Eyes Like Stars (The Théâtre Illuminata: Act 1)
by Lisa Mantchev - This book was all over the place, but I really liked the characters and wanted to know what was going to happen with them. The ending was a bit of a cliff hanger, but I guess the "Act 1" portion of the title should have tipped me off to that.
Lament: The Faerie Queen's Deception
by Maggie Stiefvater - I love Luke! I think the other guys name is James, he's sweet and fun too, the kind of friend that you would want to have. From the very beginning you suspect that Deirdra's home life is a little screwy, but closer to the end, you discover that you had no idea how messed up her family is. To say that this book had a cliff hanger ending is an astronomical understatement, I am very excited for the release of Ballad: The Gathering of Faerie, which is this books sequel. This book I borrowed from my local library, it and the sequel are both on my "to buy" list.
Warning: This is marketed to the young adult audience, I would proceed with caution due to some of the language and a few intense sexually themed scenes. This does not make it bad, just a cautionary statement.
I also identify quite well with the author, after having read her bio, it give me hope that there is a place in this world for corporate misfits such as myself.
Lover Avenged by J.R. Ward - So much happened in this book. If you have not read the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, it is a must in the paranormal genre. The books are action packed, the world is a very rich and complex world, and the characters are outstanding, especially the yummy men! There is nothing wrong with a great complex story line and some "mental" eye candy all rolled into one!
Blood Promise (Vampire Academy #4) by Richelle Mead - I like this series quite a bit. Largely due to Rose and her rebellious ways. This time I think Rose really learned something from her quest. I don't remember being as excited for the next book in this series, but it is defiantly a "to read" and the whole series is a "to buy".
Finally, what I am actually reading now is Incubus Dreams by Laurel K. Hamilton, anyone who has read my posts before knows how much I adore LKH. She is an author that most either love or hate. Her heroine's have multiple male partners and there is a lot of sex. Some think that the sex is completely out of place, I disagree as I think that it is a huge component of both Merry (descended from, is it five or six?, fertility goddesses)and Anita (poor morally frustrated Anita; trying to deny the ardeur, which basically lends her to being a succubus, does it not?). There is a lot of sex and really yummy men and worlds that are very much like ours, just way more interesting.
Once I finish Incubus Dreams, I owe my book about a weeks worth of work and then it's back to reading. Who am I kidding, I can't not read, I will just have to get an earlier start on my book so that I also still have time to read!

its really good so far, exactly like the movie, which i love! :)

Sammy you are so lucky to be reading Outlander. It is my favorite book of all time. Good Reads also has a Outlander group. so if you have any comments questions to share check it out. One word for you Jamie....

I am also at the moment in the middle of The reader by Bernhard Schlink, but it's being a drag to read if i'm being honest.
I am also reading the host - by stephenie meyer, and was wondering if it was just me, or is it really hard to get into the story? has anyone read/is reading it, and now's if it gets better?
Next on my list to try is also Evermore by Alyson Noel .. anybody read it?
x

Levi--I loved the House of Night series too--Tempted is out next month. I read the reader and it was a total drag--blah, blah, blah, blah...I gave it 2 stars and I think I was being generous with that only b/c it got rave reviews. When I got to the end I was like: really all that for this ending.
As for Evermore, I couldn't get into it. Have you read the Blue bloods series? 1st book is Blue Bloods. It is pretty good. The Summoning is pretty good too--it is like xmen with teenagers.

check it out and let me know if you think that was a proper comparison

Oh love that series Michelle! I hope you like it!!!!

Levi I too love the House of Night series!!! Can't wait for Tempted to release next month!!
As for the Host, it took me about halfway through the book before it really sucked me in!! It definitely starts out slow but I think if you keep at it you will not be disappointed!!!

Was it just me or did Outlander take a while to get into? I also hate to admit it, but i didn't understand some of the book. I quit after I was 90+ pages in :/

Yes, keep reading. The other stories are good too.

I read the Host, and I did not like it...it was really slow in the beginning, it got better towards the end, after I was sucked into it!!!

It's taken me a few chapters, but its starting to get more interesting.

I think Morrigan's Cross is slow, but I love the complete trilogy. My fave is the last book, and I adore Cian.

That's good to know. I've read a few more chapters and felt that it was slowing down again and was debating on putting it back in my TBR pile. I'll give it a few more chapters. I've heard good things about this series, and I guess I just want to hurry up and get to the good part.

Right now I'm reading Rogue by Rachel Vincent, Fool Moon by Jim Butcher, and Holy Smokes by Katie MacAlister

i would have to say they nearly top Twilight for me =)

Cherra I just finished that books this morning and LOVED IT!!!! Oh my gosh it just sucked me from like page 1 I swear and wouldn't let go! I was laughing, then I was crying, then I was laughing again! Definitely LOVE Cat & Bones!

I really enjoyed City of Bones, to the point where after I finished I ran to B&N to pick up City of Ashes. This one I have been reading for almost a week and am only a little more than halfway. I'm struggling with it. This is the first time I've read a YA novel where I really could tell it was written for kids. The juvenile writing is really starting to grate on me, and I really wish Clare would stop trying so hard to be funny. She does not have a career as a sitcom writer in her future.
So I've been pretty disappointed with this book, but I'm trying to plug along.

Also, I have to say that this is really making me want to read The Legend of Sleepy Hollow now.

LOL, I did too, I went out and bought all three because the copy of city of bones I had was from the library.

There..." thanks sammy! i think i will go with addicted--Brandy S suggested it originally and I have been on a vamp kick for a while, so I will switch it up!
How did outlander turn out? I saw you were concerned with some of the material...

Thanks NU--you are saying the 1st one isnt the best in the series?

Thanks NU--you are saying the 1st one isnt the best in the series?"
Yeah, I think it's probably the weakest in the series because NS had not mapped out an overall plot for the Pack yet. I believe she commented that she had not known that she was going to create a series when she first wrote the book (which is true for a lot of authors, I would think.) The other books are more layered with more characters and storylines, a wee bit like the BDB books (although they're not similar in any other way, LOL). :)

sounds good. i am probably going to read that one last of the 3 i mentioned b/c i tend to get wrapped up in series books and read them straight thru. I had to take a break from the the midnight breed series--Ashes of Midnight, which is not normal for me.
and I love he BDB series so if it is at all similar, that will be a bonus for me! thanks for the info!
