message 4651: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. Started Acheron yesterday and cried all day. Finally after dinner I cam to the second part and wasn't such a basket case. Love this book!

Kate Gould (kategould) | 3 comments I just finished reading May Sinclair's Uncanny Stories. It's a collection of tales of the supernatural. Eerie, startling and, of course, macabre, they are also terribly civilized. There is no projectile vomit, no ectoplasm, and no demon incarnate. There are murders, but only for the most honourable of reasons and in the most civilized of settings, committed by terribly nice people who just happen to have murdered someone.

message 4653: by Wild for Wilde (new)

Wild for Wilde (wildforwilde) Im reading Going Rogue, Inbound Marketing, Gone with the Wind, American Psycho, and a Picture of Dorian Gray! All pretty good so far (though I'm a little scared about American Psycho since I heard it gets pretty gory)

ok girls--Shannon & Michelle M--I have posted my review of
Nicholas and I have to say the Bestbeloved made it sound a lot more scandalous than it really is.

and Michelle, there is no mention of the men having hooves, maybe she was assuming they have hooves since they are Satyrs.

*************SPOILER**************SPOILER*****************
There are a few isolated incidents of crazy sexual situations, but I wouldn't classify this book as erotic. Okay, well...the double penis (one for each opening) is a little wacky and gives a whole new meaning to "DP". Other situations that would probably not be deemed as socially acceptable include: a long term sexual relationship between a man and his stepsister / the virginal Jane, wife of Nicholas is shared in a coupling during one of the full moon sex festivals with his 2 brothers...while he watches and finally, a band of evil women have a big orgy (with each other) then torture-have sex with-then kill a teenage boy.

In a nutshell, it's not very well written and the story just didn't flow for me. The "shocking" sexual scenes seemed to be thrown in for shock value.

has anyone read this book? i just want to see someones thoughts on it."

Kabs, I thought Sunshine was good but not great. It's urban fantasy, not romance. It's very rambling in the storytelling, almost stream of conscience. I had to focus to finish it. It's a three star read for me.

message 4674: by Tracy74 (new)

Tracy74 I've read so many of your reviews about Vampire Academy that I figured it had to be my next series to read.....so needless to say I'm on Chapt 2.

message 4675: by Heather B (new)

Heather B (heatherbenson) Nice I hope that you like them. Did you read a lot of reviews before deciding that you wanted to read it?

message 4676: by Chrissy315 (new)

Chrissy315 Jones | 12 comments I have been snowed in for the past four days. So I was able to read Meridian by Amber Kizer and Rosemary and Rue (October Daye, #1) by Seanan McGuire . Meridan was different but good. I thought Rosemary and Rue was ok. I just started Blue Moon by Lori Handeland. I really am enjoying this book so far.

message 4677: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jnhart) Just finished Deathwish by Rob Thurman. Pretty good.

Now reading Blood Promise by Richelle Mead. Excellent so far. I love Rose.

Mona Lisa Awakening by Sunny
Glass Houses by Rachel Caine
Ink Exchange by Melissa Marr
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Seth Grahame-Smith

The Romance Reviews (Carole) (The_Romance_Reviews) | 37 comments I know my blog mate Silver is currently reading Embrace the Darkness by Alexandra Ivy. In fact, we just published our review of her latest book Darkness Unleashed on our blog (http://theravingreaders.blogspot.com). I've heard a lot about Vampire Academy. Maybe I'll read that next. :)

message 4679: by [deleted user] (last edited Dec 23, 2009 02:28AM) (new)

I'm currently reading:
Wicked is the Night by Catherine Mulvany I'm about 3/4 of the way through and so far it's really good, funny, action packed but pretty tame in the sex department.

and

Dark Nights, Dark Dreams Sisterhood of the Sight by Savannah Russe another really good read so far. This is the first in a new series by this author.

message 4680: by Laura (new)

Laura Fonseca (daddy_girl_ynk) | 90 comments im reading Lover Enshrined (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #6) by J.R. Ward ; so far its good. Phury is great and sweet, but not my fave brother...still having trouble reading it. I'm a ZSADIST lover :]

message 4681: by Laurie (barksbooks) (new)

Laurie (barksbooks) (barklesswagmore) Hi, I'm new! I am currently reading Changeling book #2 in the sisters of the moon series. It's not wowing me though and the first book in the series seriously annoyed me.

Can someone recommend something newish that's interesting, fun, romantic, sexy and original?

message 4682: by Heather B (new)

Heather B (heatherbenson) I've heard that the Black Dagger Brotherhood is really good, but I haven't had a chance to read it, and I think that from what I've heard it fits that discription.

message 4683: by Laurie (barksbooks) (new)

Laurie (barksbooks) (barklesswagmore) I haven't read those, maybe I should!

message 4684: by Tracy74 (new)

Tracy74 Heather wrote: "Nice I hope that you like them. Did you read a lot of reviews before deciding that you wanted to read it?"

Quite a few reviews and they were all really good. So I'm jumping in!

message 4685: by Heather B (new)

Heather B (heatherbenson) ahaha Well I'm sure you'll like them, they're really good and adicting. I would get all of them at that same time cause once you start you wont want to stop.

Don't be turned off if you're kind of so-so about Dark Lover. I thought it was very good, but the books get even better. Here are the books:

Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward Lover Eternal (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #2) by J.R. Ward Lover Awakened (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #3) by J.R. Ward Lover Revealed (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #4) by J.R. Ward Lover Unbound (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #5) by J.R. Ward Lover Enshrined (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #6) by J.R. Ward Lover Avenged (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #7) by J.R. Ward

message 4687: by Laurie (barksbooks) (new)

Laurie (barksbooks) (barklesswagmore) You know, after looking at the covers I think I have one or two of those in my pile of books. I'll have to dig them out over vacation next week. I'm hoping for lots of snow so I can stay in and hibernate with my kids, dogs and books!

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 461 comments It's good you have a few on hand. They are like crack. You will want to start the next one right away, LOL.

Kat (A Journey In Reading) (ajourneyinreading) I am currently reading Lover Eternal (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #2) by J.R. Ward .....started it last night and almost finished.

message 4695: by Nita (new)

Nita (gillnit) Finished up Finding the Lost (Sentinel Wars, #2) by Shannon K. Butcher . The first book in the series, Burning Alive was ok, good enough for me to try the second one. I enjoyed Finding the Lost a whole bunch more. It will be interesting to see where the author takes this series.

I am going to start Dance With The Devil (Dark-Hunter, #4) by Sherrilyn Kenyon .

Kat (A Journey In Reading) (ajourneyinreading) Laura wrote: "Oh that's my fave book from the whole series. Zsadist is my fav brother. Did you enjoy it??"

I am enjoying it........ I am leaning toward liking Z, but can't quite figure him out yet.

If you're talking about the Mermaid series, I do think her vampire series is more erotic. She writes a fantastic contemporary BDSM series at Elloras Cave, but it has to be to your taste. I definitely prefer the vampires to the mermaids. She's fantastic.

message 4698: by Imen (new)
