Swati (swati45) | 35 comments can anyone suggest something funny like the humor in Cassandra clare's Mortal Instruments series? Or filled with fiesty character like in the lovely vicious series by Sara wolf? I mean anything that is light and fun. I recently finished reading The Untouchable. I need a break....

message 39006: by Swati (new)

Swati (swati45) | 35 comments For people who love sci fi, I would suggest The Diabolic by SJ Kincaid. a very under rated book but a good read. I loved it.

message 39007: by DemetraP (new)

DemetraP | 379 comments @Swati: Author Zoe Chant's shifter books usually have a lot of humor. The Master Shark's Mate was very funny. Wildfire Sea Dragon featuring a prince of the sea was laugh out loud funny. (He can see the future and sometimes sees visions in the toilet bowl water)

Dragon of Glass (Fae Shifter Knights, #1) by Zoe Chant Unicorn of Glass (Fae Shifter Knights #2) by Zoe Chant Gryphon of Glass (Fae Shifter Knights, #3) by Zoe Chant I second the recommendation of Zoe Chant. I particularly like this Fae Shifter Knights series.

I've not read CC, but my personal rec is the Smith's Shifter World by Shelly Laurenston

Pack Challenge (Magnus Pack, #1) by Shelly Laurenston Go Fetch! (Magnus Pack, #2) by Shelly Laurenston Here Kitty, Kitty! (Magnus Pack, #3) by Shelly Laurenston When He Was Bad (Magnus Pack, #3.5; Pride, #0.75; Smith's Shifter World, #3.5) by Shelly Laurenston
Like a Wolf with a Bone (Pride #0.5) by Shelly Laurenston The Mane Event (Pride, #1) by Shelly Laurenston The Beast in Him (Pride, #2) by Shelly Laurenston The Mane Attraction (Pride, #3) by Shelly Laurenston The Mane Squeeze (Pride, #4) by Shelly Laurenston Beast Behaving Badly (Pride, #5) by Shelly Laurenston Big Bad Beast (Pride, #6) by Shelly Laurenston Bear Meets Girl (Pride, #7) by Shelly Laurenston Wolf with Benefits (Pride, #8) by Shelly Laurenston Bite Me (Pride, #9) by Shelly Laurenston
Hot and Badgered (Honey Badger Chronicles, #1) by Shelly Laurenston In a Badger Way (Honey Badger Chronicles, #2) by Shelly Laurenston Badger to the Bone (Honey Badger Chronicles, #3) by Shelly Laurenston Three separate series in the same world with many overlapping characters, these books are wild, campy, frenetic, absurd and totally OTT and that is what I love about them. They are collectively and individually the most fun I've ever had reading, and each series is progressively better than the previous in terms of the writing and the narrative, especially the pinnacle of the Honey Badgers trilogy which is pure comedy gold to me.

BUT, SL is a very polarising author who has a very strong signature to her writing that some people just don't get on with. Some hate her humour and how chaotic her books are (because they are totally chaotic lol!) and how totally OTT her 'warrior' female characters tend to be - they are often far deadlier than her male characters - even the stupidly alpha ones!

She also writes high fantasy dragon shifters under the pen name GA Aiken and those I've heard are just as funny but are still on my TBR.

I’m currently reading Steelheart Steelheart (The Reckoners, #1) by Brandon Sanderson . The author is a bit repetitious, which is annoying me. Hopefully it doesn’t continue as I get more into the story.

I started listening to All the Light We Cannot See All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr . This is for an A-Z challenge I’m doing with a friend. Trying to pick books I normally wouldn’t read.
