I absolutely LOVED this series! Its been so long since I read the 1st book, however, that I can't really remember the first few chapters, but so many people have said they didn't like the series because of it or never even got past the start because of them. I'm curious about what you think on your 2nd reading now...I've been debating on a reread myself.

message 35959: by ♥Lynn ♥ (new)

♥Lynn ♥ | 519 comments Would it make me sound really lame if I tell you I first read these books in 2007. I've reread them at least once a year. Some people have comfortable pair of shoes, I have comfortable books. Every year I have the same difficulty.

message 35960: by Cindi (new)

Cindi (ourtrumpcard) Aw Lynn, you make me feel like a book slacker! Especially since I complain about not having any of those 5 star series to start reading anymore...I DO have one to read :)

message 35961: by ♥Lynn ♥ (new)

♥Lynn ♥ | 519 comments 5 star reads are hard to find. I look back now and wish I didn't give certain books 5 stars. Do you visit your local library? Most are going to ebooks as well. My local library has more ebooks than actual books.

I don't rate books 5 stars often, I think they should be "life altering" or close :)
I have such a bad book habit that I HAD to start using my library almost exclusively or get a 2nd mortgage (not joking). I think we've got a fairly good amount of ebooks too, which I have finally become a convert of now that I have a Kindle Paperwhite so I can read in the dark at night :)

Christy (christy_kennedy) | 184 comments Finished The Winter King (The Kings, #8) by Heather Killough-Walden this morning, what a fantastic read!!! Hits the ground running and the characters and storytelling were exciting. Action packed and suspenseful, the epilogue was killer. Can't wait until the next in the Kings series. Now on to Midnight Marked (Chicagoland Vampires, #12) by Chloe Neill .

message 35971: by Jenny (new)

Jenny Schwartz (jenny_schwartz) Alicia, I had to look up the books. So glad I did! They look fun, and with great covers.

I'm not sure if you're Aussie, but our recently ex-prime minister was Tony Abbott ... that made me wonder if he'd written a book -- what a worrying idea!

message 35975: by Denise Nanna (last edited Mar 07, 2016 10:38AM) (new)

Denise Nanna | 1321 comments Finished and loved Midnight Marked (Chicagoland Vampires, #12) by Chloe Neill and cant believe how long we have to wait for the next (and final) book.

Also read Wake Me When the Sun Goes Down (Forged Bloodlines #1) by Lisa Olsen and Meet Me When the Sun Goes Down (Forged Bloodlines #2) by Lisa Olsen but I am not going to continue. Not enough happens and it was a little too much "will they, wont they" drama.

On to Apprentice in Death (In Death, #43) by J.D. Robb

message 35976: by Nidhi (new)

Nidhi Bhatt | 22 comments I just read Rise of the Fallen Rise of the Fallen (All the King's Men, #1) by Donya Lynne by Donya Lynne.

Its a book about Vampires and how there is a secret society called ALL THE KING'S MEN (AKM) who hire vampires and who act as protectors of human race and policing the other pnr races.

Fun book. Mating of Vampire and human. All tedious world building.

My review is 3 stars.

message 35990: by Jenny (new)

Jenny Schwartz (jenny_schwartz) Mandy, I definitely recommend the series, beginning with Written in Red It took me a little bit to adjust to the cutting, but the self-harm element is sensitively handled and vital to the story.

Denise, enjoy!

Shari, it's worth the lack of sleep, isn't it? :)

Crazy4More - happy library visit!

Taken by the Storm (Ontarian Chronicles, # 1) by Cyndi Friberg - I do not recommend this one. at all.
Drantos (VLG, #1) by Laurann Dohner - it was OK. Reviews of book 2 dont look great so I may hold off to read it until book 3, maybe
Grim (Tornians, #1) by M.K. Eidem recommend it! Overall good, some parts were a little trope-y. Again, reviews of books 2 and 3 are not good, so I'm in no rush to read the rest :-/

message 35995: by Jenny (new)

Jenny Schwartz (jenny_schwartz) Me, too, Shari! We shouldn't have to wait :) I'm going to re-read it while waiting for The Undoing (Call of Crows, #2) by Shelly Laurenston I'm so envious of those reading ARCs for it!

message 35996: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (myrippedbodice) | 1 comments Just finished Shards of Hope, and though I didn't quite feel the love story, it was still great, especially because of the back story. I've also read Dark Desires After Dusk and will read the next one Kiss of a Demon King soon. In between I'm reading A Gathering of Shadows, which doesn't draw me in as much as the first part. But I might just have to give it a chance.

message 36000: by Denise Nanna (new)

Denise Nanna | 1321 comments Finished Marked in Flesh (The Others, #4) by Anne Bishop and I am really sorry to say that this one had me bored most of the time. A lot of back and forth and I have a hard time keeping the towns and the characters straight because they are many. I really like Meg and Simon and I felt there was few interactions with them this time.
