This is kind of dry but, Stephen King's "On Writing".

I've not read CC, but my personal rec is the Smith's Shifter World by Shelly Laurenston

BUT, SL is a very polarising author who has a very strong signature to her writing that some people just don't get on with. Some hate her humour and how chaotic her books are (because they are totally chaotic lol!) and how totally OTT her 'warrior' female characters tend to be - they are often far deadlier than her male characters - even the stupidly alpha ones!
She also writes high fantasy dragon shifters under the pen name GA Aiken and those I've heard are just as funny but are still on my TBR.

Also, I am about to start

I’m currently listening to Alpha & Omega

Alien heroes find human women who crashed on their planet.

I’m enjoying the Alpha & Omega series so far, more so than the Mercy Thompson series (I stopped after book 3).
Up next is Angelfall

I was not impressed either. I like her Nadia Stafford (human hitwoman/assassin) series and her Otherworld series.

I also finished Pet Sematary

I’m listening to A Court of Silver Flames

I dnf’d Death's Dancer

I plan on reading Burn for Me

Kate Daniels (10 books total) - Ilona Andrews
A Court of Thorns and Roses (4 books total) - Sarah J. Maas
Fever (11 books total) - Karen Marie Moning

I’m really hopeful. I’ve heard good things :)

It's funny and the romance is slow burn but definitely there.

I finished Burn for Me

I’m almost done listening to Hunting Ground

Right now, I'm reading Of Both Worlds by Josselyn Stark. I'm nearly finished and loved it so far.

I loved that series thats why I am moved onto this. if you liked that, also look at the Veil Diaries.

I’ve finished listening to Hunting Ground

Have to agree with you on the earlier books, but I just can't stop reading them all.

Road trip to Chicago, listening to

I’m currently reading Steelheart

I started listening to All the Light We Cannot See
