I still paste the NOT A BOOK in front of the titles in the hopes that readers won't choose those "editions" of the "book" to rate. It's amazing, but people think everything on the site is a book apparently. I've seen ratings on items less book-like than music CDs.

Of course, I'm lazy too, and I've seen many NOT A BOOKs and done nothing (yet anyway) with them.

I'm certain that this Blooksucking Fiends is not actually a book but something related to the book (a bundle of books?), but it's got 20 ratings so it'll need a superlibrarian to merge it and recreate it as NOT A BOOK.

(Why are some companies so cheap with ISBNs that they reuse them until they're worn thin and others seem to have so many that they slap 'em on the sides of cartons?)

Both are about money. Many sites (plus many brick-and-mortars) will only list new items with an ISBN, so if you want to sell 10-packs, they must have an ISBN.

It is frustrating, though.

Melody, PDL has an ISBN 13 and I don't see the same one in any other edition. I haven't been deleting those. Rivka, others, should I be? Or Melody, did I miss the duplicate?

The matching ISBN-10 to that PDL is 0310247888, which is in the GR database, but w/o it's ISBN-13. My suggestion is to merge just those two editions, edit in the ISBN-13, and combine back with the other editions.

I'm about to head out the door, but if no one has dealt with it by the time I have a chance, I'll take care of it later.

I got the Me Talk Pretty One Day, except a problem has occurred, which is that the remaining (correct) book does not show up on the combine editions page so I cannot recombine it with the other editions. The book is still there (follow the above link), but it's separate from the others.

This has happened before at least once or twice; not sure if it will self correct or we need to get Otis involved.
