Amac | 39 comments Started reading the Demonica series by Larissa Ione.
I just started the third: Desire Unchained (Demonica, #2) by Larissa Ione

Book 1 was decent, book 2 was better but I was confused on why Shade's 'gift' of releasing one's darkness was done by utilizing his, uh, cave room --huh? Overall, I like the world it's set in so far. None of the characters stand out so far except the 'Were' Luc and Keynan and Gem. Hope their stories continue.

I'm reading book 2 right now and I had the exact same thought about Shade and his "special room." I did not get that at all, lol. It seemed like the author was trying to find a way to insert BDSM without making Shade out to be too dominate. But isn't that the point of BDSM?

Belkis (bminaya) | 861 comments Finished Everneath (Everneath, #1) by Brodi Ashton and really enjoyed it. Now rereading Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward YAY WRATH!

I liked this series, but it kind of bugged me that in every single book there was some sexual hangup or problem with one of the lead characters.

message 32407: by Christine (new)

Christine | 1127 comments I'm listening to Fate's Edge (The Edge, #3) by Ilona Andrews . I'm really enjoying it, but Caldar just isn't as fun and interesting as I thought he would be.

Amac | 39 comments Rachel wrote: "It seemed like the author was trying to find a way to insert BDSM without making Shade out to be too dominate. But isn't that the point of BDSM? "

Exactly, it seemed forced in there. I don't particularly subscribe to BDSM but I know enough to know that seemed off.

Christine wrote: "I liked this series, but it kind of bugged me that in every single book there was some sexual hangup or problem with one of the lead characters."

This. There's other stuff about the demon brother's species that bugs me, but maybe the sexual hang ups are unique to the demon brothers and that bit of the relationship arch goes away in the LOD books.

As far as I'm concerned, there isn't a bad book in this series. It's killing me to wait until August for Dark Skys - and it's already further up the bestseller chart than mine!

I felt the same way Denise. I was really disappointed in this book.

I've anxiously been awaiting a book 5 ... but haven't heard any rumblings of one. My favorite by far was Kaldar's book, Fate's Edge (The Edge, #3) by Ilona Andrews

message 32414: by Sillylittlefishey (new)

Sillylittlefishey | 1025 comments I finished my advance copy of A Fatal Slip by Meg London , it was decent for a cozy mystery.

Irene (irenemikhaylova) | 478 comments Finished reading Libriomancer (Magic Ex Libris, #1) by Jim C. Hines - very interesting and fresh idea, but battle on the moon in this setting was an overkill for me :) ;) And finished listening to Mine to Possess (Psy-Changeling, #4) by Nalini Singh - cool as usual!

Started reading White Witch, Black Curse (The Hollows, #7) by Kim Harrison .

message 32418: by ♥ Ashleigh ♥ (new)

♥ Ashleigh ♥ Contrary to popular belief I'm not actually mad! (cheshire_red) finished Stormdancer (The Lotus War, #1) by Jay Kristoff , was pretty good but i ended up rating it only 3.5 stars. mainly being that i went in knowing little about the Japanese culture and had to spend half the book looking up words in google which i found somewhat tiresome. loved Buruu and Yukiko. the world was pretty incredible as well, in a bad way. lol.

also finished When She Woke by Hillary Jordan have to say im highly surprised by how much i ended up enjoying this book, i was concerned i was going to hate it with how much religion is involved in it, but after i got past maybe the first 1/4 - 1/3 i had trouble putting the book down. i love how the characters changes and grows, by the end of the book she was nothing like how she was at the start, and she really was incredible. so brave and considerate of others. i'll deff being looking for more books by thi author.

I'm pretty sure there are no plans for a book five in the series. But I would love to see George and Jack each get a book some day. *sigh*

Christine | 1127 comments I started Through the Ever Night (Under the Never Sky, #2) by Veronica Rossi but just wasn't feeling it, so I picked up Unlawful Contact (I-Team, #3) by Pamela Clare instead and am so happy I did. It's so good.

In audio, I'm listening to Unlawful Contact (I-Team, #3) by Pamela Clare which is jammed packed with action and is so much fun to listen to. "In real life, vampires only sparkle when they're on fire." Love that line.

I know the feeling. I just listened to the entire series through December and the beginning of January, and I'm going through withdrawal. Plus, I feel like she left more things hanging in this one than in the previous ones.

message 32441: by Christine (new)

Christine | 1127 comments I finished Monster Hunter Vendetta (MHI, #2) by Larry Correia and moved on to Monster Hunter Alpha (MHI, #3) by Larry Correia only to find that this book has shifted to the POV of a different character and so far doesn't include any of my favorite characters from the first two books. But still, it's pretty good so far, and maybe a the change in POV and setting will keep the series fresh in a back-to-back read.

These Violent Delights (Robin) I'm almost done with First Drop of Crimson (Night Huntress World, #1) by Jeaniene Frost and I love it!!!!

Funny thing - just started listening to The Restorer (Graveyard Queen, #1) by Amanda Stevens . Finishing listening to Etiquette & Espionage (Finishing School, #1) by Gail Carriger - I simply adore the narrator, she does a great job!

In the middle of White Witch, Black Curse (The Hollows, #7) by Kim Harrison - I hope Rachel kills the one who's responsible for Kisten's murder... slowly... painfully Though I have a sneaking suspicion he's out of her league :(

Forcing myself to keep reading Ender's Game (The Ender Quintet, #1) by Orson Scott Card - hate what they do to kids. The only reason I read it - to think of what I would have done in his place.

Started reading Life Before Legend (Legend, #0.5) by Marie Lu even though I didn't like Legend (Legend, #1) by Marie Lu very much just to get some background info on both of them - maybe at some point I will read the rest of them.
