Does anyone have any thoughts on the Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning? I've never read anything by her, but I've been thinking about it."

Tara, I think the Fever series is great, out of all the books I've read this year I keep going back to that one! BUT book 4 ends in the worst cliffhanger. It's really driving me crazy.. I'm recommending it it my friends but not until the last book comes out next year.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Heidi, do you know what the release date/name of the last book is?

message 3405: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidimar) | 10 comments I know it's called Shadowfever and I only know it's not out til 2010.. no official release date *bangs head on wall*

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish OK, thank you. I want to read the series, but I'm so OCD it's best if I wait for it to end first. I should read the Highlander series first, right?

Michelle Gilmore I'm reading Fire Study by Maria V. Snyder. It's the third installment in the study series. Fire Study (Study, #3) by Maria V. Snyder

Me too! I think Fire Study is the last :O( However, I'll be sure to start her Glass series.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Fire study is the last, but did you know, on her website she has some short stories revolving around Valek and Yelena? Also, she said she plans to revisit them at some time, though not sure when.

The Glass books are good as well.

There's group here called Study Buddies that Maria visits frequently, and my daughters attended a book signing with her and she was fabulous.

Study Buddies? I'll have to visit their page. I just tried to access one of the short stories on her website and couldn't. But, I'll keep trying, thanks for the info!! You just made my day, you have no idea! Good for your daughter! I'd love to go to a book signing if there was one in my area.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish YAY! I love it when I make someone happy :)

Sign up for her newsletters. She sends her shorts out that way too. Well, not her shorts... her short stories. LOL

The books signing was awesome. It was a poison tasting, too. My daughter won the UK Version Study Series set, signed... Maria signed them right there while she waited, made out right to Melissa, my daughter. It was a Storm Glass signing, and she signed everyone's books and wrote great notes to each person.

On her website, she has a way for you to get a signed copy of her book free. Just refer 5 people, have those 5 people email her telling her that you referred them and that's it. Check the site for more details. That's how I got a signed copy of Storm Glass.

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments I'm finally reading Destined for an Early Grave. I'm not one to get shocked easily, but the nasty comments being hurled between Cat and Bones have me fairly gaping. Drama to the max!

Ana (smackdownqueen) | 22 comments Hey Quinnmc79! The Wally Lamb book is slow in the beginning but I think it really does eventually pick up regarding interesting factor and heart wrenching story. I would encourage you to continue with it a bit longer.

Also, I really like him as author because I think he and Oprah had falling out. I am not much of Oprah fan.

Ana

Ana (smackdownqueen) | 22 comments Lina_mp,

Welcome 2 the grp. I really enjoy reading the interchange between the members. I get leads on good PNR without the embarrasment of discussing it with my friends who are scientist. I am a scientist and I get some wierd looks regarding my reading selection. I have cloth bookcovers to cover all my books such that I do not have to explain my selection to anyone.

With that said, I am just glad that goodreads has affored me this outlet. I hope you enjoy the ride.

Pegah (nightowl) | 9 comments Just started readying: Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1)by Jeaniene Frost last night and WOW it's really good, just about half way though already, think I'm going to be addicted to this series!

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 49 comments Hi everyone,

I am new to this group.
Pegah, I read the Night Huntress serie and it is a great one. Since book three it took a different direction but I think it is for the better.

I am looking for a few suggestions. I read the obvious Black Dagger Broderhood and really loved it. The Carpatians were not my cup of tea really, too much on the self pity party for my taste even if the story is engaging.

Any good serie I should get into? (aside from the dark hunter ones because i've read them all).

Oh and Ana, I have the same problem as you have...my friends are not understanding me either about my reading choices.

This will be fun!

Precious

Tara | 596 comments Ana, Precious, it's the same here. My friends turn up their noses in that judge-y way about my reading choices, I'm glad I found goodreads too! (wow, sorry that sounded like an infomercial! LOL)

PS Where do you get those book covers?

You know, Lora Leigh has had a rough year, with her divorce and all, but this story is better written than Bengal's Heart , which I felt was weak, and better than Heat Seeker which didn't grab me either.

So far, the editing is good, the writing good, the sex... **clearing throat** better than average... and that's only on the first page... JUST KIDDING!

I'm about half way through. I'll let you know when I'm done what I thought. I have so many books to read that I don't know if I will read all the shorts in this book, but will get to them eventually.

The books I REALLY want from her is Lion's Heat, Jonas and Rachel's story.

message 3429: by Heather (new)

Heather | 10 comments Hi all! I'm new to paranormal romance and unfortunatley I feel like I started with the best, who else but The Brotherhood!! I've been thru a couple trying to kill time until Covet with pretty much no real luck...I keep comparing everything to my boys and to Ward's exceptional writing style and am now reading the Nightwalker's series by Jacquelyn Frank. I'm on the third book Elijah and am loving it!! Has anyone else read them and enjoyed them? I'm loving the Demons as much as the Vamps which I didn't think would be possible. The books have saved my life waiting for Covet and Lover Mine!

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish I read all the Nighwalker books and have the first of the Shadowdwellers to read, but so many other books keep coming up.

I really liked Nighwalkers, with the exception of one thing that bugged the heck out of me... exotic milk. I just can't get past that, and thankfully she stopped mentioning it in later books.
Isn't it funny how certain things can really turn you off? But not enough to keep reading the series. :)

message 3431: by Heather (new)

Heather | 10 comments OMG that's sooo funny! I feel the same way. Like eewww giraffe milk. I kept having this feeling like yeah but how are you getting the milk?!! LOL I've bought the first 2 for her other series also. I agree everytime I visit you guys here I see 10 other books to look up and try. A wonderful dillema!

message 3432: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish (last edited Sep 28, 2009 10:37AM) (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Wonderful indeed!

It was funny because in other books authors describe wine, champagne... all with lovely and deep, rich colors and scents and it makes my mouth water. Then when she tried to describe the exotic milk that way I was like.. ewwwwwwww.

message 3433: by Heather (new)

Heather | 10 comments Yeah and I got the feeling it was served dare I say it, warm. Ughhh

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish UGH UGH UGH!!! Exactly.... ewwwwwwwwwww!!!

I hope the Shadowdwellers drink something less... lesss..... I can't even think of the word... less from animals?

message 3435: by Heather (new)

Heather | 10 comments Absoulutely. I'm not quite sure yet what they are,you know their "base" nature but I guess now that I think about it if you are part animal your going to like that oogie stuff right?

message 3436: by Adrienne (last edited Sep 28, 2009 11:48AM) (new)

Adrienne Haven't read Shadowdwellers or Nightwalkers. But I am reading Edge Of Hunger and I just wanted to tell everyone how good it is!! seriously! its different to most PNR I've read the hero changes (well he will do eventually) into something called a Merrick and is being hunted by a Casus but at the moment doesn;t know why. I'm only on page 95 but so far we've had some really hot feverish scenes (think dreamlike gypsey camps and lush firelit bedrooms)and a murder plus some psychic activity. The hero and heroine are both really likeable. The lush writting style is wonderful too!

I absolutely loved this series. I can't wait until her next set comes out next year. I think she turns out three at a time. I mean one a month for three months.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Ok, A Christmas Kiss from the Hot for the Holidays anthology was actually a pretty good story. It was sexy and sweet and I was glad to see Hawke and Jessica resolved.

There was nothing there to further propel the overall plot of the Breeds series, which is the way it is in most anthologies, but it was still a well written, sweet story.

message 3440: by Heather (new)

Heather | 10 comments Hey Adrienne thanks for the tip...will check those out when I'm done with these. Sounds really good!!

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Thanks, Adrienne. I added it to my ever-growing-out-of-control TBR shelf.

message 3444: by Nita (new)

Nita (gillnit) I finished up Covet (Fallen Angels, #1) by J.R. Ward . I really liked it. Jim is a great character.
Now I am going to read a straight up fantasy, The Dragonbone Chair (Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn, #1) by Tad Williams .

message 3446: by Nita (new)

Nita (gillnit) Jessica - I was extremely lucky and was first on the list at my library. I was actually pretty surprised when I got the email saying it was in for me.

message 3447: by Jessica (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish I had Covet almost 2 weeks early. WalMart had it. It was amazing. The excerpt from LoverMine in the back was worth the entire cost of the book.
