Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9483 comments A colleague who used to be in the book business sent around an email saying that Borders was in trouble and that anybody holding gift cards might want to spend 'em.

I googled and found a couple of articles confirming, here's one.

That's too bad...

I also hate to hear that Borders isn't as successful at turning around their business as they hoped to do.

Donnajo | 4353 comments I keep asking when I go to my borders but I haven't been in a week or two. For awhile I thought the way things looked that something was happening shelves were emptying and stuff. But the last few times there seems to be more stuff. The one by me is going to have a best buy next door opening I guess in the summer or beginning of summer and I said that will sure take away from cds and dvds at Borders but they seem to have alot of other stuff like toys and puzzles now that they didn't before. I would hate for this to happen. But it keeps going back to problems they have and they keep saying that they are working on them. I'll have to read the article. My cousin who is a teacher gets alot of gift certificates from kids in school. And I've told her in the past to use them if possible. I know she had alot of them. Hopefully she's using them up. Just got a email for the bookclub and they are saying it's going to be in the beginning of March.
