Sarah was right in that the winner is Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris.

Have fun...

O.K....so David Sedaris and The Count. Interesting combo. I'll bet if we try hard enough we can find some similarities. :)

Courtney Stirrat | 201 comments Yay! Sedaris! (Although I have read this before, so will have to find a copy and brush up!).

But seriously, can we read The Thin Man this summer? I am craving a Nick and Nora fest!

Arctic | 571 comments nice. I've had this book sitting on my shelf waiting to be read for entirely too long already.

Courtney, I just finished reading The Thin Man. It SOOO rocks! I'm like enamoured of that book! I was going to write a review because I was like on a high after reading it, but didn't get online for ages, and by then I'd read another book or two. Ugh. That just happened with Ella Minnow Pea, too. Adored it, but have been without internet access for days and days and have since re-read Fahrenheit 451 and begun another book!! (Should do for F451, too, but I don't think I could do it justice. I just can't begin to explain how highly I think of that book!) What's a girl to do, I ask you??

message 6: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Stirrat | 201 comments Michele, I totally understand and consistently have that problem. But yesterday, I just sat down for hours with F451 and looked through my notes and posted. Maybe it's the incredibleness of the book, but for once my enjoyment of the book and my inspiration to post coincided. I also had a lot of coffee! So sit down with some coffee and the book and tell us what you think (pot calling kettle black -- still need to do that for Dorian).

And I LOVE Nick and Nora (*thanks to my P for turning me on to them*) and Dashell Hammett so I really need to read it soon!

And I need to go to Barnes & Noble or other bookstore! For the Count, Ella, a new Sedaris, and more. Hmmmm . . . maybe we can take P's Mom there for books today (she is an avid reader and BRILLIANT English teacher), thus making everyone happy!

Meghan Isn't it grand when life just works out like that? What better way to celebrate moms by going to the bookstore!

message 8: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (speirmint) | 3 comments Aw, Im a little disappointed that the first book i'm reading with you guys is one i've already read, but I guess I can read it again, I don't remember if I liked it or not anyway.

message 9: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) Amanda, have you read The Count of Monte Cristo? That's our summer-long read.
