Colleen (nightoleander) | 676 comments Thanks Lyn, I have been i have just been working so much i haven't had time to update on GR. I have three more books in the meantime that I have read:

54.) The Ice Storm by Rick Moody <---- Loved the movie, it did the book justice. Loads of big names were in the movie and they were all brilliant so both are reccomended.
55.) Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay

November

56.) Dearly Devoted Dexter by Jeff Lindsay

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) Colleen, How were the Dexter books? I hear they are pretty good, but I tried to watch the show once and it was too much for me.

Colleen (nightoleander) | 676 comments I loooooove the show and the books are excellent! I want to read the next two but I am debating on getting the e-book versions or buying the books. One of the books has some pretty gruesome murder scenes so if the show was too much you might want to just read the first in the series then gauge your stomach from there...

I have the first book of Dexter but I don't access to that channel to watch the shows.

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) For some reason, I can read about gore better than watching it, so I think I will give the first one a try and see how it goes.

message 206: by Colleen (new)

Colleen (nightoleander) | 676 comments Donna, if you are interested in watching the show netflix has the first four seasons.

Lyn, I can see that. Makes sense between what hollywood gives your eyes and what you can imagine yourself. Give the first book a try then and let me know what you think when you do! :)

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) I am halfway done with book number 70 and 71 both. Maybe I can still make mine. I have a GN slated for 72 and should finish The Stand which would be 73. I just need to find 2 more quick and fast reads!

Colleen (nightoleander) | 676 comments December

61. The Constant Princess by Philippa Gregory

HATED this book!!!

message 228: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jennifertudor) | 145 comments I'd be up for that... I actually tried it this year but didn't complete it. I had a lot of letters that had 2 or more books and even counting my GN's I am missing I, Q, V, X, Y & Z :P

Are you going for 60 again?

And yeah... wasn't a big fan either!

message 230: by Colleen (new)

Colleen (nightoleander) | 676 comments I am not sure yet if I am going to go for a specific number, with the big upcoming move I may not.

message 231: by Colleen (new)

Colleen (nightoleander) | 676 comments 62. The Guy Not Taken: Stories by Jennifer Weiner <-- cute stories and a good fluff read

That's understandlable... it was hard enough for us this year!

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) I have that one, so I will probably read it eventually, but no one seems to like it much, at least no one that whose opinion I care about.

message 234: by Colleen (new)

Colleen (nightoleander) | 676 comments Jen, IKR?

Lyn, I would read it between two chunkster books or between two non-fic's. It is a good fluff read but not exactly her best work. The only problem I had with the book is that it is a collection of short stories which is fine but it seems like as soon as I was invested in the characters the story would end and I would have to start all over again with a new story and different people.

message 235: by Aly (new)

Aly (Alygator) | 204 comments I HATED the Constant Princess. As much as I disliked The Other Queen, it was still a better book than CP. I think im gunna try for 75 books next year. I need to catch up on GR posts lol.

message 236: by Colleen (new)

Colleen (nightoleander) | 676 comments I could tolerate TOQ but I really didn't like how the ending seemed so rushed and abrupt. I really really hated how she chose to do TCP though. I am not going to go for a number next year, just challenges.

message 237: by Colleen (new)

Colleen (nightoleander) | 676 comments 63. I Am Legend by Richard Matheson

Wen (thespoilingone) | 109 comments Colleen wrote: "63. I Am Legend by Richard Matheson"

Did you like that one? I read it and enjoyed it but my fav Richard Matheson books are What Dreams May Come and Bid Time Return (Somewhere in Time)

message 239: by Colleen (new)

Colleen (nightoleander) | 676 comments I did like it Wen! I listened to it while I drove back and forth to my bf's house out on the west side of the island. This was my first book by him, I want to get a hold of and read Hell House next; have you read it?

Yes I read Hell house and Earthbound as well as Stir of Echos. All are his and all were good but the What Dreams May Come and Bid Time Return.

Hey Colleen, what did you think of The Book Thief?
Its one of the most beautiful stories I've ever read!

message 242: by Colleen (new)

Colleen (nightoleander) | 676 comments Honestly I didn't really understand all the hype. I thought it was very well written but the story never really sucked me in like I had thought it would.
