Pokelon | 16 comments I've started a new book this Sunday : Obsidian
Was a bit dissapointed by the ending of Library of Souls, the third tome of the Peculiar Children. It also took me a long time to finish, difficulties to get really into the story. Took me 10 days to read,,,,which in my case is really long. :)
Hope this new one will be better!

Karen ⚜Mess⚜ | 49 comments Reading The Good Daughter by Karin Slaughter I know it's not paranormal, but damn Slaughter is an excellent author. I think this is going to be best book of the year for me.

Also, reading A Blood Seduction (Vamp City, #1) by Pamela Palmer . So far I'm really liking this one.

The Good Daughter sounds heavy. Is there any love interest in it to lighten it up?

Karen ⚜Mess⚜ | 49 comments Denise Nanna wrote: "The Good Daughter sounds heavy. Is there any love interest in it to lighten it up?"

Not really. So far the only love interest is trying to get back with a husband.

message 37063: by Pokelon (new)

Pokelon | 16 comments No, there's not really any love story in there, except for the love between family members. It's a really great book though.

I'm interested to hear what you think of The Unleashing (Call of Crows, #1) by Shelly Laurenston I bought that one awhile ago but haven't started it yet

message 37071: by Timelord Iain (new)

Timelord Iain @Rachel: If you like any other Shelly Laurenston or GA Aiken book (same author), you'll like Calling of Crows... all her series have similar characters/humor...

The other series are Pride, and Dragon Kin...

I've been participating in the September reading challenge here, so I've been catching up on a ton of different series... other than the latest Stormlight Archive, October Daye, and In Death books I mentioned a few weeks ago, I've read:

Gemina (The Illuminae Files, #2) by Amie Kaufman A Dragon of a Different Color (Heartstrikers, #4) by Rachel Aaron Blade Bound (Chicagoland Vampires, #13) by Chloe Neill Bring the Heat (Dragon Kin, #9) by G.A. Aiken Down Among the Sticks and Bones (Wayward Children, #2) by Seanan McGuire

I've also read a few short stories:

Threnody for Little Girl, With Tuna, At the End of the World
The Recitation of the Most Holy and Harrowing Pilgrimage of Mindy and Also Mork
Of Things Unknown
Shark's Teeth

Currently Reading:

Babylon's Ashes (The Expanse, #6) by James S.A. Corey (audiobook), Grim Tides (Marla Mason, #6) by T.A. Pratt (kindle)

message 37075: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa | 7 comments So I have been off the PNR/UF wagon for some time and am back on board. I really struggle finding something I haven't read before and also liking it. (As a side note: it's my personal mission to find a library this weekend to get a card so I can check out ebooks and save money! Any very popular UF series I haven't read is just because I don't want to spend all the $$$ it takes to read them)

I took a chance on quite a few PNR reads this month that I didn't like, but also found a few winners!

Blood & Bone (Blood & Bone, #1) by C.C. Wood - 5 stars - PNR/Shifter - I took a chance on this and totally loved it. Review:
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Brothers of the Flame (An Ariel Kimber Novel) by Mary Martel - 4 stars - PNR/Reverse Harem - OK, I totally love RH and also love that they're trending right now. However, I think a lot of them aren't well done. I liked this one and am looking forward to more in the series! Only book 1 is out....so you know, it's lacking story resolution
Protector (Night War Saga #1) by Leia Stone & Defender (Night War Saga #2) by S.T. Bende - 3.5/4 stars - PNR/Norse Mythology. It's YA/NA. It's a little juvenile since it's for the younger crowd, but I found it entertaining. Book 3 comes out in October.

If anyone has any PNR/UF recommendations that are not well known, please send them my way!

And finally, next week, Unraveling Destiny (The Fae Chronicles, #5) by Amelia Hutchins is being released and I couldn't be more excited. I'll get so excited I'll probably read it in a day then be bummed it'll most likely be another 2 year wait for the last book to come out.

Alyssa | 7 comments PNR:
Mark of Truth (Wicked Kingdoms, #1) by Graceley Knox & Crown of Betrayal (Wicked Kingdoms Book 2) by Graceley Knox - 3 stars - (KU) So I feel like this a very solid attempt by a new indie author. I don't absolutely love it, but I also don't hate it. I'm a total Fae PNR junkie and I'll see this series through. I'm not sure if it will be a trilogy or longer.

Unraveling Destiny (The Fae Chronicles, #5) by Amelia Hutchins - 3 sad stars - This is one of my fav PNR series and have been waiting years for this one. My review is basically me having long-winded verbal diarrhea. I would totally discuss or buddy read this one with someone!

Celestine I just finished Unthinkable (Beyond Human, #1) by Nina Croft and moved straight to Unspeakable by Nina Croft . Each book is a new couple, but the main thread of the story runs in the background in cliffhanger style. The paranormal characters and situations are terrific.
