Meredith (musingsbymeredith) The only way that I can read more than one book at a time is if they are different mediums, like a physical book and an audio book. Otherwise I find it too difficult to keep track :)

Alli The Book Giraffe (allithebookgiraffe) I am currently reading four books but I usually only read three at once

message 103: by Julie (new)

Julie | 44 comments I often am reading two at once. I take a Kindle to work with me but then I usually have an actual book on my bedside table.
I never thought I would like reading with a Kindle - but I love it. Easy to take to work and a little more private.
But then the feel of a book in my hands... Can't beat that.

message 104: by Tracy (new)

Tracy Usually I am reading a book and listening to a book but more times than not I will read two at a time. I think of it as watching a TV show, you don't just watch one show you watch several. I do the same with books, I will read one for a day and read another. So I will finish 3 or 4 books at the same time.

message 105: by Sarah (new)

Sarah I usually have two at the same time - one on my beloved Kindle and one physical copy, although I have a couple of extras on the go at the moment that I started but am just not feeling.

message 106: by Samantha (new)

Samantha I'm the same way, Sarah. I read one on my kindle and one paper book.

I always have several books going at one time. If I only have one book, I begin to panic.

Ann aka Iftcan (iftcan) | 394 comments Well, I think I need to re-think my goal. Hubby and I are prepping to move, and that's taking a lot of my attention away from reading. And we haven't even definitely decided to move yet.

I packed up ONE bookcase today--every book in it is by Andre Norton. 3 full boxes of books. Now I just need to worry about the other 14 bookcases, the books that are stacked along the window ledges, under the bed, on my desk, on the end tables in the family room. . . . Um, now, why did I decide that it would be a good idea to move again? Oh, yeah, it's to live by the beach and in a warmer climate. I only have to worry about hurricanes down there. No more snow storms, freezing weather for weeks at a time, cold, damp ICKY winters are for the birds--the penguins, that is. lol, well, I need to go see about putting together another box and start on yet another bookcase. (And how am I supposed to pack my autographed books? They need special handling. ACK--panic, panic, panic.)

I read about 3 books at once, picking up additional ones if I have to work through a boring passage. But I try to finish some of them soon, so that I won't have more than 3 current reads at a time.
But when a new book haul arrives or I find something interesting in the library... um... tempted to add one more!

message 111: by Julie (new)

Julie | 44 comments I have so many on my Kindle waiting to be read that I listed them all in Goodreads "currently reading" list so I can keep track. There are 14 - which is ridiculous. I need to hunker down and read for several days straight and NOT look at Amazon or walk into a bookstore!!

I'm with you, Tracy. I am always reading multiple books in different locations and for different reasons. I also will finish multiple books on the same day.

I also have a Kindle Fire and I have several books going on it...one audio, one reading and at least one book I am looking at for Homeschool reading for my granddaughter. My Kindle books have a tendency to get lost when I pick up more free books, so I sometimes read a chapter or two and put them in my "Currently Reading" pile along with library ebooks and audiobooks that I didn't finish before they ran out. It isn't unusual for me to have 10-14 books there.

message 113: by Julie (new)

Julie | 44 comments I set my goal at 75 books because I thought I might be taking some classes this year that would consume some of my time. Yesterday I finished my 75th book - and I am thinking I most likely will read 5 to 10 more before the end of the year.

message 114: by Karin (new)

Karin I typically read 3 books at a time (or listen). I have a CD going in my car, a play-a-way for home or if I go for a walk, and I have a book (hard copy or Nook) that I will read when I can find the time to sit down to concentrate.

message 116: by Meg (new)

Meg (amegthyst) | 3 comments I am reading at least 3 books at a time. One of them would be extremely big (approx. 800 pages - mostly non fiction), one would be a fiction (300-400 pages) and one ebook (which I read when I am on the go - mostly fiction). Although, I do have to admit, I have been confused many a times juggling different books at the same time. But this is the only solution to my losing focus on reading same book for a longer period of time.

Natalie Walker (natalie668) | 5 comments I've got 6 I'm currently reading at the moment, probably why I've gone through 20 books since the 9th February lol

Tammie Tackett i read 3 at the same time

message 119: by Julie (new)

Julie | 44 comments I aimed for 73 books last year based on reading less last year. Today - Sept 20th - I just closed my 73rd book! So I guess I need to up the ante. It has been a good year to read for me - less disturbances and drama. So I would guess that I can read quit a bit more from here to Dec 31st. Maybe 10? I am going to guess more than that...
