Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Re: the disappearance of Belly Peterson.
Belly has in a PM told me that he is alive and well, and that for personal reasons it was he who expunged that persona from the WSS, Goodreads and the web.

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments And a very belated happy birthday CJ.

message 1911: by [deleted user] (new)

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4483 comments Thank you Guy for the birthday mention.

And yes we all miss Belly in general. I regret I never got to comment on his blog which I felt had awesome haiku on there as well as on this site.

message 1918: by Edward (new)

Edward (edwardtheresejr) | 2434 comments Krispy Kreme will give you a free doughnut if you come in talking like a pirate. We're all pirates here, so our usual mannerisms should suffice (not really).

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4483 comments I kind of don't get this "recommendations" of books on the home page now. Because I have listed the Bible it thinks because of that I will be interested in a book about the Beatles. :P

Hey all you guys! So I found this free writing course online and it looks really cool!

It's called the Future of Storytelling, and I think it'll be a great resource. Ya'll should sign up. 'Cause you know. It's free.

Here's the link: https://iversity.org/c/6?r=fd689

Plus, you guys signing up will help me become an ambassador. So there's that, haha.

I'm going to be posting this in a few other groups. Sorry for the repeats, but it's an awesome resource and everyone should know about it.

message 1927: by [deleted user] (new)

Wow, Kat, thank you for sharing! I'm going to sign up in a while :)

message 1928: by Christa VG (new)

Christa VG (christa-ronpaul2012) Kat that looks really cool. Thanks!

Christa VG (christa-ronpaul2012) Did the Captain get mad and fire all her commanding officers? She is the only mod left :D

Kyra (Nikara) | 1221 comments XD I bet it was the mice again.

message 1931: by Jocelyn (new)

Jocelyn (joc113) It's always the mice...

message 1932: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10136 comments I want to feed the mice pieces of cheese! ^_^

message 1933: by [deleted user] (new)

Just a sort of warning guys, the mice plan their revenge seriously. If you can't beat them, might as well join them :D

message 1934: by Kyra (new)

Kyra (Nikara) | 1221 comments Oh, not these mice. You'll just encourage them, and frankly, that's the last thing we need. :) JK

Kyra (Nikara) | 1221 comments Leslie wrote: "Just a sort of warning guys, the mice plan their revenge seriously. If you can't beat them, might as well join them :D"

Hmm... Leslie's got a point. I don't think anyone on this ship has ever beat the mice, and Sara's definitely tried.

message 1936: by Kyra (new)

Kyra (Nikara) | 1221 comments Does anyone else here find it amusing that our crew is constantly being outsmarted by rodents conjured from M's imagination?

message 1937: by [deleted user] (new)

Lol! Because it's M :D

By the way, welcome back Kyra! I'm not running away :))

message 1938: by Kyra (last edited Oct 28, 2013 04:32PM) (new)

Kyra (Nikara) | 1221 comments Hi, Leslie! Good to be back. I missed you guys. Even the mice. XD

message 1939: by Jocelyn (new)

Jocelyn (joc113) You missed the mice? You're more delusional than I thought.

message 1940: by Kyra (new)

Kyra (Nikara) | 1221 comments :) Well, they're kind of cute. You know, when they don't put constipation syrup in Al's honeycomb.

message 1941: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments Leslie! Congratulations! What a wonderful mod you will be :)

message 1942: by [deleted user] (new)

Yay, thanks Ryan :) I think I have to swab the decks, or serve drinks, or feed the mice more often now :D Good morning!

message 1943: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Congratulations, Leslie and Ryan and Ajay!

And congratulations to Jim for an honorable mention in the November Goodreads Newsletter contest, for his poem “Sea Fireflies of Mindoro.”

message 1944: by [deleted user] (new)

Thank you, M :)

Congratulations Jim!! Hmm, I haven't been to Mindoro :P

message 1945: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments Thank you, M.

Good news about Jim. I seem to see your name and Jim's name appearing over there quite frequently. Obviously someone on the board has an eye for great writing.

Ajay (ajay_n) | 1138 comments Thank you, M!

Congrats, Jim!

message 1947: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments It wasn’t until a few minutes ago, when I turned a shoehorn upside down, that I noticed that the department-store name Dillard’s is in Goudy Oldstyle.

message 1948: by Christa VG (new)

Christa VG (christa-ronpaul2012) So (I think it was Kat, but it might have been someone else) put up a link to a free course online about storytelling. The other day the teacher was explaining the difference between the Story and the Plot. I am going to restate it here, both to clarify it in my own mind and also to see what you folks think of her explanation.

So the story is this line -------

You break up the line into say three pieces A- B- C-

Then you rearrange the pieces. B- A- C-

Thus the plot is the telling of the story, leaving out details that are unimportant and putting in the important ones at different places.

What do you think? (Does this question need to be put somewhere else? If so I can move it.)

message 1949: by Edward (new)

Edward (edwardtheresejr) | 2434 comments To borrow from Rowling, that explanation doesn't seem to explain.

message 1950: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments I don’t mind plot as long as it doesn’t interfere with the story.
