I ♥ Bookie Nookie (bookienookiereviews.blogspot.com) (ibookienookie) Just finished Covet and I have to say...***cowering & hanging head*** it was not my favorite :-( Frankly, I was a little bored for the first 200 pages and the last 75ish pages.

I am now reading Lucinda, Darkly (Demon Princess Chronicles, #1) by Sunny Beyond the Highland Mist (Highlander, #1) by Karen Marie Moning

Interesting Cherra!!! I just got my copy of Covet, but going to try to hold off until I read Lover Avenged which should be getting here soon!!! Interested to hear what you think of Beyond the Highland Mist... I have that in my pile and was thinking of trying it soon....

Suz--I am a big fan of the BDB series--loved them all (Phury's book wasn't my favorite but still good). So I was sad that Covet didn't measure up :-(

Beyond the Highland Mist is really good so far--I am on chapter 16. Also loving Sunny's new series Lucinda, Darkly about 1/2 thru that one too.

Tina--maybe it was just the first book in a series thing. You know? Sometimes it takes me a bit to get going in the first book--but usually by the end I am totally sold or I walk away from the series. I have a while to think about continuing the series before the next book comes out, but right now, I am still on the fence. I would give it a go if I were you because there are so many who totally love, love, love it.

I ♥ Bookie Nookie (bookienookiereviews.blogspot.com) (ibookienookie) Any opinions about the Magic Bites series or the Succubus On Top series?

I didn't really care for it at all. I had a really hard time wiht how they constantly refered to Hawk as the Hawk! I just couldn't stand it! I did hear the series gets better so I may try another someday. Let us know what you think.

Hey, I'm reading the first book in the Mortal Insturment series right know, I'm just over half way. I was just wondering what you thought of the first book in the series, so far I really like it, and is the second one as good so far?

message 3565: by Kelly (last edited Oct 08, 2009 06:04PM) (new)

Kelly | 144 comments I just picked it up from the library tonight. I really did enjoy the first one. I think a 12-13 year old would super love it. I have read so many mixed reviews. I want to tell each and every person that gives a YA book a bad review to read it and review it thru the eyes of a YA. Was it my fav no but it was entertaining and I want to read the 2nd so that is good in my book. Jace has me hooked! I actually just gave it to my babysitter she is 13 I can't wait to see what she thinks.

Oh ya me too, I love Jace, I think he's a great character. Thanks for letting me know what you thought, and I agree I think that a young teen would really like it.

FlibBityFLooB I'm reading No Rest for the Witches right now. The Maryjanice Davidson story was okay, but I'm really struggling with the others in this anthology :(

If it weren't going to count for my challenge, I would think about abandoning... Anyone else read this?

I am almost finished with The first highlander book and I really like it. Kelly--it is funny how something like "the hawk" can ruin the story for you. I am the same way, but I didn't even notice that until you said that and now, everytime i read "the hawk" I find myself wondering...now why does she do that-that is a little annoying. I felt the same way with the BDB series by JR Ward with Vischous and the way he always says: "true" at the end of almost every sentence. I found myself constantly re-reading the sentence b/c I thought it was a stupid quirk. But I loved all the brotherhood books so much I was able to forgive this annoying little habit--as I am able to forgive Moning for calling her lovely highlander "the Hawk" because he is so yummy, sexy, delicious, do-able...need I go on?

Susan (Suz) (sharney) | 253 comments Cherra wrote: "Any opinions about the Magic Bites series or the Succubus On Top series? "

Cherra - I have read the first 2 of the Kate Daniels series and i personally would say it's strictly UF and from that perspective it's good. I think I personally prefer a little more sexual tension in my books so for me it's a bit boring in that regard, but I like the world that she creates and I like her shifters.... So it's good when/if you need/want a break from all the romance/sex filled books :)

I'm reading Night Embrace by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I'm starting to get into her series and writing style. It's a little hard after reading the Black Dagger series.

Hi Trina! I had a hard time finding a good series after BDB too. I looked at your read list and I didn't see a few good series I have read that are as good as BDB--I thought I would make a few suggestions:

Kiss of Midnight--the Midnight Breed series is a similar story line to BDB. secret warrior society/ save the world/find love/with a back story that links all the books.

Mona Lisa Awakening--the Monere Children of the Moon series--one of my new favorites. Sunny also has a spin off series that starts with Lucinda, Darkly.

Halfway to the Grave--the night huntress series--also one of my favorites.

Dead Until Dark--the southern vampire series--another one of my faves!

I ♥ Bookie Nookie (bookienookiereviews.blogspot.com) (ibookienookie) DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THE FOLLOWING SERIES NEED TO BE READ IN ORDER?

The Highlander series by Karen Marie Moning starts with Beyond the Highland Mist?

The Nightwalkers series by Jacquelyn Frank starts with Jacob?
