Stephanie (chasmofbooks) | 2875 comments It's nice to know I was missed! Haha. I'll be graduating with a High School diploma.

M | 11617 comments Hi, Stephanie! Congratulations in advance. What’s your NaNo novel going to be about this year?

message 1053: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) | 2875 comments Thanks, M and Alex.

I don't have a title for it yet, but it's going to be about this guy who is hunting a girl who can, if you will, petrify people. It's going to be in both the guy's and the girl's perspectives though. So they're both MCs. But I'm going to finally do something that I've been wanting to do for a while: kill a main character. Muhahahaha.

M | 11617 comments Good morning, Alex! It had clouded over and the wind was blowing, and I had hoped a cool front was moving in, but it’s still warm and muggy outside.

Killing main characters is fun, but hard. They hate me when I do it, and give me writers block so I can't kill them XP

OH AND GUESS WHAT GUYS?!

message 1056: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) | 2875 comments Lol. What, Kat?

message 1057: by Caitlan (new)

Kymela (kymelatejasi) | 674 comments Congratulations, Kat.

I don't think I could ever kill off one of my main characters, not even Ludivine...

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) | 2875 comments Awesome, Kat!!! Where is it being published?

message 1062: by Caitlan (new)

Caitlan (lionesserampant) | 2869 comments In The Paper Tree. It's an online journal. They're still looking for submissions if you guys want to try http://the-paper-tree.co.uk/index.php

message 1066: by Kymela (new)

Kymela (kymelatejasi) | 674 comments All this research lately has gotten me interested in writing some non-fiction books. Anyone want to read my film analysis essay on Kingdom of Heaven when I'm done?

message 1067: by Ajay (new)

Ajay (ajay_n) | 1138 comments Of course, Saira. Do share it here, would be happy to read it.

message 1068: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Congratulations, Kat!

Saira, even if I wasn't busy right now, I haven't seen the movie so I'm not sure if my reading it would be of much value.

Kymela (kymelatejasi) | 674 comments Posted in my writing thread. I forgot a part in Sibylla's paragraph, but I kinda got the the point where I'm like, whatever. XP

message 1073: by Ajay (new)

Ajay (ajay_n) | 1138 comments Thank you, Alex! Hope you are feeling better. I'm fit as a fiddle! Good night!

message 1074: by Ajay (new)

Ajay (ajay_n) | 1138 comments That's too bad, Alex. If I were you, I would probably take the entire week off. I'm sure the stats professor would understand. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Take care.

message 1075: by Ajay (last edited Oct 15, 2012 01:11PM) (new)

Ajay (ajay_n) | 1138 comments Gosh, that is some stringent attendance schedule, to follow. Just 3 days per semester!? Good to know that the pleurisy has subsided though. One less thing to worry about. Yup, school is almost-always taxing. It was for me too.

message 1076: by Ajay (new)

Ajay (ajay_n) | 1138 comments Gosh, I have no idea how my typos I've made today! Third one I guess, two at work and one here :(

message 1077: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Attendance wasn’t usually a problem for me in college. I didn’t do much of the reading, so my grades depended on the notes I took in class.

message 1078: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Funny, my note taking was poor, and I always did the reading. Always. Sometimes more than what was required.

Back to writing, though!

message 1079: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments I don't read as much as I used to.

Tease! LoL!

Enjoy your supper and have fun writing your mid-terms. Exams? Or papers? I don't think I've heard of exams being done at home.

I'm calligraphing certificates of completions for tomorrow night's students. Crude, but better than nothing. Well, then again, maybe not! LoL.

message 1080: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments I think better would be if you were to eat something first.

Now it is time for me to get supper organized.

message 1081: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments I did. Back to my course work. I hope and expect that your exams are going well. No pressure!

message 1082: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Good night! Sleep well, and dream a funny dream, one that has the power to wake you up laughing!

message 1083: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Funny, your popcorn was about becoming a mummy, so to speak! (Okay, okay, very bad pun.)

Night.

message 1084: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Rolling on the floor! Sorry about the head.

message 1085: by Ajay (new)

Ajay (ajay_n) | 1138 comments Alex (Al) wrote: "Don't frown, Ajay! Show off that cute smile!"

Haha. I did, Alex! Thank god no one was around to witness that. Lol.

message 1086: by Ajay (new)

Ajay (ajay_n) | 1138 comments And forgot to add, all the very best for your exams and essays!

message 1087: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments And don’t forget, you can order essays and research papers online!

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) | 2875 comments Alex (Al) wrote: "Calligraphing? I don't know anyone but you who still does that.

No dinner tonight for me. Yes, they're exams and essays. I've never had a take home midterm before. Very strange.

Open book then?

message 1089: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Someday notebook computers will come with a Windows program that has everything you need to get through school--pre-written essays and research papers, all the answers you need to do well on exams in math and history and science.

message 1090: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments You just had to post that, didn’t you?

message 1091: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) | 2875 comments One of my favorites is google translator.

message 1092: by Kymela (new)

Kymela (kymelatejasi) | 674 comments Yes, I use google translate a lot.

message 1093: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments How does anyone learn a foreign language these days if all a student has to do is use an online translator?

message 1094: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments I guess if the student gets a few wrong on his homework, he can’t very well tell the teacher it’s Google’s fault.

message 1095: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Alex, for shame!

message 1096: by Kymela (new)

Kymela (kymelatejasi) | 674 comments Google translate is actually pretty accurate. Probably the most accurate online translator there is. And if you really work at it, it can teach you. ;)

message 1097: by Caitlan (new)

Caitlan (lionesserampant) | 2869 comments Guy, I didn't know you did calligraphy! I've always wanted to do that! It's so beautiful, and lovely and graceful! Where did you learn? What tools do you use?

message 1098: by Guy (last edited Oct 17, 2012 01:29PM) (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments I've let my skills slide the last few years, as I've spent much more time reading and writing than when I was doing calligraphy seriously.

Tools: I've used both Indian ink and Chinese (brush) calligraphy ink (has a great smell!), as well as red Japanese brush calligraphy ink. For the pens, I used to use 'proper' steel nibs of various widths, and have also used my own home made goose and crow quill pens.

Sigh! Now that I am barely doing it, I mostly used Sharpie and Staedtler calligraphy felt pens. To my surprise, they are both very good, with the Sharpie being slightly better because the felt part is a little harder. These pens are great to begin on, but for the really fine flourishes they don't cut the muster. If you want to give it a try, just get a good book, and go for it. It is fun, and I use it for birthday cards, anniversary, etc.

Caitlan (lionesserampant) | 2869 comments Do you have any suggestions for books? Like, any favorites?

message 1100: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments I do. I've forgotten the title, however, and it is very old. I'll check when I get home and pass them on.
