What are you reading right now?
LOL LIsa it's a great cover! And I've got half-naked hunky dudes on all of mine! I love them. To keep this on topic *ggg* I just finished Patricia Briggs' Blood Bound. It was another great read. I'm going to have to get Iron Kissed next but my TBR Pile is bursting! I'm gonna finish up a RS by a friend of mine and then hit Kelley Armstrong's first YA.
I'm currently reading Gale Force by Rachel Caine. It's book 7 of her Weather Warden series. Caine is one of my favorites.
I don't mind half naked men on the cover at all...I kinda like it. What I don't like is when they don't resemble the main character at all. This has been mentioned before but the last two Kresley Cole books were that way. Actually it was the second to the last one that was the worst. The guy on the cover had dark hair and Cadeon is described as blonde with shoulder length hair. Everytime I picked up the book, the guy on the cover got stuck in my head and I found myself mentally re-adjusting my image of Cadeon all the time. All her books previous to that had both the male and female on the cover and they resembled the descriptions of the characters. I dunno...maybe it's just me.
NU, hope you enjoy Sea Witch!I'm reading Robin McKinley's Rose Daughter, written 20 years after Beauty, her first retelling of Beauty and the Beast. It's a good "chapter at bedtime book," which is all I have time for right now, and gorgeously written, but...There's just not a lot of romance. Lots of description of the castle, the gardens, Beauty's family, all of it very lush and evocative. But I want more interaction with the Beast!
Wait, the second to last Kresley Cole book was Cadeon's story? I thought that would be "Dark Needs at Night's Edge." Is there another one after "Dark Desires After Dusk?" I will not get my hopes up. That would be too sad...I actually loved the cover of "Dark Needs at Night's Edge." It looked very much like Conrad to me. As someone has pointed out, one of the most glaring inaccuracies in Cadeon's picture is that his horns are missing.
No Cassandra, you're right. The last book was Cade's story. No horns and the wrong color hair!I agree that the book about Conrad did resemble the way he was described. That was the second to last.
We have to wait until February for the next book which will be about Rydstrom. I can't wait to learn what happened to him while he was held captive and what his big secret is.
I hope she keeps cranking out these books because I love them! We still don't know the whole story about Nikolai's oldest brother. I can't remember his name but there's a story there.
I just finished Angela Knight's Master of Dragons and Jayne Ann Krentz's Dark Light. Loved both of them. For my next read, I'm trying to decide between about half a dozen books at the top of Mt. TBR: Feehan's latest, Knight's latest, Nora's High Noon, a Kresley Cole book, and a few others.
Reading Magic Bites for the Urban Fantasy group but I"m waiting on the last Blood Ties book, All Soul's Night. Should be here tomorrow hopefully!

Guys, I'm in a quandary. I don't know what to read! I've got a ton of stuff that I have to read for class, none of which is terrifically fun (though The Silmarillion is better than books on composition pedagogy, ngh), but I need some brain candy. I just don't know what to pick up! [sob]
OK, TDF - I looked at your to be read bookshelf and I recommend reading the Dante Valentine series by Lilith Saintcrow. Not on your shelf, my recommendation would be a sci fi book called The Automatic Detective by A. Lee Martinez. His best book yet. This book is easy to get into and hard to put down. Should be a quick read too. It's a really cool concept. Happy reading!I'm currently reading Tithe by Holly Black. So far it's good and I think I'll like the series. It's a fast read because it's YA.
I just finished Gale Force! I love Rachel Caine.
I am currently reading a non-romance.....Stephen Lawhead Hood. Though I just bought Real Vampires have Curves and read the first chapter and I was laughing out loud.

@Lisa: Don't I feel silly now? lol. Thanks for the heads up, it's be on my list. :)Finished Sea Witch, which was a good read. It was a sweet, down to earth romance, more of a traditional romance than I've read in a while (despite the hint of fantasy) and the selkies were done well, as distant and strange as folklore has always made them. I'll put the next one on my TBR.
Now reading Heart of the Wolf by Terry Spear, which looks good.
Finally picking up book one in the sookie series in preparation for TB
I just finished Dead in Dallas and started Club Dead. Can't wait to see the show.

Yeah it's weird because I 've read every available book in the series but the first. It was good even though I had to endure the Sookie /Bill relationship once more.
Good morning,everyone. A bit out of genre, I just finished The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss this morning. It was an excellent fantasy, but now I have to wait another year for Book 2. One Foot In the Grave and A Lick of Frost are on the to-be-read shelf.Cheers!

Currently reading the fourth book in Laura Anne Gilman's Retriever's Series - Burning Bridges. Pretty good. It's not too heavy on the sex but there also doesn't seem to be enough of it.
I am currently reading The Mammoth Book of Vampire Romance. It has a ton of short stories by new authors of paranormal romance. I am also new to paranormal romance and thought it would be a great book to pick up to learn some authors I may or may not like! So far the book has a ton of talented authors so I am very pleased with my find!I just finished the new book by Lynda Hilburn, Dark Harvest! Great book, I am in the midst of writing a review for the book so you can check out what I think on my page. It is also the second in a series of Lynda Hilburn's. Vampire Shrink was the first and Dark Harvest is the second. I recommend them to anyone looking for a great story to read!
Just finished Well Pleasured Lady by Christina Dodd. (Great stuff if you like historicals and alpha heroes.) Now going on to One Kiss From You, I think, by the same author. I don't doubt I'll enjoy this one too.

Ranata, I'm reading Book 1 of the Blood Ties series! I'm almost finished with it. It's really good. I have books 2 and 3 on my shelf and am looking forwar to reading those this week.

Ya know, I read the Blood Ties book a while ago, enjoyed it, put it on my bookshelf, and promptly forgot all about getting the rest of the series! I blame it on my continous addiction to Laurell K. Hamilton ^_^Anyhoo... thank you for reminding me to, not only re-read the 1st one, but to go find the rest of them!
Oh, and I'm currently reading The Red Heart of Jade (Dirk & Steele novel #3) by Marjorie M. Liu -- fantastic series! I highly recommend her!
I wanted to get the first Sookie book this weekend but BN didn't have it. WTH? So I picked up Skinned by Robin Wasserman--it's a YA book (and first in a trilogy). I really enjoyed it.
I'm reading Dancing with the Devil by Keri Arthur. It's the first book in the Nikki & Michael series. I think it's a spin off of her Damask series.
Ranata, I'm almost done with book 2 now and my heart is broken. I wrote about it in the New Moon group. I'm really enjoying this series and I'm glad I'm able to read them back to back. I've been able to do that with all the series I'm reading now since I'm so late to this genre. It's great but I sure have a lot of books on my TBR shelf!

I'm still reading boring stuff for class, but I started re-reading Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets the other day. It feels like a good time for a re-read of the series.
I'm only one Book 5 of LKH and I was kind of bored with it so I put it aside. I do plan on reading it because I hear in the 6th book, I get Anita/Jean Claude action! I might not like Anita that much as a person but her adventures are cool. Well told. I hate the fact that they lose focus and descend into porn!
Fangirl, that reminds me! I should re-read HBP for the upcoming movie although I have a feeling they will destroy it the way they did OOtP but at least I know I loved the book. Thats my favorite one...well except for Ginny and the end. =(Lori, I know why you are heartbroken because I was too. LOL
I just finished reading Pleasure Unbound by Larissa Ione, I am looking forward to book two when it comes out.
I have just finished Dara Joy's Rejar. I would like to read all of the series, as time permits. I have had to read on the throne at times! lol

Of course... I've got a serious weakness for Jason Isaacs as Lucius Malfoy (mmm, Luscious Lucius), so maybe that influenced my liking OotP. ;)
I did not like OOtP and I feel like GoF was the best movie so far. I enjoyed it and thought it stayed true to the book. I thought OOtP took it away from the books, especialy the part where they are flying by a cruise ship like it's just natural for them to do that in plain muggle sight.I'm so excited for HBP cuz I loved reading about Voldemort's past. Very interesting and evil kid he was!

But yeah, the "flying straight down the Thames aren't we supposed to be avoiding muggles?" thing bugged the snot out of me, too. Luckily Lucius Malfoy had a big enough role to make me happy. ;)
I just started the Sookie Stackhouse novels - Dead Until Dark by Charlain Harris. I saw the first episode of TrueBlood, the series based on the book, and decided to give it a whirl. I'm only about 20 pages in, but so far so good.
I am reading Karen Moning's Fever series. Just finished Darkfever last night, will start Bloodfever today. The third comes out tues! I have Dead Until Dark in my TBR pile!
Everyone has the hots for Lucius. I just got it bad for Ron Weasley. I love redheads!I actually liked the dragon scene during the Triwizard Tournament. I mean, a lot of things bugged me about that movie (like Crouch, Jr. not getting eaten by a dementor and Harry's long hair) but I thought all the tournament parts were decent. You know they mainly ignore the other plotlines unless Harry is somehow involved. I didn't like the 5th one at all and not even Ron could make me like that one. Sirius' death was so wimpy!

Just finished Darkfever by Moning last night. Started Bloodfever this morning. Although I liked Darkfever, it didn't move as fast as I wanted it to.... and there was no sex! I guess I'm just too used to Laurell K Hamilton... LOL! Now it seems I have to have sex in every book I read or I think there's something lacking.... *gasp* I'm such a book whore >_<
I just finished the 4th Blood Ties book and am starting on the 5th Sookie Stackhouse book.I'm with you Heather. I like some sex with my romance! I guess that makes me a book whore too!
I’m a Moning fangirl and am I’m beyond excited for tomorrow’s release of Faefever (even with the painfully absent lack of sex in the first two of the Fever Series). I spent a fair amount of time trolling the local bookstores over the weekend to see if any of them had put the book out for sale early (I found Bloodfever early last year) but came up empty-handed. There’s a bookstore a couple blocks from my office and you can bet your buns that I’ll be taking a long break tomorrow morning to buy my copy as soon as the store opens!

@Ranata: I do write romance, no doubt about that, but I hope you'll still give me a read (book cover or not). There are some terrific Harlequin/Silhouette books out there, btw. Sarah at SmartBitchesTrashyBooks put out a challenge to some guy who ran down category romances to read one before he mouthed off any more. He accepted, and now she's collecting recommendations of which one to send him. Go check out her list and try one. You might find out just how good they can be!
