    Dot's Booklist for 2010

#2 for May, 51 ytd. Just finished on audio. I've read and enjoyed many books by this author but found this one disappointing. It is the story of a family beginning just before WW2 to present day but I felt the story either moved sluggishly or jumped generations too abruptly.Consequences by Penelope Lively

#3 for May, 52 ytd. Troubles by JG Farrell. Wonderful book set in a crumbling hotel in a small town south of Dublin, just after the First World War. The author has you laughing and crying in the same paragraph. Extremely subtle wit but a tragic story.

#5 for May, 54 ytdCemetery of Secrets by David Hewson....this book is set partly in contemporary Venice and partly in the time of Vivaldi when events similar to the story in present day occur. The plot involves a piece of music and musicians who fall into a trap set by an unsavoury character.

 #6 for June, 65 ytd
#6 for June, 65 ytdUntil I Find You by John Irving on CD (28 discs) I gave up on this after 8 discs. The beginning was very entertaining but after that I lost interest. The author tends to discuss sexual episodes in such great detail that it becomes boring. The fact that a young child is involved did not endear the book to me....it's definitely not 'Lolita'. :-(
