SOLVED!: Puppets, Marriage, and Tragedy [s]

Here is what I remember: It's a love story between two mismatched people. She is Gwen, a high-powered executive (lawyer?) who spends Sunday afternoon polishing her shoes. He is a puppeteer in a theater company. They have a passionate affair and then she gets pregnant and they get married, which kills the passion. It's about how quickly intense love can flame out and turn to hate. It ends in tragedy. I believe that both the main characters are Jewish. This was a good, if depressing, meditation on contemporary love and marriage, and I wish I could remember the title!
