I've got two books going right now. I'm reading "Schism" by Catharine Asaro and I'm reading "Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister" by Gregory McGuire.I've been reading about 6-8 books a month. I never used to read that many, but I have an injury that keeps me from doing any intense cardio exercise. I get to ride the recumbent bike with very little resistance. It's amazing how much you can read in an hour on that thing.
Club books:Ella Minnow Pea by Mark Dunn
Then We Came To The End by Joshua Ferris
Uglies by Scott Westerfield
Finishing up:
Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert
Foucault's Pendulum by Umberto Eco (the book that will not end)
Liberal Fascism by Jonah Goldberg
A Thatched Roof by Beverly Nichols: 2nd in a seriesA Wizard of Earthsea Trying to catch up :)
And, a short story here and there from The Omnibus of Crime
I'm finishing up Diamond Age. This one seems to be taking forever - I've been spending far too much time lurking here!Meghan - did you like Foucalt's Pendulum? I've been interested in reading that.
Since I'm new to GoodReads I haven't started reading any of the bookgroup books. I'll probably start in June. Currently I'm rereading the Sword of Truth series. I just started Naked Empire, which is the last one I read before. The next three books in the series will be first time reads. I was saving them until I had several volumes to read at once.
hhmmm... lemme scan my desk here... Shadows Linger - Glen Cook
The Born Queen - Greg Keyes
Y: The Last Man - Brian Vaughan
The Elric Saga: Part 1 - Michael Moorcock
A Sword from Red Ice - J.V. Jones
So far... :D
I'm currently reading Virgin Earth by Philippa Gregory, and then I'm on to The Past Through Tomorrow by Heinlein. I've only read The Moon is a Harsh Mistress by him, and I'm looking forward to this collection of short stories.
I've just finished Bright of the Sky by Kay Kenyon and really enjoyed it ... the ending (for a proposed series of books) felt, to me, a little rushed but it was all very well realised and not boring. How does one get a discussion going about a book that might be worth discussing?:)
MikeI read that book and have been trying to fit in time to read the second book. I thought the book was very good also
World Too Near, huh - I didn't even expect it to be out yet. Thanks, Jeffrey. Maybe the 'ongoing' series should be a future discussion thread?
Mike,
If you want to discuss a book right away, enter the Member's Chat folder and click New Topic (just above the top of the list of topics.) If you want to wait for a bigger discussion group, add it to Nick Queen's list of books nominated for future months.

Brandon, Shadows Linger is a great one. The Black Company stories are some of my favorites, especially the first three books.Kristen, The Past Through Tomorrow is a must read when reading Heinlein. I envy you your first time through.
I just finished Talon of the Silverhawk, which was a very quick read for me. Raymond Feist can spin a good yarn and Midkemia is one of my favorite worlds in fantasy literature.
Right now, I am reading Emma and Northanger Abbey. Both are by Jane Austen. They are both part of my book challenge.
I feel like I have so much to read this month! So far I have read 1602, Ender's Game, the Giver.I am hoping to still read Uglies, Undead and Unwed,Ella Minnow Pea, and Two for the Dough. Oh and From Dead to Worse! How do I make titles hyperlinks?
Finally finished Diamond Age, and now I'm into Matter, the new one by Iain Banks. BUT the last book in the series by Katharine Kerr just arrived, and I'm dying to read it. But must finish Matter first cause it's a libes book.I can only read one book at a time.
I'm listening to The Ancestor's Tale by Richard Dawkins and reading River of Gods by Ian McDonald. I also just completed Glasshouse and Halting State by Charles Stross (both were decent but not great).I'm not sure what I'll read next.
I just finished River Secrets by Shannon Hale, and started Great Expectations by Dickens, so far I am enjoying it.
So far, I've read:Schism by Catherine Asaro
Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister by Gregory McGuire
Seed to Harvest by Octavia Butler
Blind Lake by Robert Charles Wilson
I'm currently reading "Declare" by Tim Powers and the 24th annual edition of "The Year's Best Science Fiction" edited by Gardner Dozois. (I hope I got that right.)
I'm eager to hear what you think of Declare. I love Tim Powers, but had a hard time getting into that one. I'm wondering whether it was the book, or the fact that I was traveling in Barcelona at the time. I suspect the latter.
Declare is probably one of the most difficult books I've ever read. I'm working on a review and I'll post it when I'm done reading it.
I'm just finishing the third book form Naomi Novik - Black Powder War, in my opinion it's better than the second one, but I need more, sometimes it's quite boring and I have to struggle to continue reading.
I've just started to read The Book of Joby - Mark J. Ferrari, so far is quite nice, I have some issuees about christianity in book, but for now i'm trying to ignore that.
Ben, Does The Ancestor's Tale measure up?
Thomas, I enjoyed it quite a bit. It was my introduction to Dawkins and I'll likely be reading more by him. The audio book was well done, with Dawkins and his wife narrating. As someone who doesn't normally read (or listen) to science books, it served as a good refresher to a lot of what I learned in high school and college.
