Oh I'm so happy to see you back here.

I'm reading Evermore, The Stranger Beside Me: Ted Bundy The Shocking Inside Story and The Secret Diary of Anne Boleyn

Emma (emmauk007) | 1081 comments Thankyou Niecole, reading 2 books is a challenge for me..never mind 4!! How do you do it. lol

I have read evermore and enjoyed it Niecole. I have not read a book in awhile that really gripped me, so maybe thats why I am not reading like I normally do. I will have to start looking for something exciting, I have had too many bad books recently and been disappointed.

Lots to choose from, just dont know which. :-)

Maybe I should hip dip?

message 608: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith What's hip dip?

message 609: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey Emma

Oh I read them VERY VERY slowly...
I have the ebook of Evermore at work, so when I get time I read a bit of it...

The Stranger Beside me, well I've been reading it for a while now... not in a rush at all to do it, just reading for fun :)

This time of year is sooo busy for everyone, and work is hectic and exams, so I'm just chilling with all the challanges for a bit and doing what I can :)

message 610: by Emma (new)

Emma (emmauk007) | 1081 comments Lauren wrote: "What's hip dip?"

Sorry Lauren I forget thats ometimes I am in SA. Its a game that kids play when you want to choose teams at school.

message 611: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith LOL, ok :)
So how would you hip dip for a book to read?

message 612: by Emma (new)

Emma (emmauk007) | 1081 comments Well you choose your books and then you would say the rhyme...you probably have similar oens here in SA..not sure. We had hip dip..dog *hit who stood in it. The one book landing on it was out. We also had a rhyme racing cars number nine losing petrol all the time, cant remember the last bit. Its just an easy way to eliminate people, or in this case books.

message 613: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Ah, ok. I guess that would be eeny meeny miny mo here, although that's for choosing rather than eliminating, but there must be so many variations, I know there are others from school that I've forgotten.

message 614: by Emma (new)

Emma (emmauk007) | 1081 comments The good ole days..or not lol :-)

Just wondering what other people do when they have so many books they want to read but cant settle on one? Do you have a system?

message 615: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
Yip, I read the word of the month, it always helps me choose :)

message 616: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith At the moment I pick a book that works for as many challenges as possible, something I want to review or discuss, or a short book. But often I just stop and start until I find something I like or decide to commit myself to finishing something.

I've been lucky recently though - very decisive, with several 4 and 5 star reads.

message 617: by Emma (new)

Emma (emmauk007) | 1081 comments Decided on:

Catching Fire (Hunger Games, #2) by Suzanne Collins

message 618: by Monique (new)

Monique (moniqueurbanisedgeek) Emma... I assume you're read Hunger Games? I adore the whole trilogy!

message 619: by Emma (new)

Emma (emmauk007) | 1081 comments Yes It was quite some time ago Monique and I have been meaning to read the rest of the books for awhile now. Its started off good and eager to see what happens.

message 620: by Emma (new)

Emma (emmauk007) | 1081 comments Loved catching fire, now reading:

Skinned (Skinned, #1) by Robin Wasserman

message 621: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith I'm reading Pyramids by Terry Pratchett. I think you'd like this one Lu - it's based on ancient Egyptian mythology :)
On the other hand though, it's not one of Pratchett's funniest.

And almost finished with Ilium, my 730-page tome!

message 622: by Emma (new)

Emma (emmauk007) | 1081 comments Thought id just start reading this book as I am taking it on holiday with me. I am not one for reading books on holiday, but thought why not take something for the plane. Decided on this:

Bitten (Women of the Otherworld, #1) by Kelley Armstrong

Got it from the library on Saturday

My husband is taking Spud book 2.No doubt he will be chuckling to himself all way through the journey :-)

message 623: by Monique (new)

Monique (moniqueurbanisedgeek) rereading:
Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles, #1) by Kami Garcia

... as the sequel is out! :D

message 624: by Jan (new)

Jan Hurst-Nicholson (janhurst-nicholson) | 60 comments Hi Emma

If you are looking for something to read on the plane, would it be pushy if I suggested you take Something to Read on the Plane
Something to Read on the Plane by Jan Hurst-Nicholson

message 625: by Monique (new)

Monique (moniqueurbanisedgeek) Jan, I have read snippets here and there of your book. It's really enjoyable and light. Going to pass it on to my father once I am done, as he is a regular commuter.

By the way, as a fish owner, I loved the goldfish story!

message 626: by Jan (new)

Jan Hurst-Nicholson (janhurst-nicholson) | 60 comments Hi Monique,
So pleased you are enjoying the book. (Better not ask me to look after your fish!).

message 627: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith I'm reading Servant of the Underworld (Obsidian and Blood, # 1) by Aliette de Bodard .

It's a mixture of historical fiction, fantasy and murder mystery, all based on Aztec mythology. It's pretty good, and I'm looking forward to the sequel which is coming out in January next year.

Review to follow :)

message 628: by [deleted user] (new)

Mmmm sounds interesting!

I'm reading The Hunger Games, and I must say that I'm really enjoying it.

I've been wanting to read some YA but NOT vampires! I'm a little sick of all the vampire books at the moment, so The Hunger Games are pretty cool!

message 629: by Monique (new)

Monique (moniqueurbanisedgeek) Niecole I am also vampired out. But I do love Hunger Games!

message 630: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm glad someone agrees with me
I do love the vampire stuff but it gets a bit too much when every second book you read in the YA genre ends up to be vampires!
There must be something else people can write about?

I'm loving Hunger Games, I'm so anxious to get home and try and finish it.
I'll have to get the second and then third book as well

message 631: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Hmm, it's actually been a while since I read a vampire novel... I should pick one up some time soon.

message 632: by Monique (new)

Monique (moniqueurbanisedgeek) Lauren, have you tried Morganville Vampires? They are excellent.

Niecole, the whole trilogy is brilliant. :) you really should find them!

message 633: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Hmm, I was thinking of something more like The Strain or Kell's Legend. Or a classic like Carmilla. I'm not really into teen vampires.

message 634: by [deleted user] (new)

Finished Hunger games... what a great book.
I found a copy of The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho at my cousins house and she recommended I read it, so thats what I'm reading at the moment,
if anyone has any ideas where I can put this in a challenge let me know :)

message 635: by [deleted user] (new)

Just also wanted to let you all know that I LOVED the hunger games!

Will go see Spud asap :)

message 639: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahsetar) | 47 comments I just finished the The Vampire Diaries #5: Nightfall and it was terrible! Before that, I'd finished The Hunger Games (loved it!) and couldn't wait to start on Catching Fire, so I'm reading that at the moment. I'm also reading The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan and No! I don't want to join a bookclub by Virginia Ironside. So far all three seem pretty good.

message 640: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
Hi Sarah, yea the Vampire Diaries was just meh....

Glad you are enjoying your other books :D

message 641: by Naz (new)

Naz (nazz) I want to read! Sigh I've been so busy with work that I don't think I'm going to finish a book this month :( Sigh Ok I better get back to work.

message 642: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith I'm having the same problem Naz :( It's Murphy's Law - I get 14 000 eBooks, a Kindle read them on, and then I get really busy at work and a string of jewellery orders that I'll be staring at beads, not words for the weekend.
On the upside I can make a bit of extra money for the holidays :)

message 643: by Naz (new)

Naz (nazz) Damn Murphy and his stupid law. On a brighter note my holiday starts on Thursday. Whoopy! Hmm maybe I should skip the trip to CT and buy a kindle instead? Only my sister would probably kill me before it gets delivered.

message 644: by Monique (new)

Monique (moniqueurbanisedgeek) yeah work has been keeping me from reading too. :(

Finished up Watchmen (loved it!) and am reading Need by Carrie Jones, which is not going too badly.

message 645: by Naz (new)

Emma (emmauk007) | 1081 comments Back from my hols but was ill last few days of my holidays with a bug of some sort. Had a great time but glad to be home, theres nothing like youre own bed, especially when youre ill. Still getting over my illness but coming right slowly but surely. I did finish one book on holiday, and have decided to try:

Nightshade (Nightshade, #1) by Andrea Cremer

Will let you know how it goes.

message 647: by Emma (new)

Emma (emmauk007) | 1081 comments Really enjoyed this book. Got my hands on Last sacrifice by Richelle Mead and so eagerly delving into this today. Still ts sad that this series is at an end, but apparently there is a spin off series that she is writing called Bloodlines. Hopefully its as good as VA.
