C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4483 comments That's ridiculous Nate. I am sorry you are going through that. Yes, it is kind of a Catch-22 that posting stories you want others to see can easily be stolen. It's unfortunate and people in other writing groups on GR have gone through it too.

And as Tamara said, I hope your problems are starting to work out for you. :)

message 2655: by Nate (new)

Nate | 166 comments I wish there was a way to be able to encrypt your writing with a html code so that it can not be highlighted, copied and pasted. It would make it a bit harder for ppl to steal it then.

Thanks for the support guys.

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10136 comments I don’t really have any plans in the near future to have children. Heavy responsibility aside, I don’t want to pass my autistic and schizophrenic genes onto my kids and make them go through what I went through. Having said that, I spent a good majority of tonight coming up with ideas for baby names, both male and female. I completed all of my creative tasks for the day and I was bored as hell, so that’s how these lists came about. As you can see, it’s obvious where the inspiration for some of these names came from.

MALE:

1. Aidan Charles
2. Austin Caleb
3. Billy Simon
4. Bobby Mathew
5. Bray Lucas
6. Clay Terry
7. Connor Evan

25. Scott Kevin
26. Seamus Eliot
27. Sebastian Peter
28. Shaun Morgan
29. Sonny Joe
30. Thomas Barrett
31. Victor Murphy
32. Wyatt Henry

FEMALE:

1. Annette Kelly
2. Ashley Marie
3. Autumn Shona

And Victor is a good name too. But maybe I'm just biased because I know someone with that name as well.

And such a huge diversity to the female names. Cool!

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10136 comments If you ever walk into my bedroom and hear me listening to sad-ass music, don’t be alarmed. This kind of music is what inspires me to write poetry and heavy metal songs since they’re usually dark and dour in nature. I already have two books of poetry published called “Confessions of a Schizophrenic Savage” and “Necrograph”. A third one, called “Prophecy”, will be published as soon as I can cram a hundred poems into a single volume. If you want to know what my poetry-inspiring playlist looks like, here it is. Feel free to look up any or all of these songs on You Tube.

But anyway in all seriousness, I am sorry for not being as active as I want on here. I will try my best this week to be here more often than lately. Hope to chat more often with you guys.

message 2681: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments That's kind of you to express, C.J. I feel a bit like a wraith around here, perhaps the ghost of some distant past pirate ship, reduced to rattling my insubstantive bones like a confused medicine man in a first year anatomy class.

message 2682: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10136 comments That would make for an interesting short story entry: a pirate ship haunted by ghosts and wraiths. I'd do it, but I already entered that territory with a short story called "Madhouse", though it didn't take place on a ship and the ghosts and wraiths were all acid flashbacks.

My life is in transition and in the process of separating after 37+ years. All fascinating, filled with fushigis I'd love to write about, and without the time to write them. LoL! C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4483 comments Hey Guy if you ever get to read this here's an update on Goodreads new re-read feature.

They seem to have improved it! While I had trouble posting that I was in the middle of re-reading a book recently it was mostly my fault and the instructions are not too hard.

If you ever say that you started re-reading something first and mostly change that book's status from "read" to "currently reading" (I didn't do that, was my first mistake when I did this recently, lol!).

Then it will say when you want to edit it for whatever reason will say in a special section "re-reading?" and that is your go-to spot to either put in the date you actually started re-reading and et cetera.

Hope that helps if you want to use that feature sometime.

message 2692: by Angie (new)

Angie Pangan | 4795 comments Not sure if anyone would be interested in this, but there's a show on the History Channel called "Forged in Fire". It's basically a competition show where blacksmiths are challenged to create custom blades and weapons. Each episode features an obscure ancient weapon that contestants have to recreate and gives the history and usage of said weapon. If anyone is interested in learning more about weaponry, how weapons are forged, their unique features and what those features do, along with uses for each type of weapon, I'd recommend watching this show.

It's great for anyone looking to step away from the generic broadswords and rapiers of traditional fantasy. It's also nice to see all the things that can go wrong with a weapon, since that's something that rarely happens in novels outside of them shattering from brute force.

Hope this is helpful to someone. Happy writing!
