Jennifer (bookcrazyjenn) | 2 comments Just curious to see what other's are reading most.

I generally stick to YA books - for the most part

Roseann | 212 comments The seasonal challenges I have been involved in have broadened my genres. I used to read mainly SF and Horror, with a little Mytery mixed in. I also read some NF if a title catches my eye. Now I, like you, have become hooked on YA books. I wish they had been around when I was younger!

Jennifer (jnhart) I read a lot of paranormal romance and urban fantasy: Patricia Briggs, Richelle Mead, Laurell K Hamilton, and Jim Butcher are just a few of my favorites.

Badly Drawn Girl (badlydrawngirl) | 142 comments I read more than one book at a time so I can switch as my mood changes. Here's what I'm usually reading:

A memoir

Something educational about history, or things going on in the world that I want to learn more about.

Something lighter, fiction, when I don't want to think too much.

Whatever book my book club is reading

And usually a classic novel, something that I should have read in school... or a book that is considered a must read.

That's usually the way it goes. As I got older, I switched from reading mainly fiction to reading mainly non-fiction. I used to tease my dad for reading all non-fiction because I thought it was boring. But it's not at all, as I soon learned. I do occasionally read YA fiction as well. I'm pretty open. The only thing I don't read is so called beach reads, or mass trade paperbacks for the most part. I try to stick to award winning or critically acclaimed books.

Lisa I tend to read an awful lot of books that have anything remotely to do with vampires, along with other fantasy type things.

I've broadened my horizons a little this year by searching out some that have appeared on various 'books you must read before you die' lists and so more classics have now started appearing on my shelves. For the most part, I've been very glad to have branched out (only on a couple of occasions have I nearly had an aneurysm trying to struggle valiantly through 'great' works)

Alyssa (hawkstar) | 18 comments I read a lot of YA books as well, but I'm trying to expand into a wide variety of genres and reading levels.

stormhawk | 385 comments Science Fiction, Fantasy, Politics, Thriller, Biography, True Crime, Mystery, Spy, Just Plain Novels, Quirky-ness, Humor, History, Hairy-Chested Men's Adventure Novels with titles starting with "The" and an action-sounding word (The Survivalist, The Destroyer, The That sort of thing) well, pretty much anything really. But not a whole lot of Romances.

Danielle (readsbydanig) | 31 comments Anything to do with supernatural, novels, historical fiction, and pretty much anything that i seem interesting!! I'm up for anything!!

message 9: by Dalene (new)

Dalene I read just about anything. I recently started reading Urban Fantasy and Paranomal Romance. I enjoy general fiction, young adult which I haven't read much lately and hope to get back to, historical romance, mystery, romantic suspense. I do let my mood choose my books.

message 10: by Cheralaine (new)

Cheralaine Cole-Johnson I read mostly young adult fiction but not exclusively. I work in a clinic that serves adolescent and young adult patients so I have an excuse to indulge my interest. I use books as rewards for keeping appointments and love to direct them to well written books. I also invite them to join Good Reads.

I do read adult fiction as well in nearly any genre as long as it is well written. The only thing I have given up on is non-fiction. No matter how interested I may be in a subject I will get two-thirds through a book and leave it unfinished.

I read mostly Paranormal YA books. But, I enjoy anything (except gay books, all those overly romancie books, westerns, poetry, and most Amish books).

message 12: by Genia (new)

Genia Lukin I read most everything. I mean it. I am a horribly eclectic reader. I read sci-fi, fantasy, some romance (very little, admittedly, and mostly of the Austen calibre), non-fiction by plenty, classics, contemporary, historical, mystery and detective (I've been on a spurt of these this year), philosophy, science, humour... In fact, come to think of it, it's much easier to list the things I do not read.

I also do my reading in several languages, so, really, I haven't a system or much of a preference. I don't read self-help and empowerment books; I don't read much horror, romance, action or thriller, though I will make an exception for a very well written one. I've lost much of my adolescent taste for epic fantasy. I only read young adult fiction as an occasional indulgence.

message 13: by Ivy (new)

Ivy (luvbug) I read mostly mysteries. I have though in the last year or two been expanding my horizons and have tried fantasy, paranormal, and some science fiction. I do not like romance or westerns at all ...just can not get the feel for them. I have read some YA books and some vampire books...still haven't decided if I like the vampire books and some of the YA books I have read are not to my liking but for the most part seem to be fairly good.
