Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
Oh man. Beautiful story. And perfect for this time of the season as the weather is changing. You can feel the breath of winter on the back of your neck.

I've been going back and forth about whether I wanted to check this out or not and you've pushed it into the want to read pile for me. Thanks!

Tina | 130 comments I'm reading Succubus On Top by Richelle Mead. There are so many Mead fans in this group, I decided to give her a shot. This is a good author recommendation.

message 3054: by Cassidy (new)

Cassidy Savage (savagegy6) I'm in the middle of Mr. Darcy, Vampyre and really enjoying it. It's not heavy on the vampire side but weird things are happening so far and it's really focused on their romance and how he's dealing with the secret of what he is. I recommend it. :)

message 3055: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (shinhbang) | 152 comments Well, I just recently finished "Sins of the Night" by Sherrilyn Kenyon today.

message 3056: by Gems (new)

Gems (zadien) | 134 comments I'm currently reading Stray - which so far seems good but the voice is lacking some originality which seems to be a common occurance in first POV narration. Other than that it's entertaining.

message 3057: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Orlich Ahern (kittymeowxcore) | 97 comments Just finished Dreamfever by Karen Marie Moning, and am going back to my Sherrilyn Kenyon series. I love it when I jump into an arleady established series. I'm just about to start Acheron :)

message 3058: by Mio (new)

Mio | 3 comments I just finished "Blood Promise" by Richelle Mead and it was pretty great, but a little less what I hoped for it to be, but still nice to have progress in the series

I'm reading it too and it's a slow read for me, I just can't really bring myself to charge through it like the last three books. It's lacking something (or someone) and that's getting to me.

message 3060: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (ccp981) I just finished Cerulean Sins by LKH and I am 21 pages in on Eyes Like Stars by Lisa Mantchev. I love Laurell, I am thrilled that Anita gets to keep both Asher and Jean-Claude. I hear a lot of kick back from fans about how slutty Anita and Merry are with all of their respective men, but quite honestly, if I could get away with it emotionally and socially - I would totally have a harem of men! I guess I am twisted enough to not be put off by all of the sex and blood.
Eyes Like Stars I am not that deep into yet, but the premise is interesting.

message 3061: by Kyle (new)

Kyle Borland (kgborland) I'm reading Stray by Rachel Vincent

message 3062: by Lea (new)

Lea (ladybirdsong) | 9 comments Just started Blood Promise!! Been looking forward to this book for awhile now, hope it doesn't disapoint...

message 3063: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (stephanie_julian) | 108 comments I'm planning to pick up Bad Moon Rising tonight. For some reason I've been putting it off. The last few books I've read just haven't done it for me.

message 3064: by Kyle (new)

Kyle Borland (kgborland) just started Ill wind...finished stray last night it was really good.

message 3065: by Gems (new)

Gems (zadien) | 134 comments Reading Rogue by Rachel Vincent now.

I ♥ Bookie Nookie (bookienookiereviews.blogspot.com) (ibookienookie) Ok, so I started the Merry Gentry Series to see what all the fuss was about and I was disappointed with the speed of the 1st book...and the 2nd. The 3rd started to get a little better and by that time, I just wanted to know the outcome of all the little mysteries, so I read the 4th. I am glad I did it was better than the first 3 because it didn't go into over explaining court politics in the land of the fae and past history that was part necessary, but mostly unnecessary. I just started #5 Mistral's Kiss (Meredith Gentry, #5) by Laurell K. Hamilton

message 3067: by Cindyg (new)

Cindyg (brotherlover) | 98 comments Carla, I so agree with you about Anita and Merry. What girl won't love a harem of hot men!

Carla--I am not sure what all the fuss is about with Merry Gentry and the sex--up until Book 3 she didn't have a lot of sex. They talked about how she was supposed to be having sex more than she actually had it.

message 3069: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 208 comments I am almost done A caress of Twilight the second Merry book. It's ok for me I still like Anita better, but both Anita and Merry have some hot men.

message 3070: by Cindyg (new)

Cindyg (brotherlover) | 98 comments Lauren - Keep on reading them because I think they get better and better. I love all the guys and their committment to Merry.

lauren--i wasnt that impressed either--but they do get better. book 4 is less about history and court politics and more about merry and her men. it was pretty good.

message 3072: by Susan (Suz) (new)

Susan (Suz) (sharney) | 253 comments I finished One Foot in the Grave (Night Huntress, #2) by Jeaniene Frost ! LOVED IT! Now I'm back to reading about Cassie and Pritkin, barely into Embrace the Night (Cassandra Palmer, #3) by Karen Chance

message 3073: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 208 comments Yes the end of book one got me hooked before that it was rather slow. This one (book 2) was a lot better for me. I am curious to see what happens in the third one.

Yeah I know what you mean, especially the middle is really slow and it was pretty anoying how some behaved and that sucked, but the end I liked better again, hope you do too, but I also agree the first three were definetly a lot better

message 3075: by Susan (Suz) (new)

Susan (Suz) (sharney) | 253 comments Gosh I wish I could remember what happens in 3... have we met Shalto yet? I think that was his name wasn't it?

message 3076: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 208 comments Shalto was introduced in the first one. He was the first one after Merry.

message 3077: by Susan (Suz) (new)

Susan (Suz) (sharney) | 253 comments Really! Gosh my memory sux!! so it was the first one where he tries to kidnap her? And she kills one of his crazy bird ladies?

message 3078: by Nichole (DirrtyH) (new)

Nichole (DirrtyH) (dirtyh) I'm not reading any PNR right now - for some reason I lost interest in the genre! I know it's not permanent, I'm just reading other stuff for awhile. I'll be back, but I missed you guys so I wanted to check in!

message 3079: by Susan (Suz) (new)

Susan (Suz) (sharney) | 253 comments Ahhh thanks Nichole! :) I find that I can't get away from PNR the thought of reading something that doesn't have other worldly creatures just bores me LOL, LOL

Lauren | 208 comments Susan wrote: "Really! Gosh my memory sux!! so it was the first one where he tries to kidnap her? And she kills one of his crazy bird ladies?"

yeah and then she became the hand of flesh thing like her father.

I'm with you - I need a break sometimes too! PNR is so addictive to me, but I have to take a break every few books, cause there are a lot of other good books out there too. Even though-romance is still the best, and like somebody else said, when you throw in the other worldly aspect, the men, sex, and story is just better :)

message 3082: by Kyle (new)

Kyle Borland (kgborland) just got blood promise in so I'm putting Ill Wind on hold so I can read it :D

Gems (zadien) | 134 comments Just started Pride by Rachel Vincent

I ♥ Bookie Nookie (bookienookiereviews.blogspot.com) (ibookienookie) Lauren wrote: "started Merry number 3 Seduced by Moonlight (Meredith Gentry, #3)"

Ok so I read Mistral's Kiss (Meredith Gentry, #5)in 1 night--it was the best one so far. fyi--there was a pretty ridiculous love making scene-that is putting it nicely-that lasts about 30 pages...seriously, so maybe that is where everyone got the "too much sex" idea from. besides that, i felt like the story line picked up too. I started A Lick of Frost (Meredith Gentry, #6)--hope it is as good as the last.

message 3086: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 208 comments Yeah i was reading last night and the mirror conversation with Goblin King lasted like 3 chapters I was like come on. other then I like it. its just little things that take too long some times.

Haha I can't wait to read it, ridiculous scenes make me laugh.

i agree--i think she over explains A LOT. that does kinda get on my nerves. I think that is the problem I had with the first 2-3 books. but i am glad i kept reading b/c I do like them now. i think if I had put them down i would have never gone back to them.

message 3088: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 208 comments oh yeah i do like them her men make it great. I have all them right now except the new one of course so i can read them right after the other. I am excited and can't wait till I get home so I can go back to reading.

message 3089: by Gems (new)

Gems (zadien) | 134 comments Samantha - while I do enjoy Rachel's writing, I keep wondering why she keeps separating those two so much. It's getting frustrating and could that little girl make any more mistakes? Lol. I kept reading and wincing, thinking, good grief that child is some kind of child of evil. I'm not finished it yet - kind of reluctant to.

message 3090: by Kyle (new)

Kyle Borland (kgborland) I just finished Stray the other day. I really liked it :D

Do the books not get better or something? I hope they stay good :P

I tried her young adult series.

message 3091: by Kyle (new)

Kyle Borland (kgborland) Finished blood promise just now :D I was really good.

though the ending was predictable it was still good, another awesome book for mead's belt.

message 3092: by Jessa (new)

Jessa Slade (jessaslade) | 114 comments Just started Lori Foster's MY MAN, MICHAEL [image error] which was recommend somewhere in this group. Really liking it. For some reason I always like the socially awkward, overly tall, misfit heroines. And I am NOT projecting. Much.

message 3093: by Hanako (new)

Hanako I'm reading City of Glass - The Mortal Instruments #3. I LOVE this serie ! The 3rd one is even better than the previous ones which are alraedy really good.

message 3094: by Gems (new)

Gems (zadien) | 134 comments The Mortal Instruments Trilogy is a great series that has been seriously overlooked in that genre. I'm not even sure why that is. It has a much better and more original plot line than some of the other books, such as Vampire Academy (which is good, it just doesn't compare to Mortal Instruments plot wise) and the romantic relationship between the two lead characters always kept me on my toes.

The author is actually writing another series that links to the trilogy but harks back to before the accords.

message 3095: by Hanako (new)

Hanako Yes, the "love/hate" thing is just great. I can't wait to see how this situation is going to evolve. The fantastic plot is well detailed with the right amount of suspense. I really like the passages when Clary depics what she sees as if she wanted to paint it. Great sequel. I heard about the Infernal devices, can't wait to put my hands on it, as well as the 4th book "City of fallen Angels", I don't know if it's true though. Do you know ?

message 3096: by Gems (new)

Gems (zadien) | 134 comments I don't think there's a fourth book - I know there's a new series though and possibly a movie but it was a trilogy so I doubt there would be a fourth book. I'll look into it though.

I ♥ Bookie Nookie (bookienookiereviews.blogspot.com) (ibookienookie) Just finished A Lick of Frost (Meredith Gentry, #6) A Lick of Frost (Meredith Gentry, #6) by Laurell K. Hamilton . it was good...not great. It was waaaay slow in the beginning--the whole interrogation with the king and the lawyers. I wanted to scream GET ON WITH IT!

While I wait for the next one to come in from the library, I am gonna return to the Fever series book #2.

message 3098: by Gems (new)

Gems (zadien) | 134 comments Hanako - you're right! There does seem to be a fourth book following Simon which is kind of cool because I was always kind of curious about what would happen to him. Though I dunno how that book will combine with the others since there's no big evil to deal with but I trust Clare to make it good.

message 3099: by Hanako (new)

Hanako ! ! ! THIS is a good news ! ! ! I know there's a review on Clare's blog but I'll wait until I finish City of Glass to read it.

message 3100: by Gems (new)

Gems (zadien) | 134 comments The story won't be out until 2011 and the paper back in 2012... it takes that long to make a book smaller? Bah, I'll get the hardback. Extortion!! But yeah I'm really looking forward to it and the next series starts with the Clockwork princess or something.
