The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments Gems, if you don't like Kiyo, you definitely need to read Thorn Queen. You shan't be disappointed.

Gems (zadien) | 134 comments Kk, I'll go look about getting it. I need something to take my mind of these english Lit assignments - I've never known something that could turn you off the exact thing you're supposed to be studying.

Welcome, Caramelle! I'm reading One Foot in the Grave right now too. Love Bones!

new_user | 1389 comments Yup, you'll want to read the second book then for sure. ;) I'm not feeling Anna Paquin in True Blood. I think she's probably the worst of the cast, but then again, I'm not really a fan. I find the whole thing kind of exaggerated and comical for my tastes.

Sabrina Oh yes, the yearning and longing wears thin doesn't it? I especially hate the hero's oh-so-stoic "I WILL resist her because ... because ... I just will! I must!! Oh her skin - but I will resist!!" *yawn*

LMAO! I just finished To Tame A Highland Warrior and it was EXACTLY like that.

I am curious to hear what you think when you're finished. I saw that book at Costco a few weeks ago and wasn't sure it was worth the money. It definitely had an interesting premise.

FlibBityFLooB Sabrina,

I loved the first 278 pages of Mr Darcy, Vampyre. I thought the author was doing a good integration with Austen-esque style writing.

However, I hated the ending :( It kind of died at the climax of the book and in the end it was way too syrupy for me.

Tara | 596 comments Just started Lover Unbound (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #5) by J.R. Ward and I am really enjoying this series so far! REALLY! The only thing I keep coming back to and it's so minor and in no way is making me dislike the series, I just keep hoping it will eventually get explained. All the members of the BDB Wrath, Rhage, Zsadist, Phury, Vishous, Torhment... and Darius? Really Darius? It sounds so, not deadly. I'm just saying.

Ok, call me stupid, but where are vampire teeth supposed to come from if not the eye teeth or canines?

message 3765: by Gems (new)

Gems (zadien) | 134 comments I don't know what it is with the pictures on True Blood but the fangs look far too close together - in comparison to the other shows I've seen. Maybe I have the name of the teeth mixed up but there's one clip that it keeps repeating on the advert that really makes the fangs look like cat fangs and just not that intimidating.

Then again, I'm not really enthralled with the whole series anyway.

message 3766: by [deleted user] (new)

I am new to your group but it looks fun! I am reading Hunting Ground (Alpha & Omega, #2) by Patricia Briggs right now and just finished Cry Wolf (Alpha & Omega, #1) by Patricia Briggs .

As far as the fangs go...I would think that they come out of the canines...I agree with Gems, I think the fangs are to close together and they kinda look goofy. :)

message 3767: by Gems (new)

Gems (zadien) | 134 comments I was looking at a pic of Bill there and his seems to come out of his canines but it's was a side pic so I'm not so sure. I definitely know that the advert guys fangs were just wrong. Is the Alpha/Omega series any good? I read Mercy a while ago and I liked them but I've since gone off UF because there's a distinct lack of romance in the books I've read or the male is completely redundant which makes me wonder why the protagonist is with him.

message 3768: by Nita (new)

Nita (gillnit) I finished up Dreams Underfoot (Newford Book 1) by Charles de Lint . I liked some of the short stories more than the others, but overall a great collection.

I started Queene of Light (Lightworld/Darkworld, #1) by Jennifer Armintrout last night.

I ♥ Bookie Nookie (bookienookiereviews.blogspot.com) (ibookienookie) ok, i do agree--this guy looks like an idiot with his fangs coming from his lateral incisor/eye teeth as opposed to his canines--I am no expert, but they would look more "realistic" (I can't believe I just typed that word in the same sentence as vampire and fangs) if they were on the canines or third tooth from center.

Gems (zadien) | 134 comments OMG!! That's him! He has kitty fangs... now seriously, I can't take him seriously as a scary evil vampire because he has cat fangs. I could break them, I know I could. I'm not a strong person and I'm pretty tiny but I could break them - they probably wouldn't even puncture my skin. Maybe his intention is to pounce on victims who are pissing themselves laughing.

And yes, I am getting worked up over something so pathetic but it's that or get seriously depressed over this critical theory essay. Whoever said Undergrads get an easy time at university LIED! Of course, if my life seems tough now, god knows how my postgrad will go.

I really like the Mercy series and so this is not quite living up to those but it is still ok. It does get frustrating because its the same ole story "he doesn't know why she is scared of him and she doesn't think he really wants her but she just can't live without him" and so therefore they never get anything done because of all the conflict :)) I can get on my soap box sometimes...sorry

message 3774: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments The first pic, is that the dork from the convenience store in episode 1? If so, he was faking vamp and got scared off by a real vampire. The second is Lorena, a main character and a vamp in season 2. I completely agree the first set look like kitten teeth!

CJ - It's only a Paper Moon (bookewyrm) | 57 comments Currently reading : Rosemary and Rue (October Daye, #1) by Seanan McGuire

Pretty good. A dark but more realistic version of the Laurell K. Hamilton world of Fae that has pervaded the market.

Ah that would explain the horrible teeth and the sheer dopeyness of his expression as if he's saying "Cheese! Look I have fangs too, aren't they pearly?!" The second set of fangs do look more realistic but again seem to be coming out of the wrong teeth which seem weird to me because it just naturally occurs to me that canines would elongate into fangs.

Actually I am pretty sure he was the real vampire. It was the convenience store clerk who was faking it to scare the boyfriend and girlfriend who came in asking if the store had tru blood.

I agree with Nita...he was definitely a real vamp...but his fangs were stupid! And the only reason I think Lorena look any better is because her teeth are bigger. :)

message 3779: by Gems (new)

Gems (zadien) | 134 comments That is pretty much why her fangs look better despite coming from the wrong teeth because she has dog teeth that could do damage in comparison to Kitten teeth! I want to call them Pussy Teeth but that has bad connotations and makes me think of the quote 'fangs in her vagina' which comes from... somewhere, I don't know.

yeah, i cant really get very scared of him either...

message 3781: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments Oh well, I knew he was from that scene! Maybe it was wishful thinking on my part that he was the fake! I don't think the kitten teeth were used often, if that's any consolation! The snapping noise when they let the fangs loose is always bizarre to me, moreso than the look of them.

CJ - It's only a Paper Moon (bookewyrm) | 57 comments Cherra wrote: "these don't look as bad but they are still in the wrong spot...

The canine teeth are where fangs typically are (on a human) and they are the third tooth over from the two front teeth.

message 3783: by Gems (new)

Gems (zadien) | 134 comments Yeah but they have two front teeth and the fangs beside them. That's not where the canines are which is why I have such a problem with the teeth, not to mention the fact that that man has the fangs of a cat. Even Pervert Kitty - the resident stray in our campus accomodation - has wicked-er looking teeth.

message 3784: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments You'd have to open your jaw very wide to get a good bite on a person's neck if the fangs were as far back as normal canines. Not very practical unless your jaw unhinges...since the True Blood vamps don't morph facially, maybe that's why they did it.

new_user | 1389 comments LOL, Tara, I thought exactly the same thing about the names: Rhage, Wrath, Vishous, Darius...? He was doomed from the start.

Also, canines = eyeteeth = vampire fangs, as far as I know. LOL. They're all synonymous, but the fangs in True Blood are too close together.

Gems, I liked the first book of the A&O series, but the couple is together by the end of the book. I think the next book is just more adventure, LOL. So, not a romance series. Her characters are actually much more developed than a lot of UF. I like PNR for the same reasons though.

I kind of thought that was the point. Life was nothing special. It was lazy and relaxed. Now, when she leaves that lifestyle, the tempo picks up. It is like the first few chapters of Sookie Dead Until Dark.
