Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) And it probably has some meaning to the person who had it tattooed. Just not my thing.

I am too but she got it huge enough to cover her whole upper arm... I just wasn't impressed with the book enough to go to that extreme.

Colleen (nightoleander) | 676 comments Ahhh Wen you simply must read The Alchemist! I haven't run into a person that has read it and not liked it. The author is truely gifted and I recommend also reading The Zahir, I loved it even more than TA.

I didn't know you read this one! How was it?

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) Wen - ditto what Colleen said about Paulo Coelho and The Alchemist and The Zahir!

Jennifer (jennifertudor) | 145 comments I second... or third lol... the opinion on The Alchemist and will be reading The Zahir soon too :)

OK will have to give him a whirl then. I had seen The Zahir on Donnas posts and was going to ask if she liked his books too but seems I will most likely get the same answer. Time to pick up one of his books!!

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) Did you guys know that The Alchemist has been on the New York Times bestseller list for 140 weeks! That is almost 3 years. Popular guy.

message 162: by Aly (new)

Aly (Alygator) | 204 comments Colleen how was the Chelsea Handler book??? i've wanted to read that one for a bit. I heard it was hilarious!

message 163: by Colleen (new)

Colleen (nightoleander) | 676 comments The Chelsea Handler book was hilarious, I also read My Horizontal Life: A Collection of One-Night Stands and want to read Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang. I recommend her books because they are all quick reads and I literally LOL'ed at them. I love books that make me laugh like that!

42. The Confessions of Catherine de Medici by C.W. Gortner

I read both Chelsea books too and don't have any plans to read her newest one. I thought it was OK. I mean there were funny parts but I didn't really care for it so much.

Not suprised!

Donna, I think you just have to like her stand-up and/or her show in order to like her books.

46. A Reliable Wife by Robert Goolrick

It got mixed reviews because there is a lot of sex in the book. Good book, I wasn't offended by the so called "raunchy" scenes.

I got 2 copies now of this one. I will get to it eventually

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) I have that one, too, Colleen, but haven't gotten to it yet.

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) On a Lisa See kick are we??

message 181: by Colleen (new)

Colleen (nightoleander) | 676 comments I loved the first two books so I just had to read the third one I got at the used book store. :)

message 182: by Colleen (new)

Colleen (nightoleander) | 676 comments 48. The Other Queen by Philippa Gregory

Not her best book, I hated the ending because it seemed not thought out at all and very rushed. Bess was highly annoying.

Jennifer (jennifertudor) | 145 comments Colleen wrote: "45. Shanghai Girls by Lisa See

Do you think this was set up for a sequel? Seemed so open-ended but in a way, that was good for me. In another way, it kept me wanting more.

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) I know, I agree with Jennifer. The open ending seemed appropriate to the story, but I am not surprised to hear there is going to be a sequel. I would be interested to know if she planned the sequel all along or not.

message 185: by Aly (new)

Aly (Alygator) | 204 comments I'm finally going to tackle The Other Queen. I bought it ages ago! Colleen, I've heard the general consensus on it and it matches yours. Doesn't make me wanna read it any faster LOL

OMG I am sooooo behind!!!!!

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) Collen and Jen - Where have you been??

I am loving TBB by the way. It is going really well, although I am interrupting it to read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo with a pen pal from another group.

message 194: by Aly (new)

Aly (Alygator) | 204 comments I have to get my hands on TBB and read it LOL. I have been neglecting my GR reads for school books. Sadly. Because most of the books I've had to read for school are sooooo dry.
