Cherra...I just read that as well and thought it was really cute. I also just read You Slay Me (Aisling Grey Guardian, #1) by Katie MacAlister and it was cute as well. I liked A Quick Bite better but they are both just pure fun. I am waiting for the rest for the rest of the Aisling Gray series from the library. After I read those three then I will work on the Argeneau series.

Gaby G (magabygc) I just finished Fire, by Kristin Cashore. It was amazing, I love it!!

message 4253: by Tonya (new)

Tonya | 179 comments I started reading A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark, #2) by Kresley Cole last night and had a hard time putting it down and going to bed. Unfortunately the yawns won, and I went to bed. I have started so many series it's hard to decide what to read next. I will probably have to finish the Aisling Gray series when those come in from the library but since I bought all of Kresley Cole Immortals After Dark series, I will read thos while I wait.

I loved both of her books--I loved Graceling, but I actually think I might have loved Fire even more.

message 4255: by Nita (new)

Nita (gillnit) I finished up Tempted (House of Night, #6) by P.C. Cast . I really like Stevie Rae's storyline. Not a lot of other stuff happened, but I liked what I read.

Now I am about to start Darkness Unleashed (Guardians of Eternity #5) by Alexandra Ivy

I have You slay me in my tbr pile too. I finished A quick bite and liked it--something a little different from what I have been reading. I would classify it as more a chick-lit/pnr if i were describing it to a friend. I am getting ready to start Nicholas (The Lords of Satyr, #1) by Elizabeth Amber --i have heard good things about this series.

FlibBityFLooB I think I gave A Quick Bite 2/5 stars because at the time I read it I was in the middle of reading the Aisling Grey series and the Queen Betsy series (both of which struck me as really funny). I think at the time I was disappointed in the humor in A Quick Bite. I seem to be in the minority in my rating.

I suppose that begs the question... Does anyone think that they rated something more harshly than they might otherwise based on other books they were reading around the same time period? I'm curious now :)

I know I have rated books more harshly than they deserve based on how I felt about other books I just finished reading. I like to call that "the rebound book or books" you know, you just finish an awesome book or series and nothing else seems to compare... I am also sure that I am tougher on books I have heard a lot of hoopla about--maybe my expectations are too high when I read them and am disappointed.

I ♥ Bookie Nookie (bookienookiereviews.blogspot.com) (ibookienookie) actually, i am not going to read Nicholas. I am going to read The Van Alen Legacy (Blue Bloods, #4) by Melissa de la Cruz

Melissa @ Tara, DarkHeart, Shannon, New User:
I LOVE Rob Thurman's Cal Leandro series. I never thought the brother's relationship was creepy. There is so much action in the books, they are hard to put down. There's plenty of laughs and bits of romance. It's a cool world and I always grab the latest book and read it immediately. The books are great UF. Just my 2 cents!

I'm on page 194 and I finally feel like I am getting into it. I liked it at the beginning and I thought Cal, who is the narrator was funny, but I didn't really feel like the story had a plot. A lot of information but no plot. (Typical first book syndrome) Now I still don't know what the plot it, but I think the inciting incident(look at me using my 9th grade english class 20 years later!) just happened. And the action and story seems to have picked up and I'm finding a flow. I always have a slight problem with first person writing, but this one is particularly weird because it's a guy. All that being said, unless something awful happens like he wakes up and the whole book was a dream or something, I believe I'll continue reading, not just the book, but the series. It's a little different and I like different. It's a change of pace from what I've been reading and what I have on my GIANT TBR pile. Plus, I already checked them out from the library so I might as well!

message 4268: by Melissa (new)

Melissa No, it's not all a dream! That was funny! It's been awhile since I've read the first book, so maybe I'm forgetting if it took me some adjustment time as well. I have never been bothered by first person so that didn't make me hesitate. I enjoyed the male point of view it's written from. I think it's the latest book that has the writing switching back and forth between Cal and Niko and I think the author did a good job with that, too. By the way, the author, Rob Thurman, is actually a woman.

message 4269: by Tara (new)

Tara | 596 comments I knew Rob Thurman was a woman, (her picture was my first clue ;D) I just meant "being in the head" of a guy is weird, you know thinking with a guy voice seeing through a guy's eyes it's weird having never been a guy and all...

message 4270: by Valorie (new)

Valorie | 426 comments I just finished Tainted (The Blood Lily Chronicles, #1) by Julie Kenner really enjoyed it. It's more of an Urban Fantasy opposed to Paranormal Romance. Not to much romance in it, but a good read all the same. Great plot and smart, witty writing. I really liked the main heroine, Lily. She was a sarcastic kick ass character! I'm now starting on The Devil Inside (Morgan Kingsley, #1) by Jenna Black

Well, I'm picking it back up and have added it to my challenge list for the month, so we'll see how it goes. And their relationship never bothered me - it had a real Supernatural feel to it.

E.J. Stevens | 2 comments Wow! There are some fabulous books listed in this thread.

I'm currently reading:
1) Dracula: The Un-Dead by Dacre Stoker and Ian Holt (a continuation of the original Dracula story by Bram Stoker).
2) Vampire by Joules Taylor (reference)
3) Werewolves by Jon Izzard (reference)
4) The Mythical Creatures Bible by Brenda Rosen (reference)

p.s. I also just finished Bitten by Kelley Armstrong (Women of the Otherworld series) and am looking forward to the next book. Armstrong uses an interesting shift in character focus in this series which I am curious about.

That's what's off!! I didn't realize what I was missing until you said. I know it sounds sarcastic, but I'm being serious-- it's been one of those weeks and my brain couldn't figure out what I was wanting but missing, because there is nothing wrong with the story, I just was missing something. Thank you! (I'm an absolute airhead sometimes)

It did start out a bit slow but I enjoyed it. I was in the mood for something funny and after you got through the beginning, it was pretty funny. The main character is a bit ditsy and finds herself confused much of the time, but amusingly so I thought. I've also been reading a lot of vampire books recently, so it was a nice change.

I ♥ Bookie Nookie (bookienookiereviews.blogspot.com) (ibookienookie) i just started Full Moon Rising (Riley Jenson Guardian, #1) by Keri Arthur . it is too soon to tell, but the story started off on the right foot, so that is a good sign.

Valorie | 426 comments I just finished The Devil Inside (Morgan Kingsley, #1) by Jenna Black I enjoyed it. It took me a few chapters to get past Morgan's negativity towards demons but still a good read once you get into it. It does have some S&M and M/M scenes, so if that is not your cup of tea you might not enjoy it. The scenes are nothing too extravagant and few and far between. I still enjoyed the plot and the smart writing. I am definitely adding the next book to my TBR pile! I'm now starting on Eve of Darkness (Marked, Book 1) by S.J. Day

I really enjoyed the book..even though I didnt read the previous Nocturne City novels. Really liked Luna as a character. Cant wait to read the next book in the series! Still so long till its released :(

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 737 comments **** Vague-ish Nocturne City series SPOILER ****

Denell, you jumped into the series with Witch Craft? Interesting. =) I'd definitely recommend the earlier books in the series. I'm not exactly sure where Caitlin is taking Luna, and whether or not Dmitri will be back, but I'm looking forward to the next installment.

I wasn't planning on reading it just yet, but the last book left me with an unresolved HEA, so I had to read the next to find out what happens. That will be the last one in the Dark Ones series.
