book's page.

That will show me the avg rating of a book but will not find a selection of books with a specific avg rating.
Rhyming Scheme: Read 2 books with rhyming words. You might read Little House on the Prairie and Cat & Mouse. Opposites Attract: Read a book that has opposites in the title (for example-- Lost & Found or Little House in the Big Woods)
I'm so excited to see the task list!!!! The winter challenge was my first one. I didn't do so hot, but feel like I learned a lot about how to plan accordingly.I love Manday's idea about April.
Choose a 25- or 30-Point Task from the Winter Challenge that you did not have time to start. Post the task when claiming points. If you finished all of the 25- and 30-Point Tasks, choose one to do again with different books.
Baby brain is preventing me from doing anything truly productive today, so I have more ideas! :)- The Iditarod is from March 6 – 21 – Read a book that features a dog as a main character or a hero
- March 7 – 13 is Celebrate Your Name Week – Read a book by an author/about a character who shares your first name (or a close approximation of it if you have an unusual name)
- March 10 -11 is the Global Marathon For, By and About Women in Engineering and Technology – Read a book about a woman or man who works in a profession that is typically dominated by the other gender (i.e. a male nurse, a female construction worker, etc).
- April is Car Care Month – Read a book with a picture of a car on the cover
- May is National Physical Fitness & Sports Month – Read a book that features a type of sport/fitness activity OR has the name of a sport/activity in the title (not necessarily a spring sport)
- May is National Photo Month – Read a book with a photograph on its cover, or a book that contains photographs
- May 7 is No Pants Day – Read a book that has any article of clothing BUT pants in the title
- The Scripps National Spelling Bee is May 26-27 – Read a book with an often-misspelled word in its title (http://www.yourdictionary.com/library...)

I like the "No Pants Day," "Celebrate Your Name Week," and "National Spelling Bee" task ideas, Jen B. They all sound like fun (especially the name one)!

As in "April showers bring May flowers."
I'd broaden the possibilities: For showers: showers, rain, raindrops, rainy, any word that has to do with liquid precipitation / For flowers: flowers, any word that has a flower name in it (like violets, roses, lilys, etc.)

Depends if you want to go with words or with pictures.

May has Mothers Day. How about a book where the character/s are mothers or grandmothers or there is Mother in the title. St. Patricks Day, a book about Ireland, or with Green on the cover, or a book about luck/lucky (shamrock)
May also has Cinco De Mayo-read a book about a holiday that is not a holiday that your country celebrates.
May also has "towel Day" as a tribute to Douglas adams, author of "hitchhikers guide to the galaxy" Read a book where the author or a character is named doug or adam

April - May - June have alot of weddings, more so than any other season. How about a task related to weddings? Non-fiction about weddings or wedding planning, or fiction with a wedding or the planning of a wedding as a main event (regardless of whether or not the wedding actually occurs), or with the word "wedding" or "wed" in the title.
How about a book with "spring" or "forward" in the title for daylight savings time?

Here's another idea:Blue Moon
March 1, 2010 and March 30, 2010 are both full moons, making March 30, 2010 a "blue moon". Read two books, one with the word "blue" in the title and the other one with the word "moon" in the title. This task can be extended by: the word "blue" OR a blue cover; the word "moon" OR a picture of the moon on the cover.

Pick a subject you'd like to learn more about and read a fiction AND a non-fiction book related to it. For example, if you are interested in archeology you might read Remarkable Creatures and a non-fiction book related to that.
