Baxter,If you look at the Reading List thread and check out older discussions, you will find our discussion of OSCAR WAO. We read it last year. It was a challenging but interesting book.

Alright, thanks. I had a feeling you guys had talked about it before.
Sherry,This isn't the actual discussion. These are comments leading up to the discussion. When we were discussing this book, it was at the time that we would click on the icon down below. What happened to all of those discussions? I can't find them.
I was just looking for them. That discussion took place before they implemented the feature where you could add the book within the discussion and it would show up under the book. After they did that, then if you didn't do the html for "adding this book" the discussion didn't show up. It's in the ether somewhere. I hope I can find it.
When this issue first came up, Otis supposedly fixed this problem. It seems to be back. I brought it up again in the Feedbacks group.
Baxter, I listened to an excellent audiobook production of Oscar and loved it. I think he's different from the characters that Diaz has created in his short stories, such incredible vulnerability. I also loved his sister, but can't remember her name just now.
The Good Reads fairies must have been at work. I found our original discussion:http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/9...

I started this early today and through school pulled off reading about 30 pages. So far, I am in love with the book. My mom lent the book to me, telling me that she didn't enjoy it much but that I might, and I see why: Oscar reminds me to a great extent of myself, especially on the love of 'The Genres'. Junot's writing style is fantastically conversational, really bringing the story to earth and making what could be boring into a joy.
So that's all I really wanted to say. Just a quick first impression. What does everybody else thing of this book?
