LOL. Well, magic is a good explanation if it's fantasy. :D And it's much better than having no explanation at all.

And my stories aren't scientific or anything... they're just not fantasy...

Redelliot | 8 comments Listen to music, doodle, or sleep. But writer's block doesn't happen to me a whole lot--don't mean to brag or anything.

EDIT: Writer's block doesn't happen to me a whole lot... unless I'm roleplaying. <_> For some reason, characters I don't understand make it tough for me to interact.

haha well the thing is i mostly write fantasy ... so it's all good i suppose ;) except recently i've been doing sci-fi too ... and that's a little more frustrating. lol

message 104: by Amy (new)

Amy (kelairyy) | 137 comments haha I love fantasies. :) You don't have to worry as much about how realistic it is, because of magic. n.n

message 105: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (lettingtheinkdry) Though fantasy is hard too. I am writing this story and I have no Idea where to start. I am like all in the second book and the first isnt started yet. which sounds weird but I talked it all out with my mom and I know how it ends and all. Soo.... I HATE HAVING WRITERS BOCK!!! GOD!!! AHHH!!

message 106: by Amy (new)

Amy (kelairyy) | 137 comments Haha, you've started the second book first?

I know what you mean. =/ I always have the basic idea of the story, but I never know how to start or write it...

message 107: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (lettingtheinkdry) No i mean that I have like really little sections from all three books. It's complicated. Like I know what i'm doing and I write the sections that come into my mind. But so far they are only from the second book. In my opinion the first is always the hardest. *sighs*

See, I've decided to pretty much give up on novels. They take too long, and they aren't where I'm best. I've had the experience though, and it's been good for me.

What I plan to do is finish my stories that are meant to be longer, then focus on short stories and poems and scripts and editing.

dead member..heehee *chuckles quietly to self*

omg brigid, you too? i have conversations with my brain ALL THE TIME!! and i argue with my brain, too!!! my brain will be like "oh look here's a new idea for a story!" and i'll be like "nahh...i don't think it'll work" and then my brain's like "SELLA! WRITE IT!" and i'm like "NO!!!! SHUT UP YOU JERK!! I HAVE ENOUGH STORIES TO WRITE AS IT IS!!" but my brain always ends up winning anyway. :(

♥ Brigid ♥ wrote: "yeah ... that's why all my stories have like no explanations. it's just like, "it happened bcuz ... MAGIC!!! HAHA""

lol same here!!! all my stories are only possible because of magic. XD haha, that show show lame i am...>.< except, sci-fi is harder. because it needs an actual EXPLANATION. urgh. :P i wish i could just write and not worry about any stupid explanations!!

well, i've been thinking about it, and i'm starting to see why some ppl think writer's block "doesn't exist". i mean, really all writer's block is is that you have ideas, but you're afraid they're too stupid or they won't take your story anywhere ... your brain tries too hard to filter out all the crap ... but once you actually write it, even if it isn't the most amazing thing, it helps your brain to keep working and come up with better ideas!!!

okay i don't think that made any sense ... it was all a bunch of brain-barf. >.< lol

message 112: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) brain barf lol

okay, that might be the case sometimes, but other times it's actually that you're completely STUCK. with NOTHING. no ideas. ZIP. ZILCH. and then that IS truly writer's block. =D

don't worry, it wasn't brain barf (lol!). i understood it! :D

message 115: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 5857 comments Mod
okay. lol. well, for me i find that when i have "writer's block" i still have ideas for later on in the story, i just have to get through boring gaps where nothing in particular happens. ><

message 116: by Sella, ov vey! i haven't checked this group in months. >< (new)

Sella Malin | 4530 comments Mod
that's usually the case. but for some stories (once in a while) i'm at a point where there's just NO ideas. AT ALL. Like, stories that I've completely abandoned because I had no ideas for them.

message 118: by Kritika (new)

Kritika (spidersilksnowflakes) Writer's block? hmmm...
I may be the oddball here but I don't think I've ever had writer's block. Once I start writing, it just comes so fast I can't type fast enough! But then, I haven't written anything longer than 7 pages...

♥ Brigid ♥ wrote: "*meep* like shades ... >.<"

no, that's not true!! you still have ideas for shades, you just can't figure out how they'd work, right? it's for something like tulip's cozy tea, where i just DON'T have any ideas for anymore. not even ANY.

well i have a couple random ideas, but not any actually planned scenes ... which is the problem. lol. like, i don't know how to work my ideas into the story. gah.

i have WAAYY to much to do this summer, i don't know how i'm going to survive!!!! i have to do a LOT of things in my writing, go to camp for a month, prepare for my bat mitzvah (if i'm still having it; that is now questionable :( noo), pack for either israel or michigan (i'm either moving to israel with my parents, or going to a writing boarding school in michigan), and...AAAHH!!! TOO MANY THINGS TO DO!!! >.<

Omg I know! I want to go to it SOO BADLY!! But it's not that easy. I have to a) get accepted >.< and b) convince my parents to let me go to michigan while they're going to live in israel, a completely different continent! >_< Plus the tuition is really expensive. So I dunno if I can go...but I WANT TO SOOO BAD!!!!

message 134: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (lettingtheinkdry) Yah another continent is a bit of a strech..
I hope you get accepted though! :)

I know, I want to go to the boarding school SO much! Israel...not so much. >< I mean, I don't think I'm up to living someplace where the whole entire language and culture is different. Yeah, I know a good amount of hebrew, but still...it's not the same :(

message 138: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (lettingtheinkdry) That would be kind of crazy. It would suck if you have to learn a whole other language and culture. I think it would be kind of scary. but thats just me

message 139: by Amy (new)

Amy (kelairyy) | 137 comments That would be kind of scary, but it would also be a cool experience. The culture would be different, but you could write about it. It could be interesting. As for language, maybe you could go to an international school or something? I know two people whose parents got transfered to China, and they both go to international schools.

message 140: by Catamorandi (new)

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) My friend's son was a missionary in China for four years. He learned the language eventually and met his future wife there. Now he is in Canada. There was a big problem about his wife getting a Visa from China to be with her husband in Canada, but it finally got worked out.

message 141: by Amy (new)

Amy (kelairyy) | 137 comments That's a cool story! :) I heard a story that was similar to that before at church.

message 142: by Carole (new)

Carole (cbusedtousethis) | 127 comments I think it would be neat to be a missionary.
