Christine | 1127 comments Listening to Die for Me (Revenants, #1) by Amy Plum which is pretty good so far. I'm about to find out what the mystery guy is, so we'll see how I feel after the big reveal.

In print, I'm reading Geist (Book of the Order, #1) by Philippa Ballantine which I'm enjoying, but I wish the author could have explained a few things in more detail. I've got the main plot down, but there are some world building questions that keep nagging me.

I thought Four was just okay. I'm not really a big fan of Four's character and I was very disappointed in Allegiant so I think that's the reason I didn't love it. I think if you liked Allegiant or Four's character then you'll probably love the book.

I was really enjoying it up until the main character went kind of Bella in Twilight on me. (view spoiler)

But other than that I'm enjoying the story and I'm intrigued by the whole concept of Revenants.

message 33666: by Christine (new)

Christine | 1127 comments Finished Geist (Book of the Order, #1) by Philippa Ballantine . This is one that definitely gets better the further you go in the book. The author just drops you into her world and you kind of have to fend for yourself for a while until you figure out what's going on. But once the plot finally kicked in, it was really good.

Next up, The Siege of Macindaw (Ranger's Apprentice, #6) by John Flanagan

message 33667: by Shuling (last edited Jul 21, 2014 11:02AM) (new)

Shuling I kinda give up on YA after so much disappointment so I'm giving it a rest and move back and am halfway through what the bookstore considers as children's book Skulduggery Pleasant (Skulduggery Pleasant, #1) by Derek Landy . Surprisingly, the 12-year-old girl is much more capable than half the heroines in nowadays YA books.

Lots of CR on shelf...

How's Dark Bites (Dark-Hunterverse short stories) by Sherrilyn Kenyon ??? I've read the latest, Styx. Don't know if it's worth going back to read short stories.

There were several old stories and some new. Overal it was interesting to revisit the world before the next book comes out. And it shed light on the Styx and Bethany, how they found each other before.

Denise Nanna | 1321 comments Finally finished Written in My Own Heart's Blood (Outlander, #8) by Diana Gabaldon . It felt slower than some of the series' books but I still loved it.

message 33672: by Fallon (new)

Fallon (fallonvale) | 255 comments Finally Finished The Immortal Crown (Age of X, #2) by Richelle Mead it took me awhile to get back in to the story, but overall it was enjoyable. Also read The Mark of the Dragonfly by Jaleigh Johnson which my son read snippets of as well, and he randomly quotes something from, which is fun and confusing at times. Started listening to City of Glass (The Mortal Instruments, #3) by Cassandra Clare which I can't get in to. I've not listened to any of the books before, so I am going to give it a shot. I have a stack of books so I have no idea which one will call to me.

message 33677: by Irene (new)

Irene (irenemikhaylova) | 478 comments Finished reading Masters of Seduction (Masters of Seduction, #1-4) by Lara Adrian and three out of four short stories I liked very much, mostly because there were strong story lines (however short they were :) ). Also finished reading Dusk with a Dangerous Duke (Lords of Vice, #6) by Alexandra Hawkins - it was nice. Also re-read The Gatekeeper (The Keepers L.A., #0.5) by Heather Graham and proceeded to reading Keeper of the Night (The Keepers L.A. #1) by Heather Graham and Keeper of the Moon (The Keepers L.A. #2) by Harley Jane Kozak - it does make me a bit itchi that noone believes on the girls and have lots of prejudice about them and their abilities. Also finished re-reading Trust Me by Jayne Ann Krentz .

Listening to Taming an Impossible Rogue (Scandalous Brides, #2) by Suzanne Enoch and Nightwalker (Dark Days, #1) by Jocelynn Drake . Finishing reading Sharp Edges by Jayne Ann Krentz for the challenge.

I did Dragonfly in Amber through audio, it was good, but I like the character's and the sense of them in my own head soooo much better. I have imagined them so thoroughly that I don't want another's influence to ruin it for me. I have even decided to not watch the Outlander Series on Starz until book #9 is released. I may buy those on dvd when the time comes (maybe, you know, with creative license and all)
