Julie | 1 comments I started reading Keri Arthur's Riley Jenson series this week and cannot stop. By nature I have issues with leaving a plotline unfinished, a heroine being romantically unfulfilled, if you will. The great thing about getting into a series when it is so far in, is that I don't have to deal with that pesky impatience to find out what happens next. Riley is somewhat...unusual, for a leading women. While most PN books I've read lately have the puny love triangle going on, Riley has the whole enchilada. Although it's a little too much too handle at times, so God help me, I am enthralled.

Good luck with Laurel K. Hamilton. After her fifth book, the Anita Blake character turned into someone I could no longer identify with.

Try Lara Adrian, Kerrelyn Sparks and Amanda Ashley. I read Lara Adrian's Ashes of Midnight in a day, it was that good.

Also, I write paranormal stories. I am looking for someone willing to read my story and give me an honest evaluation.

Interested?

I am a Lara Adrian fan. I've read all of her books and loved each one. I am now into Kerrelyn Sparks The Undead Next Door.

No. I'm relatively new to this website and don't know all the ins yet. If you're interested, I would love to send the Prologue to you. Just send me a personal note with your email and I will send it to you.

Hi Paige, here is the first book in each of my favorite PNR series:

[image error] Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning [image error] Kiss of Midnight (Midnight Breed, #1) by Lara Adrian

If you are looking for more Young Adult, some of my favorites are:

[image error] Blue Bloods (Blue Bloods, #1) by Melissa de la Cruz
Then, of-course, the Twilight series is the one that started the whole vampire/PNR craze for me. I loved it when I read it, but looking back, I have read so many more that are better. I would still recommend it if you haven't read it.

Yeah I know what you mean Linda!!! But there is just something about the series that makes me keep reading, even tho most of the time Anita is annoying the crap out of me LOL, LOL Maybe it's all the other characters that I have gotten to like....

The one character I miss reading about is Jean-Claude. He was a plotting SOB but he was loyal in how he felt about Anita. Wish the same could be said for Anita. Is there a bed she hasn't been in since the whole 'two at sex is good but three is better' started. I guess Laurel Hamilton was having PMS moments when she was writing her later books.

message 3262: by Desiree (last edited Sep 15, 2009 07:30PM) (new)

Desiree Just started [image error] ... So far so good, I'm still waiting to get 'hooked', but so far everything and everyone is developing nicely...so I just finished up with Destined for an Early Grave (Night Huntress, #4) by Jeaniene Frost a few weeks ago and so far not much has compared :)

I'll be curious to see what you think of it. I couldn't get through it - too many horse genitalia comparisons for me, but if someone could convince me of the book's greatness, I might try it again.

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 737 comments Paige wrote: "Hello there. I just started to get into paranormal romance books, and I don't know what to read first. Any suggestions???"

You've had several suggestions given already, a mix of both PNR and UF, but for straight PNR I would recommend the genre favorites of J.R. Ward and Sherrilyn Kenyon

I ♥ Bookie Nookie (bookienookiereviews.blogspot.com) (ibookienookie) Anyone have any opinion about Mona Lisa Awakening Mona Lisa Awakening (Monère, Book 1) by Sunny ?

I picked it up a while ago and then I had to return to the library before I could read it. I recently ordered it again and I was just curious what you all might think about it. It sounds ok to me, but it comes up on a lot of lists.

Right now I'm reading Dead in Dixie by Charlain Harris and Nightwalker by Heather Graham.

message 3269: by Nita (new)

Nita (gillnit) I am still reading The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan . I also plan on starting Dark Slayer (Carpathians, #20) by Christine Feehan . I am taking a 12 hour train ride today, so I browsed through my library system's playaways to listen to once it gets dark. Unfortunately they only had a couple pnr or urban fantasy, which I have already read. I have a craving for some Austen, so I picked Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen .

I read it and really enjoyed it. Just know, though, that it leans more toward paranormal erotica than it does paranormal romance. Also there are situations/instances of attempted rape. However, those situations are fully explained in the book and happen for a reason and are not just thrown in there just for the hell of it.

message 3280: by Fiona (Titch) (last edited Sep 18, 2009 02:58PM) (new)

Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) About to read Succubus in the City - Nina Harper.

Lily has what looks like the perfect life: a fabulous day job at a fashion magazine; a killer figure she can literally never lose; and a great group of girlfriends who are always there for her. Oh, and she also just-so-happens to be a succubus: an immortal demon who draws her power from other men's pleasure. Although working for the Devil does have it's perks, Lily's realising that serving up bad boys to the fiery pits of Hell is just getting ...well, lonely. Just once, Lily would like to wake up in the morning to something more than a pile of ashes but, contractually bound to Satan, she will only be released if someone truly loves her. Then the devilishly handsome PI Nathan Coleman enters her life and Lily begins to wonder if he might be the man she's been waiting for. He wants to ask Lily a few questions about a missing man, but suddenly someone - or something - wants Lily and her demon friends dead, and Nathan seems to know more than he'll admit to. Can a sweet-talking mortal and a girl from Hell ever really find true love?

Hmm, I can see why you'd recommend this book, it looks like you helped write it. I'm assuming you're Allan Gass since you live in St. Cloud, MN, a quick google search found your facebook page. There's a better way to self-promote than to post your "review" on a bunch of random boards.

FlibBityFLooB I started the audiobook version of A Kiss of Shadows (Meredith Gentry, #1). I've just switched to the book version and was reading along.

I realized that the way the audiobook reader pronounced Sidhe was like the word SHE. Is this how you pronounce Sidhe? I would never have known!

message 3299: by Gems (new)

Gems (zadien) | 134 comments FlibBityFLooB - Sidhe is pronounced She - Bean Sidhe is Banshee. Welcome to Irish, we pronounce things is new and extraordinary ways. DH is always silent and Si is always She, the actual irish word for She is Sí. Sé for He is pronounced Shay (I don't quite get it myself)

And Levi - Halfway to the Grave does live up to the Hype in my opinion - it's a really good series and well worth a read or two or three.
