What are you reading?
Finished all the books in the above post, as well as
Now reading
- YA novel about a school without adults and where the kids aren't allowed to leave.
I got lucky with a few quick reads. But now I've got two reviews pending and considering how quickly I'm getting through my current read, I'll soon have 3.
I'm re-reading The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Some comfort reading for me because I'm missing my Kindle so much. ;)
Have you read the whole series Kahlan?

I don't know about that remake of the first Stieg Larsson book. I saw the three original films with Nooomi Rapace. They were excellent.
Has anyone read the third book?
Anyone else found it a bit confusing?

I've read all three books. I found the second book to be extremely boring. The third book tied it all together very nicely. No, I didn't find it confusing at all. I did however read them all within about 2 weeks.
I'm sure it helped that you read them one shortly after the other.
I actually mean that the names of everyone confused me, the story was really good and I agree that ti tied everything together. But those Swedish names, all sounded alike to me at one stage :)

Nah, it read pretty much like any Afrikaans novel where everyone is Hendrik or Jan or Jan-Hendrik ;)Everyone I know who has read all three do agree that it helps to read them without reading anything inbetween.
Kahlan wrote: "The place names were the hardest for me."Really? Never had an issue with them either. Was it the pronunciations?
I agree Kahlan
And the surnames of the people sounded all alike...
That's what confused me.
I know that there was a bad guy and a good guy with simmilar names...

I had the same problem as Niecole and Kahlan. Being unfamiliar with the names and unable to pronounce some of them made it particularly hard to keep track of the places and the very large cast of characters. With the most-used characters and places it was ok, and on the whole I had a good enough grasp to enjoy the story, but more minor characters were a nightmare and I often didn't know who they were talking about.
After reading Bloodlines I just had to get my hands on the 2nd book in this series:
. I just love this book and wonder why I was so hesitant to delve into this series in the first place. Glad I picked it up and what a page turner.
Lu (The Muggle) wrote: "That is good news Emma! I can't wait to read it :)"Thanks Lu, I had bloodlines for ages but I just didnt think it was going to be as good as VA,it had alot to live upto, but I think Mead a does a really good job and creating a stand alone series and Its a real page turner just like VA.
Lu (The Muggle) wrote: "I just love reading about Adrian! He is one of my fav characters ever :)"Probably because hes a bit of a bad boy but at the same time he needs someone to look after him. He reminds me of times of a lost puppy. All women think they can change a man and find great joy in doing so ;-). I was disappointed with the way Rose treated Adrian in VA, but undestood that her heart was always with Dimitri, so its nice that Adrian can maybe find some happiness and some peace with Sydney. Who knows...wil read on. :-)
I know what you mean :)
Ah Rose, yes that nearly ruined the whole VA experiance for me. I was so dissapointed. I think if I reread them I will skip the last 100 pages or so of that book.

About to start reading
for the Deserted Island challenge (Lu's choice).
I was going to continue reading A Dance with Dragons last night, but I started on the first chapter and just ... meh. Didn't feel like it.
I remembered the Diabolic Challenge where you have to read a book someone else chooses for you. Crusader picked out Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, so I started reading that and was hooked from the first page. Thanks Crusader. :P

I just finished Swimming to Antarctica: Tales of a Long-Distance Swimmer! Found it very inspiring as I am keen on getting more involved in open water swimming. It also means that I have read 100 books this year already!!!

Thanks. I had set my goal at 150 books, but as I reached 100 before the end of June I have increased it to 200!

My answer to the question of this topic: "what are you reading?" is absolutely nothing!
I have finished Duma Key last night and now I just don't know what to do with myself. What to read. There are so many books I want to read but they are all on a pile for the various challenges that start on Thursday. What book can I read that I will finish in that time and that doesn't turn out to be one I need for one of the challenges? I just don't know. Well fortunately I am very busy this morning so I won't have to make that decision untill this afternoon. :)

I probably read soms short stories collections, but it is frustrating to have a pile of books I really want to read and have it ready next to my sofa and not be allowed to read them.
I'm reading this:
I love the creepy cover. It's not very scary, but it's totally twisted. Although I might not be so brave if I read it after sunset...
I recommend that you do not! You have a cat and that is reason enough. It is my experience that whenever I am reading a scary book and I am totally focused on the book and forget everything around me and it gets really scary (or in your case twisted) my cat wil make a sound or even jump into my lap making me scream and my heart miss a beat. In the daytime they somehow don't do this, but after sunset. It is as if they know and maybe they do....
