Aaron S (withinthewell) | 1 comments ok, so let me start by saying i'm almost completely new to the genre, although it's probably my favorite along with any dark or urban fantasy. but i'd like some suggestions on what series or books to read. i've read interview with the vampire of course, also salem's lot, and the young adult series cirque du freak, but the protagonist in Cirque Du Freak was not favorite. I'd like a series that sympathizes more with vampires instead of making them look like evil creatures of the night(if that makes any sense) Let's say that so far I love Lestat from the Vampire Chronicles, so that should paint a picture of what I'm looking for in the novels. Thank you-aaron

Mariana (marydelioncourt) Aaron, you should continue reading the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice, there are 9 more books in the series, the one that follow Interview with the Vampire is "The Vampire Lestat", which is, in my opinion, the best of all. After that, "Queen of the Damned", "The Tale of the Body Thief", "Memnock", "The Vampire Armand", "Merrick", "Blood and Gold", "Blood Canticle", "Pandora". In all of them, you will see the story of the lives of the main vampires that have appeared in "Interview...", and Lestat is the protagonist of most of the books. Anyway, I'm sure that you will love each book as well as each character, particularly, after you read The Queen of the Damned, you will become more and more fascinated by these creatures. I hope I have helped. And sorry if there's any mistake in my english, I'm brazillian.
Mariana.

Jennifer (jen421) | 15 comments Lyndsay Sands' Ageneau vampires series is very fun and light hearted. I also recommend Lynn Viehl's Darkyn series, and the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward. Also, you have to read the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer!! It's the best!

Chris (chriswolak) Hi Aaron. There's Michael Romkey's series. I've only read the 1st one so far (I, Vampire) and really enjoyed it. There's good and bad vampires. His website is http://www.thevampire.com.

Mariana (marydelioncourt) The brazillian author Andre Vianco's vampires series is very, very good. It's my favourite after Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, he mixes the mithology of vampires and werewolves, and each of his vampires has a distinct power, like freezing things, waking up the dead, etc. Unfortunately, i don't know if the books were already translated to english, but when it does, don't miss it, it's an envolving and breath-taking reading.

Nicole | 3 comments There is also a little known series written by Aimee Thurlo. Its the Lee Nez series. This has THE most original vampire stuff and isn't filled with all the sex.
It's about a Navajo Indian who was attacked by a vampire, but made it to a medicine man who was able to partially cure him. He has partial vampire abilities and also can get out in the day. Since he's a police officer on the res. he runs accross shape-shifters as well as other vamps. They're really neat mysteries with a total vampire twist!

Chris (chriswolak) Hey Nicole--sounds like a neat series, I'm gonna check it out! Thanks.

Melkirdin | 5 comments Aaron, bro, if you haven't read Dracula by Bram Stoker then you're in some serious trouble.

Laura | 1 comments Nicole thanks for the tip, it sounds like a good book. What was the first book of the series?

message 10: by Chelsea (new)

Chelsea | 2 comments I don't know if you would like these but try them. There is the classic "Twilight" series. Then I just got finished reading this book called "Vampire Kisses" I loved all of them! I'm obsessed!

Dylan (dmfriend26) | 28 comments You'd love The Vampire Lestat, so good. Lestat is the protagonist and tells about his life before and after interview with the vampire.
