C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4483 comments I am going to start but not finish in Creative Writing section a fan-fic original story about Link and Zelda. This has been in far reaches of my brain for a while.

I could provide a link if anyone is interested.

Kymela (kymelatejasi) | 674 comments Not a big fan of fan-fic. I finally finished a song I was working on and have gotten around to my NaNo novel. I might finish it, but I'm thinking it's only a test run. I highly doubt I would ever want this thing published...

Kymela (kymelatejasi) | 674 comments I just realised: I'm still not really sure how different types of magic work in my story. D:

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4483 comments I just recently put in my must read (!) shelf a book that has controversial themes. I thought it was fairly brand new but the article I saw it referenced was about two years old... and it itself was published in 2008!

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10136 comments What's the title of this book, CJ, and who wrote it? You've got my attention.

While we're waiting for CJ's response, I want to share something with everyone here that I posted on Face Book moments ago. I should warn you that there is one S-bomb, but other than that, it's squeaky clean. Enjoy!

I had a weird dream last night that could serve as creative fuel for a D&D campaign. A half-orc lost to a human in a wrestling match with a hair vs. hair stipulation (the loser gets his head shaved). The half-orc gets his obligatory buzz cut and goes on a murderous rampage as a result of people making fun of him for being “ugly”. The king wants the half-orc captured before he can kill anybody else in his barbaric rage. I just have one question to my subconscious: why in the hell would a half-orc give two shits about his own appearance? Other than that, great campaign idea!

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4483 comments It's called "The Swatstika Against the Cross" by Bruce Walker. The article was trying to relate this book to what was going on in America with the government today. But the book was about how Nazis were against Christians as well. It apparently contains records of people speaking against the belief while working for Hitler during his reign in power. Says something to that effect in the blurb on this site.

Ryan | 5334 comments Heya, Pirates. I just wanted to drop by and apologise for my lack of feedback on your poems and stories this month. I'm reading and enjoying but NaNoWriMo is eating up all my free writing time. Nearly there, I'll be back into it after November. Happy writing :)

message 2259: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10136 comments I've definitely missed hearing your wonderful feedback, Ryan, as well as reading your stories. Happy writing to you as well. I hope you pump out something awesome. :)

message 2260: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments CJ, 2008 is new. Only 6 years old. And I would be curious as to what kind of references it uses and how old they are.

Good work Ryan!

Garrison, the Orc is half human. Human ego got bruised at being a half Orc losing to a human, and the teasing about it chafed his embarrassment at the loss. ;-) Lol!

message 2261: by C. J., Cool yet firm like ice (new)

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4483 comments Yep, Guy. But usually if a new article is plugging a book I figure that it usually was published the current year or at the longest the year before. It was just a small shock. Am used to reading current articles from magazines over stuff on the internet because time has no limit on here!

And hope it is a fun experience Ryan. Write up a storm!

message 2262: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10136 comments Good point, Guy. Very good point, as usual. :)

message 2263: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Yes CJ. The red herring of expectations. Dropping our pre - conceived expectations, even when based on experience, is both a challenge and important. Happy reading, regardless. :-)

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4483 comments Hehe.

Just also wanted to let everyone know I'm going to my nephew's birthday party. I haven't seen my oldest bro in a while so it's great to go out to see them and their family again!

It's kind of a far ride so I am hoping for happy and safe travels.

It was awesome! Was so glad to see my oldest bro who lives fairly far "out there" and my poor dad on little sleep had to go through a few highways just to see everyone. It was wonderful. Also was great talking to people I saw last year but didn't get much of a chance so now I've gotten closer to people I only saw in little snatches here and there. Was a great time for everyone including my little nephew, who is awesome!

Kymela (kymelatejasi) | 674 comments For once it didn't say it couldn't find the comment...

I'm surprised at how well my two songs are being received on writing.com. I used to hate poetry due to stupid teachers trying to make us write it before helping learn to appreciate it first. So glad I took Tom Williams' class at our local college. Still surprised that they're getting such high ratings...

message 2270: by C. J., Cool yet firm like ice (new)

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4483 comments I'd say kudos, Saira! And yes, teachers are critical to gaining anything valuable (or sometimes worthless) info for knowledge. Sometimes their attitude whether good or bad determines success in the student as well.

Also great that you've gotten a following on your writings.

message 2271: by Kymela (new)

Kymela (kymelatejasi) | 674 comments I had another teacher help me with poetry as well, but unfortunately, she didn't read any of her own to us, so she didn't help as much. I still miss her class, though. And his. Tom Williams is a big geek and he showed it in his teaching. I wish he taught more classes I could take...

I was surprised to learn I had two fans. o.O I almost never get any feedback here so it was a pretty awesome feeling.

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4483 comments I'm blown away when I get any attention on my blog! It seemed when I was about ten entries in there was a tumbleweed grazing across the posts and then there was one entry (I forget which one it was) where I had sub after sub. People out of the blue started following it which was surprising because I never really think much I say is all that interesting but people wanted to find out more!

message 2273: by Kymela (new)

Kymela (kymelatejasi) | 674 comments I'm debating publishing my songs to my blog just yet. I think I want to finish editing them first. I have a friend who can help me figure out the beat and another who can actually professionally record it.

message 2274: by C. J., Cool yet firm like ice (new)

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4483 comments It's better off to hold back on that, I agree. And plus wants it gets released to an online part of the cloud world who knows who will try and use it for their credit or something! I only have a few songs with my bros on Youtube but there is a reason I am holding back others.

One reason is to me the songs written by me don't "feel right" or need more polish because they're not sounding out loud the way they are in my head.

message 2275: by Kymela (new)

Kymela (kymelatejasi) | 674 comments I thought that would be best, thanks for reinforcing that thought. Only three other people outside of that site have read and reviewed one of them and that's because I asked them first. I just wish December would get here faster so the lyricist can help me. She's really good. She wrote another verse to "You Are My Sunshine" and can sing the whole thing in a minor key that sounds really good even though it's all wrong for the song. Still sounds good, just not a key you would think would be good for that particular song.

It's been a long time since I've been able to talk to anyone here. :D

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4483 comments Cool. :)

Hey speaking of originals, I wonder if you and/or Nicky would be interested in links from old vids made on Youtube of me and my bros' band. Would you like to see the links?

message 2277: by Kymela (new)

Kymela (kymelatejasi) | 674 comments Sure. It might take me a while to get back to you, though. I've been having trouble focusing on anything lately.

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4483 comments Okay. The only reason the "drummer" is holding pencils is because we could not find my sticks.

One song on here is good but another I am disappointed was taken off by my youngest bro (he is the keyboard player and this is his channel just to warn watchers. I don't agree with everything he posts on here).

Here goes...

Beyond the Sun: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKvcmw...

Edit: Am listening to it again. The recording we did in a studio is ten times better. It sounds so primitive here, but that's my nit-picking, haha!

April Freeman Hey, random question, but does anyone have a favorite place where you like to write? I have a couple, but right now my favorite place is sitting in on a hay bale with my horses munching next to me:)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10136 comments From Sunday December 7th to Thursday December 11th, me, my mom, and my step-dad Dale are going to San Diego, California for vacation. The main places we’re going to go to are Lego Land and the San Diego Zoo. In other words, I’m going to age backwards and play with Legos and wild animals all in five days. California in general is a beautiful state. The sun will be shining (even in December), the Generation Y eye candy will be out in full force, the food will be delicious, and most importantly (in case I haven’t mentioned it already), Lego Land and the Zoo will be awesome experiences. I’ve already mentioned in my Happy Thanksgiving post that this future vacation was something I’m thankful for. A wise man once said being grateful attracts more things to be grateful for. I’m a believer!

But just like with any vacation, it means my time on the internet will be limited since all I’ll have is my laptop and I won’t be using it as often as I use my desktop at home. For Deviant Art, it means I won’t answer messages, post Garrison’s Library entries, or write chapters of Watch You Burn. For Good Reads, particularly the WSS Contest and Company group, it means I won’t participate in the December 7th contest (but I’ll be more than available for the following week’s festivities). For Face Book, it means I won’t be around to share pictures of kittens, Dungeons & Dragons memes, or videos of songs I like (what a pity). And finally, for my wonderful new friend and beta reader Jordan Triplett, it means I won’t be able to edit chapters of Occupy Wrestling nor send any to be edited.

Fear not, because just like with any other vacation I take with my family, I will return. And when I do, my bed will feel softer, my animals will be antsy, and I’ll get back into my creative groove. Again, the days I will be gone are from December 7th to December 11th. I’ll put on my Captain Obvious outfit and say I will be home for the holidays. We’ve got ears, say cheers!

message 2295: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments Sounds like a magic holiday, Garrison. I'm very jealous. Enjoy!

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10136 comments Will do, Ryan! :)

message 2297: by Edward (new)

Edward (edwardtheresejr) | 2434 comments I remember Legoland. The first roller coaster I ever rode was there. It's a cool place.

Well, California will always be warm, even in December, but not necessarily sunny. Don't be surprised to see a lot of overcast (though it is unlikely that it will rain, which is great for vacation, but sucks if you live there).

Enjoy your vacation, Garrison.
